I am 66 yrs and for the last one year taking Amplopres 5 to control my BP. Recently I developed Tinnaitus ie a mild sound from ear comming all time. ENT Doctor says could be the side effect of Amplopres 5. Kindly somebody advice. ## Amlopres contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, it is a calcium channel blocker and yes, according to the information it can cause tinnitus as a side effect, though it is very rare for it to do so. Learn more Amlopres details here. There alternative medications on the market that you can try, so I strongly urge you to consult your doctor about switching and see if the tinnitus goes away. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been prescribed for High BP (persistent at 150/100 for last six months), Amlopres-AT, which I am now taking for the last two months. The BP is steady at 130/80. However, lately, I am having marginal swelling in the foot/ankle which develops during the day, but disappears in the early morning. I am taking Amlopres-AT after breakfast. I want an opinion on the following: 1. Is the swelling likely to develop and be a permanent side effect if I continue with Amlopres-AT? Is there an alternate medicine w/o side effect? 2. Will taking tablet for hypertension lead to Diabetics? My weight is 72Kg(Ht -5 ft 3") - I am walking for one hour daily and also changed diet as per nutritionist recommendation to reduce calorie intake. I do not have any diabetic problem now. I had taking amlopres 5mg for 4 months my doc prescribed it when my bp reading was 175/90 now i had stopped taking the medicine and feel normal.can i stop this medicine forever?my bp has dat much high for the first time?what is my condition? ## Hi, Shihab! How are you? There are reasons that high blood pressure (hypertension) is called "The Silent Killer" and that's because people that have it often feel normal and have no symptoms, whatsoever…..until they suffer heart failure, a heart attack or a stroke. Thus, just because you felt fine, you shouldn't have stopped the medication. You've actually put yourself in danger by doing that, because it can cause a rebound effect that may cause your blood pressure and heart rate to go even higher than it was before. Lea...

What is difference between these two medicines, pl specify their respective use. ## Hi, Sharma! I'm always happy to help, if I can! Amlong AT contains the active ingredients Amlodipine and Atenolol, so it combines a calcium channel blocker with a beta blocker, this combination is most commonly used to help treat high blood pressure, but is also sometimes used for certain cardiac conditions. Amlong MT contains Amlodipine and Metoprolol, so it just has a different beta blocker in it, but it's used to treat the same types of conditions. It's really just that the same medications don't always work for everyone, so there are generally several combinations available to provide other treatment options. Side effects for both may include nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotensio...

Kidny or heart now my bp 120/80 can i stop medicine? ifi take long time any problem? ## You should continue the medication for as long as your doctor instructs you to do so. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. I am 72, taking Telma 80mg after breakfast and Amlopress 5mg after dinner. Usually my BP in the morning is 140/85 but only after a breakfast of fruits like bananas, pomegranates, dates, apples, guava, etc. However, my BP frequently rises at times to 175/98, instead of decreasing, after about 2 hours. Is it due to the potassium in the fruits? For the last two days I've also been feeling dizziness. Should I switch to some other medicine for hypertension? I play tennis in the evening for half an hour. My pulse is about 65 bpm.
