Are all Generic created equally. I was taking the generic Amlodipine Besylate that was Blue with A9 on front an M on back. Latest refill is a white pill with G58 on front an 5 on back. After 3 days it appears that it is not working as well os the other one dir. So again are all generics created equally. ## Unfortunately, no. US generic medications are allowed to differ from their name brand counterparts by as much as plus or minus 20% in the active ingredient. This means that while the one you were taking may have had the full amount, the new one might not. The FDA considers this a safe, therapeutic window of different. But, for some people, it does create problems. Your best bet is to consult with your doctor about it, they may be able to write you a prescription for brand medically ne...

I have been taking 10 mg ofr Amlodipine Besylate. My problem is that it tastes horrible. Are there any of these in the generic that are coated. I gag every time I have to take this pill. Any information would be appreciated so I can ask my doctor for a pill specific if there is one! ## I don't know of any that are coated, but what I can tell you is that if you are tasting it, then you probably aren't taking it properly. Whenever you take medication, it should be places as far back in your mouth/throat, as possible, without choking yourself and immediately swallowed with a full 8 ounce glass of water. If you are tasting it, there is a good chance that you are either letting it sit in your mouth for too long, or not swallowing it with enough liquid to wash it down. If you are doin...

I am on 10 mg of Amlodipine Besylate. The pill is usually white in color. I pick up my perscription yesterday, open the bottle and the color was blue, one side had A10 and the other side had a M on it. Is the the right medication. Thanks ## Yes, this tablet also contains 10mgs of Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, it is just made by a different manufacturer, than the one you were previously receiving. Pharmacies will often switch which company they order from, whenever they have to restock their supply, according to who is offering the cheapest price. This enables them to offer these generic medications to you, as cheaply as possible. Are there any other questions? ## Ithe was takeingamlodipinine besylate 10mg tmyl a roundblue...

They are both a yellow and white pill used to be Orangish and white? ## Amlodipine Benazepril is actually 2 medications, it's a generic for Lotrel. It combines the calcium channel blocker Amlodipine with the ACE inhibitor Benazepril to better control hypertension and certain cardiac conditions. The Amlodipine Besylate is just Amlodipine by itself. Did your doctor switch you from one to the other? ## Thanks Verwon, No I have taken the one with Benzepril for a couple years now and I got the other one from my mail order refil place and I did not think it is the right drug. It is a 90 day supply and it was too cheap. So now that I know it is the wrong drug I will contact them and get the problem fixed. I still have 30 day of my right meds so I have time to get the problem corrected. Tha...

My pharmacist changed my regular amlodipine 5 mg zyd to amlodipine besylate 5 mg which is a much bigger pill. Is this the right dosage? I am thinking of taking it back to the pharmacy...I hate it when they make changes and say nothing! ## It is the same medication, just manufactured by a different company, this is very common with generics. Are Amlodipine Amlovasc the same as Amlodipine besylate? ## Yes, Amlovasc is just a brand name for Amlodipine, so Amlodipine is the generic and is usually cheaper to purchase. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I live in South Africa and do not know if this will be of any help. I use Amloc, 5mg. Amloc is amlodipine maleate, which does not cause any swelling. Previously I was on amlodipine besylate which caused me to swell up like I was trying to outdo an elephant. My neighbor experienced the same - besylate causes swelling, maleate does not. Both are amlodipine, only different components of it.
