Correlation is not causation, as we all know, but my hair has thinned dramatically in the year or more I've been taking Viibryd. I'm at that age (45) but never had an issue before nor does male pattern baldness run in my family. I never found hair falling out, just seems like every hair I do have has gotten thinner. I assume I must have lost some hair too, but none in the sink or pillow. Not sure where it went, but it's going somewhere! I'm about to cross-taper to something else, it'll be interesting to see if it comes back. I'll try to remember to come back and let you know... ## Hello, Dave! How are you? This has actually been reported by a lot of people that take it, but it seems many have experienced a reversal upon discontinuing it. Is this the only medicati...

I am Diagnosed with an Alopecia areata and prescribed to use persivate on my head where there are patches. Am advised to use for unlimited time and my doubt is what if the medication would bring about worse side effects on my skin and hair when used for a long time? ## This is a steroid, so there are no guarantees that it will work to stimulate hair growth. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin irritation, dryness, flaking, redness, and acne. Are you on any other medications? It may help, but the only way to know is by actually trying it.

I have been diagnosed with alopecia aretae . I m going thru severe hair loss. Doc prescribed me tricovit tab . Will it help me and how long it would take to protect my existing hair . ## Tricovit is just a nutritional supplement that claims to contain vitamins that will help your hair. It contains biotin, L-Cysteine and L-Methionine. However, there are no guarantees that it will actually help your hair loss and stop more from occurring. It is known that some hair loss can be caused by a deficiency in Biotin, so if that's what has caused it, supplementing it back can arrest the hair loss and help encourage new growth. But, if your hair loss has is genetic, which is usually the case with alopecia areata, there may be nothing that can be done to change it. There are cases of this, thou...

I have been taking Omnacortil 10mg daily for about 2 years to address alopecia issues. However, whenever I attempt to stop taking it or reduce the dosage by 5mg, I experience numerous side effects and the alopecia patches return. I develop a severe allergy that begins in my eyes, my appetite decreases, and my eyes blink continuously. What should I do? I have completed all my medical evaluations including blood sugar, blood pressure, thyroid, etc., and everything appears to be normal.

BTN Forte is a nutritional supplement that contains a complex of B Vitamins with Vitamin C, so they only way it will really help is if your hair loss was caused by a deficiency in one or more of the vital nutrients it contains. ## sir i have used more fort 5% and btn fort 10mg for abt 3 months after that i had recovered my hair abt 85% but then i stop it using as i thought it is fine jst leave it and will recover. but it started falling my hair again after 6-7 months later and after 1 and half years means at present its now 60-70% hair lossed. so please advice if i need to continue bnt f...

I discovered a small bald spot on my head in Ausgust of 2017. I went to the dermatologist and received Kenalog shots after the PA looked at it and diagnosed me with alopecia. After the injection, i experienced pain and atrophy. I went back next month to find my spot had grown 2 inches and was almost in tears. She rushed the whole visit and asked if i wanted more injections. Stupidly, i agreed. I was just scared of loosing it all. Now im loosing hair like crazy. I wish i had found all this information and steered clear of the drug! I advise anyone to do some research first, and consider the benefits and risks. Good luck ## Oh my goodness! I am seriously experiencing literally the same exact thing. I literally have a bald spot on the back side of my head from the Kenalog. I really don...

I had been taking Loestrin for years with no side effects then switched to Minastrin when they stopped prescribing /manufacturing Loestrin . Now taking Mibelas. I've developed alopecia and am also experiencing hair loss. The only thing that I can trace back to any kind of change is this drug. Anyone else having those types of side effects? Thx so much. ## That can be a side effect of most hormonal medications, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes. How much hair are you losing? You might need to switch to a different contraceptive. Are you on any other medications?

Does doxycycline cause hair loss? I have been prescribed it (2 per day) for 10 days. Also is it better than azythromycin? ## No, this antibiotic is not known to cause hair loss/alopecia, according to FDA reports, its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. As to being better, none are better than another, the appropriate antibiotic depends on the type and severity of the infection that's being treated. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking tamzapan for a year and experienceing horrible hair loss Had two surgerys last year as well. Tamzapan even messed my hormones now the doctor is putting me on some hormone replacement Has anyone ever weaned off this nasty drug? ## Alopecia can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and decreased orgasm. Yes, people have weaned off of it successfully, but it must be done via a very slow taper, suddenly stopping creates a risk of seizures. What type of hormonal issues are you having? ## I don't know yet it seems like all the doctors I've been to don't know what's going on. I take losartan-hctz100-25mg 1 a day. Could this make me lose my hair? Have been on it for 2 months and starting to lose my hair Is this a side effect? Also take verapamil er 240mg for around 2 years. ## Hi jenny, According to The National Library of Medicine, Losartan can in fact cause alopecia (hair loss) as a side effect. It doesn't appear to be very common though since this side effect is not listed in other directories, but it does happen. If it becomes unbearable, you may want to consider switching medications or looking into a natural alternative that may be safer to use in the long run. Have you had a chance to discuss this concern with your doctor yet? ## Am on Losartan, Inderal, clonidine, I have been on these for 3 years and have lost over half of my hair, are there alter...
