I have got hepetitis B. I heared from one of TV medical program that medicine for this problem is Alpha Folic Acid. I do not understand, what kinde of medecine it is. what should be the dosage and for how long should I take it, what would be the side affects of using it. ## I believe what you heard them referring to was Alpha Lipoic Acid. It is not actually a medication though, it is a nutritional supplement that is believed to help support liver function, as well as having other health benefits. Therefore, it should not the first line treatment for any form of Hepatitis, because it is not actually proven to do anything. Before adding it, you should consult with your doctor to make sure it is safe for you to do so. Are there any other questions or comments?

Neurologist has me on this for Inflammatory Polyneuropathy. Does this sound correct ? ## Hi Anthony Ramos, Based on my research, Alpha-lipoic acid has been safely used for over than 30 years in Europe to prevent and treat complications associated with diabetes, such as protein glycation, abnormal glucose utilization, polyneuropathy, and cataracts. I have seen a lot of information relating Alpha Lipoic acid to diabetic neuropathy as well. There are also studies which have proven that Lipoic acid can prevent inflammation. With that being said, there is definitely a chance that this could work for you and I would say that your Neurologist did prescribe you something that could be beneficial. It is a supplement that is very good for you, regardless. I hope this information is helpful!

Would you get heart palpitations and or pvc if you start skipping taking your alpha blockers like flomax for instance?my husband uses it for his enlarged prostate ## Hello, Terry! How is your husband doing? Those can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA and, if he's skipping doses, it would be normal for them to keep recurring from when he does take a dose. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, hypotension and vertigo. What dosage does he take? And how many doses in a row does he usually skip? Has his doctor been informed?

Are there any side effects? I have foot neuropathy, but not diabetes, and have developed a rash on my legs. ## Hello Village65, My research tells me that rashes are indeed, one of the side effects of Alpha Lipoic acid. In regards to Benfotiamine- I couldn't find any information stating rashes as a side effect. With that being said, you could possibly be having a reaction to just the Alpha Lipoic acid. Have you spoken with your doctor about this yet? Please post back if you have any more questions!
