OK I'm allergic to sulfur drugs, and I was taking Suboxone and kept getting sick. When I spoke with my pharmacist about it he said its because Suboxone as a sweetener in it, and that if u are allergic to sulfur drugs, you will be allergic to suboxone too. Has anyone ever heard of this? ## Hi bee, I haven't actually heard of sweeteners that contain sulfur until reading this post. But the only one I found (known as Saccharin), is classified as a sulfonamide. In light of this, I think it's always a good idea to research each inactive ingredient just as throughly as the active ones, to ensure preventative measures against certain allergies. Did the pharmacist mention which type of sweetener they used?

Hi, when I take suboxone I breakout in hives and skin rashes. Is there anything else I can take. ## Hello, Michele! How are you? What are you taking it to treat? Have you tried Subutex, since it doesn't contain the Naloxone that Suboxone does? The FDA classifies this as being an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## When I firsf started suboxone I broke out in rashes/hives for the first couple weeks which subsided I fhought I was going to have to see if the dr could swap me to something else but it did eventually subside for me... This may not be the case for you so I suggest discussing with your health care provider who perscribss you the suboxone ## Subutex. it's the...

I've been on Suboxone for 2 years and felt fine. Then the other day I broke out with hives and also my blood pressure was very high, and I couldn't breath good. Can I develop an allergic reaction after taking this drug for 2 years? ## Hello, Keith! How are you? Yes, our bodies do change with time, so it is always possible to suddenly develop an allergy that you haven't experienced, before. Have you experienced any other issues? The FDA lists other typical allergic symptoms as possible including swelling and trouble breathing.

Was taking suboxone films and got switched to pills. Now I'm getting sick throwing up. Is it because of the sulfur in the pills? ## I got very sick throwing up and bad stomach pain like I do with sulfur drugs. So I was given C230 10mg 325 ## Hello, Jesse! How are you? I am very sorry about the problems you're experiencing. However, without knowing the markings on the specific pills that you're taking, I can't check the inactive ingredients for you to see what they contain. Can you please post back with this additional information? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Cheree, there is no sulfur listed as being in that tablet. However, Oxycodo...

I became highly allergic to sulfa drugs after being hospitalized for cellitus in my hand they pump me full of bactrim and I turned beat red and could barely breath...I was having weird tingling in my feet like when something falls asleep..hard to breath..doctor came in and said avoid sulfa drugs. My insurance refuses to pay for white subs and the orange get ones make me sick, rash on my neck...light headed...so the main drug in suboxone is acesulfame....an atrifificle sweetner.. ## Hello Jen! How are you? I am sorry about the experiences you've had with these medications. Acesulfame is not the main drug in Suboxone, as an artificial sweetener, it is considered an inactive ingredient. The active ingredients in Suboxone are Buprenorphine, and Naloxone. It is an opiate that is used to ...

My friend is having a little reaction to suboxon . Tring to figure out if milk or something else could help. ## Hello, Bob! How is your friend doing? No, milk will not help an allergic reaction. The FDA lists the symptoms of an allergic reaction as possibly including nausea, swelling, hives, rash, itchiness and trouble breathing. This medication is classified as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What type of reaction is your friend having?

I am trying to find out if someone allergic to opiates (yet is seeking assistance for opiate addiction) would have a good chance of being allergic to Suboxone/buprenorphine? Technically, suboxone and subutex are classified as narcotics, but being partial does anyone think the same allergy would be triggered? ## If they have a genuine allergy to all opiates, then they will most likely also react to this one, there is no way to know for sure, unless they try it, though. However, one important question to ask is what symptoms did they experience, when they took opiates, that they consider to due to an allergic reaction? Quite often, the symptoms that many people think mean they are allergic to something, are actually just normal side effects. The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea...

Does Suboxone or Naproxen (Aleve) contain Aspirin or any other related chemicals that would cause an allergic reaction? I need to know asap. Thank you. ## Suboxone contains Naloxone and Buprenorphine and regarding Naproxen, that is the active ingredient, so no. Though it should be noted that Naproxen is also a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it is a related drug. However, the NIH does warn that if you are allergic to any given medication, there is a risk of finding more you are also allergic to, it's just the nature of human biology, so it is always best to be cautious, when taking something new. Has someone had a reaction to one of these medications?

