I have a prescription for amoxicillin 875 mg twice a day for uti.. It upsets my stomach a bit so I wondered if I can break them in half and take them 4 times a day. Maybe it will help with my stomach irritation. ## Hello, Sixcharm! How are you? No, it would be best to take them as prescribed, but you can try taking them with a meal, rather than on an empty stomach. Just avoid dairy foods, which can sometimes affect the absorption of some medications. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Took it for 1 week. 1 tab every 12 hours. I've taken them all. How will I know if the infection is gone? Dentist cleaned some out after an extraction. ## Hello, Emmalee! How are you? Are you experiencing any pain, swelling or foul breath odor? If not, then the antibiotic has most likely worked, since those are all potential symptoms of an infection as detailed by the NIH. However, only your dentist can say for sure by doing an exam. Was this your first extraction? Are you on any other medications?

I stopped taking the antibiotic and now my vagina is swallowing ## Hi asia, Did you mean to say swelling as opposed to swallowing? If so... there's a possibility you could be suffering from a yeast infection (which is common after taking antibiotics). You could have also had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Have you ever had this problem before? I recommend supplementing with a probiotic to reinstate good bacteria into your body. Eating sugar free yogurt with honey could help too (sugar free is best because the sugar may cause more yeast infection problems). Yogurt, as well as kefir, is full of good bacteria that can help build your immune system. If the swelling gets worse, please see a doctor as soon as possible! I hope this helps.

I had a severe reaction to this where I broke out starting at my hands and feet with itching, then broke out around my lips and eyes and then my legs from top to bottom. My tongue swelled and itched everywhere. I took benadryl, then my heart started to hurt, feeling like an attack. I do know that the amoxicillin caused the itch and swelling of my tongue but do not know what caused my heart to react. ## Hi Christina, I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I hope you got emergency medical attention after all that! Based on my research, it does sound like you had an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin. In regards to the chest pain, the Benadryl shouldn't have caused that since it is safe to take with Amoxicillin. Everyone is different though, so maybe it did effect you in some ...

I want to break in half to start weaning off so the anxiety won't be so bad maybe? Been taking for 4 days. Please help. ## Hello, Colleen! How are you? Those can be normal side effects in some people that take this antibiotic, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience non-allergic skin rash and headache. However, there is no need to taper off, but you need to make sure to see your doctor so they can prescribe a different antibiotic to eradicate the infection being treated. A full course of antibiotics needs to be finished to fully eradicate the infectious bacteria. Is there anything else I can ...

can this medication cause red itchy irritated eyes ? ## Hello, Richard! How are you? That would be very unusual, usually allergic reactions to it are systemic, not localized like that and the normal side effects include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Can I cut the big pink Amoxicillin 875 mg pill in half so that I can swallow it? It's too big for me. ## Hello amanda, Unfortunately I am unable to give you a direct answer with just knowing that it is an amoxicillin 875. Some brands of this medication are coated for extended release so that your body has time to properly absorb the active ingredients before your stomach acid from destroys them. So while it may be acceptable with some brands of the medication, it may not be with others. It is always better to play it safe and ask your doctor or pharmacy about the flexibility of your medications consumption. If you are struggling to administer your medication I suggest you discuss this with your doctor. There are options that you and your doctor can agree upon to ensure you are able ...

I took my first dose of amoxicillin at 4pm can i take second midnight before i go to bed and then start regime tomorrow? ## Hi Kennett, The dosing instructions for Amoxicillin are largely dependent on the severity and type of infection you have. So unfortunately I can't offer you any specific dosing advice without knowing what type of infection you're taking it for. You may want to confirm dosing and administration details with your doctor if there's something unclear about your regimen. However, as a guideline, the usual adult dose of Amoxicillin for "most types of infections" is 500 mg orally 3 times a day or 875 mg orally twice a day for 7 to 10 days I hope this info helps! ## I had three back tooth removed yesterday by my oral surgeon doctor and was prescribed am...

mucus ,short of breathe, minor wheezing, coughing ## Hello, Wes! How are you? This is an antibiotic, so it will only help with bacterial infections. If your symptoms are due to something such as a cold or allergies, it will not help and taking it when it isn't appropriate may result in your developing antibiotic resistance. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Has the presence of an infection been confirmed? ## I have used Amoxil for bronchitis and ear infections before. As long as it is bacterial it should treat a broard spectrum of illnesses.

I am taking 3 pills of Amoxicillin everyday on a 7 day course, however it is my best friends birthday party and I want to know if I will be able to drink alcohol? Is this safe? ## It is best to avoid alcohol while taking a prescription medication, as warned by the U.S. FDA, because it may cause worsening of the side effects, including nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness. However, if you are approved to imbibe, please make sure that you will not be driving, or operating any dangerous machinery. Also taking prednisone 10mg.pls let me know. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? There are no interactions or problems listed, it's usually with the calcium containing antacids, since they can coat your stomach and prevent absorption of the antibiotics. Can I take Mucinex along with Tylenol & Amoxicillin / Clavulanate Potassium Tablets, USP 875 mg/125 mg? ## Hi Nancy, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Mucinex, Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Amoxicillin. While this doesn't necessarily mean no interactions exist, I personally haven't had any issues taking these together in the past. I have a gum infection because I have a bad tooth that needs to be pulled. The dentist prescribed me Amoxicillin 875 mg. I'm just wondering how long will it take for my gums to return back to normal. I've been taking the pills for 7 days and I have 3 days left. ## Hello, Shauna! How are you doing? The general rule for antibiotics is that you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. If you still have swelling, it may not be the right one to treat the infection you have and you may need to ask about taking something else. When are you having the tooth extracted? It would be best to do it after the infection has improved, otherwise it may not numb properly. ## As rightlly said by Verwon, at seven days you shud ave had an improvement if not complete heali...
