im taking amlopres 5mg last 3 years im 48 years old this tablet any side effects. Kidny or heart now my bp 120/80 can i stop medicine? ifi take long time any problem? ## You should continue the medication for as long as your doctor instructs you to do so. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. While there can be some health risks to taking it long term, it is far more risky to have uncontrolled high blood pressure, because that could cause conditions such as heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure, which can be fatal. I have been taking amlodenk 10mg for a month now and I have started experiencing swelling on my ankles. Is it possible that I am experiencing side effect of this drug? ## Amlo-Denk contains the active ingredient Amlodipine. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a692044.html#side-effects To my understanding, these types of side effects may not go away until you stop taking what's causing them to manifest in the first place. I have been taking amlodipine for about 3 months. I started on 5 mg then 10 mg. Now back to 5 because of swelling of the ankles. I also have stiffness in the muscles and frequent urination at night which the doctor doesn't think it's the pills, although it started at the same time. Would taking them at night instead of morning help? ## Hello, Jo! How are you? Yes, those can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness and dry cough. However, since it's still continuing this far into taking it, that likely means that these symptoms will not improve and you may need to switch medications. Is there anything else I can help with?

what would be the side effect of S-Amlodipine when i take it for 10 years. ## Virtually all of the medications that are used to treat hypertension and/or cardiac conditions carry possible risks with long-term use. Are regular blood tests being done? That's usually how any problems are found early, so you'll know if you need to try a different medication. Blood tests are done that usually include your a liver and kidney panel. It is rare for it to happen, but these medications may cause some liver or kidney damage. Learn more Amlodipine details here. However, what you also have to remember is, as I said, that risk is very small, so the risk to you is far greater if you would leave such medical conditions run untreated and out of control. How often do you take it?

amlodipine 10 mg. I was put on this for periodic high blood pressure but I still feel some hypertension from time to time during the day. I am only on it about a week or so, and I see it takes 4-6 weeks to take full effect. Is this a minor side effect or a bad one and does it go away or does it mean this med is no good for me or too early to tell? ## Are you talking about the hypertension during the day? Are you actually checking your blood pressure at those times to be sure? There aren't usually any symptoms felt from high blood pressure, which is why it is often called the silent killer. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