I been on subutec for 2 yrs now my dr wants to switch me to suboxone is it safe to switch i mean doing 3 subutec today and going to suboxone tomorrow its crazy ## Hello, Joe! How are you? Yes, you can do a straight switch from one to the other. They both contain Buprenorphine, but Suboxone also contains Naloxone to help prevent someone from abusing other narcotics, while being treated with it. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Suboxone is the preferred choice, unless a woman is pregnant, or the person is allergic to the Naloxone, so most doctor's are switching their patients. Is th...

Can you take nitrofuranton antibiotic and suboxone 8mg ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The Nitrofurantoin may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Suboxone is an opiate narcotic that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I am trying to understand the differences between Naloxone and Naltrexone because I was prescribed Naltrexone tablets over the summer and had a severe allergic reaction and had to be hospitalized. I do not know if the Naloxone in Suboxone would give the same reaction, but I do not want to find out. If anyone can explain this to me, I would greatly appreciate it. =) ## Hello, Kkbc! How are you? While they both do the same thing, they are two different substances. So, while you may have had a reaction to the Naltrexone, you might be okay with the Naloxone, but there is also a slight chance that you could have a reaction to it, too. Typical side effects to Naloxone may include nausea, change in mood, increased sweating and nervousness. If you do have a problem with it, Subutex is alway...

Dear VerWon, I now know the difference between suboxone and subtext. But, why would one Dr. Choose one over the other? Is the suboxone used for addiction and subtext used for just pain? ## Hello, Cats68! How are you? As I said in my prior post, Suboxone includes Naloxone to prevent the abuse of other narcotics, while someone is being treated with it for addiction and that is exactly why it is usually preferred over Subutex. Subutex is usually the choice when someone has a bad reaction to the Naloxone or is pregnant. However, both can treat pain. Does this clear it up for you? :-) ## Dear Dr. Thank u for the information. All cleared up. ## As for mself....I had major allergic reactions to generic suboxone pills as well as name brand and subutex. The only form of combination of meds was S...

My pharmacy recently switched to a round orange Suboxone with the numbers 970 on it and it burns my mouth pretty bad and doesn't seem to be as effective as my old ones. Has anyone else had this problem? Why does it burn? ## Hello OhioKing, Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with your medication. I was taking a look into it and I've read a couple of other users that said they had a similar experience. It seems that most of these stories boiled down to either an allergic reaction or that their doctor had them taking too many dosages a day and that in the end the doctor had them go from 4x a day to 2x a day. Either way I suggest that you consult your doctor immediately in case it turns out to be an allergic reaction to the medication. Burning of the mouth is definite...

I am currently taking subutex cause I am allergic to something in suboxone. My doctor just asked me if I wanted to try something called subsal. Its new and I guess its a mint flavor tablet.... What is it ## Hi leah, Sorry to hear about your allergy to Suboxone. However, I haven't been able to find any specific details on any medications by the name of Subsal. Did your doctor mention anything else about what it's supposed to be used for? If the Subutex is working well as an alternative option, then in my honest opinion it may be best to stick with what you already know, since different brands can still effect each person differently. So switching medications is somewhat of a gamble in that regard. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Subutex Details I hope this help...

But it should be fine, unless your doctor has some concern. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Bactrim as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. I recently was switched from 40mg Opana er and Opana 10mg IR to Suboxone tablets due to upcoming CDC regulations. Since the switch my mouth and throat have become numb and tingle after each dose. I have difficulty swallowing, it takes a little more effort. This has progressively gotten worse through the month I have been on Suboxone. Furthermore my libido has become virtually non existent and i have not been able to climax since the medication switch. I am curious if the numbness, tingle, and difficulty swallowing are allergic reactions? I know loss of libido is common on some medications, but was wondering if this maybe be related to the Suboxone as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ## Hi Bob, Sorry to hear about your experience on Suboxone. From what I've researched, NI...
