These steroids have only been shown to have limited success at treating this condition and the creams/ointments are actually the worst. Has your doctor offered any other treatment options? ## Two days back I found a white patch. When I consulted a doctor he said it is Alopecia areata. And he suggested I take clobetasol propionate and salicylic acid. Is this the right type of medication for it? If not, plz suggest me any other appropriate medicine or ointment. Th...

I am Diagnosed with an Alopecia areata and prescribed to use persivate on my head where there are patches. Am advised to use for unlimited time and my doubt is what if the medication would bring about worse side effects on my skin and hair when used for a long time? ## This is a steroid, so there are no guarantees that it will work to stimulate hair growth. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin irritation, dryness, flaking, redness, and acne. Are you on any other medications? It may help, but the only way to know is by actually trying it.

My health is good according to the last medical exams. However, a year ago I started to loss hair and I was diagosed with alopecia areata. I'm currently in treatment and my hair is re-growing on the treated hair areas, but I'm keep losing hair from other parts of my head. My question is it is possible that redotex had somehting to do with my hair loss? ## The active ingredients in Redotex are Amphetamines and the Benzodiazepine Diazepam, and hair loss is not a normal side effect of either class of medications, but any drug can affect everyone differently. What does your doctor think has caused it? Are you still t...

I have been diagnosed with alopecia aretae . I m going thru severe hair loss. Doc prescribed me tricovit tab . Will it help me and how long it would take to protect my existing hair . ## Tricovit is just a nutritional supplement that claims to contain vitamins that will help your hair. It contains biotin, L-Cysteine and L-Methionine. However, there are no guarantees that it will actually help your hair loss and stop more from occurring. It is known that some hair loss can be caused by a deficiency in Biotin, so if that's what has caused it, supplementing it back can arrest the hair loss and help encourage new growth. But, if your hair loss has is genetic, which is usually the case with alopecia areata, there may be nothing that can be done to change it. There are cases of this, thou...
