What kind of an infection is this for and how does it interact with alcohol? ## Amoxicillin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin. It is also used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers. Amoxicillin is in a class of medications called penicillin-like antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, and other viral infections. The Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium "combination" results in an antibiotic with an increased spectrum of action and restored efficacy against amoxicillin-resistant bacteria that produce -lactamase. Not sure what this is... my neighbor gave me one and said it's for pain... ## Hi Nic, Based on the description provided, I've identified your white pill marked "X 32" as Amoxicillin (875mg) + Clavulanate Potassium (125mg); which is NOT used for pain, but rather in the treatment of bacterial infections. Manufactured by: NorthStar Rx LLC You can learn more about this drug on the page for Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium Details In light of this, I would question the legitimacy of your neighbor's word, since this actually has nothing to do with pain management or pain relief unless it is proven to be caused by a serious infection. And if that is the case, you may want to follow up with your doctor before taking random prescription meds that may not do anything for yo... ...
