Amitriptyline And Citalopram
3 Topics FoundI just started taking the lowest dose of Amitriptyline (1x daily) to try to help me sleep. My concern is I've been taking Citalopram 20mg (1x daily) for over 5 years now. As soon as my terrible sleep pattern regulates I'll go off the Amitriptyline. Will taking both of these cause any adverse effects? ## Amitriptyline, the generic for Elavil is a tricyclic antidepressant. Citalopram, the generic for Celexa is an SSRI antidepressant. They can be used together, however, you may experience aggravation of the side effects, which may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dizziness. Can Cilift and Trepiline be taken together? I take 1 Cilift every night, and the doctor has just given me Tripline for my shingles, to take 1 at night. ## Clifit contains Citalopram and Tripiline contains Amitriptyline and they can be used together, but the dosages should be taken under careful consideration, plus your doctor should be monitoring you regularly while you are taking both. I have been using Cilift for about 4 months but wake up tired, I don't want to get out of bed in the morning. Can anyone tell me the difference between Cilift and Trepiline? ## Cilift contains the active ingredient Citalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant.
