What is the safe way to stop taking Amitriptylin 10 mg.? I have become very irritable, restless and i can't seem to sleep as well as I did before I started taking this. ## How long have you been taking it? If it has been for a long period of time, then it should be tapered slowly. Our bodies do get used to medications when we have been taking them for a long time and you can experience some withdrawal effects if you stop abruptly. In addition, you can also experience rebound symptoms, which can be worse than the condition you started taking it to treat. Have you talked to your doctor about these problems?

Changed pharmacies today and received the 10mg amitriptyline in blue. The first month I used this from the previous pharmacy the pill was pink. Is there any difference in the two? ## Put, pictures of amitriptyline 10mg, in Google. You should see a link to pictures. They do come in pink and blue and other colors. ## @Frankie, If you get them filled from a licensed pharmacy, odds are that the two medications contain the same active ingredients and dosage, but may have different binders/fillers. If you happen to know the pill imprint you can either look it up online or post it here for reference. However, in my own findings, a round blue pill marked with V 2101 reportedly contains 10mgs of Amitriptyline made by Qualitest. And you can view a photo of it by clicking the following National Dr...

Blue round tablet. Does anyone know what makes up the blue coloring. I am allergic to yellow dye as it creates full body tremors. Hi, I have been depressed for 5 years, almost 6 now. My illness has been very resistant to medical treatment. I have tried a variety of antidepressants and had no results. Now I have been on 150mg of amitriptyline for half a year. It has been THE WORST medication for me. This one has made my suicidal thoughts and overall depression even worse! I can feel my mood drop significantly when I miss a dose, and tapering off this medicine has been a nightmare. I recently saw my psychiatrist yesterday. We made a plan to slow down the tapering process by going down 10mg a week. Last night was my first dose of 140mg, and I really cannot tel if it is just the natural course of my overall illness or if it is making me worse again. Or what if it's just the medicine in general? I don't know if...

Hello, I've been taking amitriptyline for about 2 years. I've also been addicted to Ambien and Xanax. I've tried everything for sleep so I didn't take this med when it was first prescribed because I thought it wouldn't work. The first time I took it I was out of Ambien and Xanax and very paranoid. However it actually made me sleep for about five hours which was a very pleasant surprise. That was 50mg. Now I'm completely off Xanax and Ambien and am talking 100-150 of amitriptyline a night. It works very well. It's the only non controlled substance that has ever worked to help me sleep. Because it's not controlled it's much easier to get. When I'm out of it I don't sleep at all. This medication has been a godsend to me. ## Hello, Erin! How are y...

I started taking amitriptyline HCL 10MG 5 years ago. I would now like to wean myself off of the pills. How to I decrease the dosage and how long will it take before I am free from any problems. Grace ## Hello, Grace! How are you? It would be best to get medical assistance with doing so. However, the modern preferred method is usually to have a patient start to skip doses, while also gradually lowering how much they take. As listed by the FDA, possible withdrawal effects may include nausea, fever, chills, diarrhea, rebound depression and rebound anxiety. It's hard to say how long it will take to be free of issues, you've been on it for years, so it could take a month, or so. I dont know yet. could this change to blue 1201 v, be contributing to my extremely dry mouth? thank you very much ## Yes, it certainly could be what's causing it, there may be different inactive ingredients in this tablet, or you may be getting a slight bit more of the active ingredient and dry mouth can be one of the normal side effects of Amitriptyline. Hi everyone, I'm interested in amitriptyline and/or nortriptyline. I have been taking amitriptyline 100mg at night. As usual my dose was increased over time. The only side effect I had difficulty with is that grogginess in the morning which I don't like. I'm most interested in no grogginess. I was told that it shall pass as my body adjusts. I found a different drug called nortriptyline accidentally while looking for insurance. They consider amitriptyline to be a tier 4 as to nortriptyline a tier 2, that's a huge difference in price for me, so I looked it up and they seem to be basically the same medicine but I noticed that in the comments area the grogginess was not so much a problem as to the other medicine...so if anyone can help me out with feedback that would be grea...

I have been taking Amitrityline 10mg for facial neuralgia for over two years now. I can identify with many of the side effects mentioned on this site, but I can't find anybody suggesting that by taking Amiytriptyline (in no matter what dose) your libido is reduced. I have most certainly experienced this problem, has anybody else and if so did you find an alternative that does not produce this rather unpleasant side effect? ## Hello, Robert! How are you? Yes, that can be a side effect of almost all antidepressant medications, not everyone experiences it, but many do. There's really no way to say which one might not cause you such a problem, you really just have to try them and see how they affect you. Have you discussed the issue with your prescriber? I just took amitriptylin 10 mg about 4 hours ago and am having shoulder pain. Can I take some ibuprofin? ## I didn't find any interactions listed, but you should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. Since they can both cause drowsiness and dizziness as side effects, these may be more severe if you take them both, so you should be aware of that and make sure you aren't driving or doing anything that requires high alertness, until you are sure about the effects they have on you. Are there any other questions or comments?
