I have been taking Tramadol for at least 9 years now for chronic post-surgical right knee pain, back pain, and Arthritis. They just took Tramadol off of the $4 list at wal-mart and Target. I do not like narcotics because they make me feel sick, and have horrible withdrawal symptoms and side effects. I am already physically dependent on the Tramadol so I don't want to make it any worse by adding a Narc to it. I am allergic to NSAIDS to the point that if I take them it will kill me, Tramadol is becoming to expensive, and Tylenol doesn't even come close to alleviating my pain, I am in so much pain all of the time...what pain meds can I take that isn't expensive, works well on severe bone and joint pain and not an NSAID??? ## Actually, Tramadol is classified as an opiate/narcotic...

I have been on Tramadol for at least 9 years now, I am SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO NSAIDS, and do not like most Narcotic pain meds as they make me feel "yucky". They just took Tramadol off of the $4 list at wal-mart, and Tramadol is expensive, being allergic to NSAIDS is causing major problems in getting pain relief for me, what else can I take for pain that is not an NSAID, and inexpensive???? ## Hi Mindy, In the link below you can view a chart of prescription and non prescription pain medications ranked from weak to strong. You can use this chart to determine what other options you have as far as switching over to a stronger or less expensive medication (odds are though, if you want something higher up on this list, it will likely be more expensive): You may also want to talk to you...

My son is allergic to both of these meds and he has been prescribed Tramadol for pain. I am unable to find if this drug is related to either and what to look for. ## Hello, Mari! How is your son? No, Tramadol is actually only very distantly related to narcotics, it isn't even really considered to be one. But you should double check the information to be certain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Trammodol is an opiate. I too am allergic ## Doctor: uh man I guess we have no choice but to give him oxycontin or dilaudid. I'm guessing he's allergic to nsaids too. ## Verwon: Tramadol (Ultram) is an OPIOID...

I have been taking NSAIDS for the past 21 years. The last 10 years it has been Meloxicam 15mg/day. Over the past 7 years I have steadily become allergic to many things. I am now severly allergic to corn, soy, wheat, nuts and mold. My Asthma is now severe. The Meloxicam was no longer able to control the pain from my arthritis so a year ago out of desperation I went gluten free and found that my Arthritis was so much better but I was still going into anaphylactic shock over things I was eating that I had never had a reaction to when I was younger. I am now 58 years old. Over the past year I have gone into anaphylatic shock 16 times and I am now gluten free, corn free, soy free and nut free. In the past month I was still having some allergic reactions and heard that Meloxicam and other dru...

I can't take morphine, codene, nsaids, antibioctics, vitimins, sulfa, neurontin & prednisone.I have been on fentenal patches, & vicodin which does nothing for my pain. Now that vicodin is off the market they gave me the substitute norco 7.5 350mg. They suck. I know everything acetimin has been cut to 325mg but do these law makers realize we are just going to have to take more pills to get out of any pain? Next time I go to the dr. they will need me to be on the 10's.I don't think there are to many people like me, but in case there is does anyone know of some other pain med thats available? Hi I have it in a cream form. I have crohns and my left side stomach colon area is always swollen and sore. I'm also allergic to Ibuprofen and aspirin. I've rub a small amount on once and nothing happen but I want to try using more. ## Hello, Rick! How are you? What type of reaction do you have to Aspirin and Ibuprofen? They are both NSAIDs and so is the Ketoprofen, so you may also have a reaction to it. Did your doctor prescribe this cream?

My name is Sara. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and crohns. I take prednisone and 50 mg tramadol. I've also been prescribed cyclobenzaprine for muscle spasms. Im super sensitive to medications and im allergic to penicillin sulfa toridol, cant take nsaids as I'm allergic to shell fish. Im terrified to start the Gabapentin for spinal and nerve pain. Im afraid i will have a reaction to it. Its 300 mg every 8 hrs. Any advice or reassurance? ## Sara It's surprising that you can tolerate tramadol since that's very similar to the NSAID family. One would think tramadol would cause the same effects that NSAIDs do.Gabapentin is a drug extremely effective for nerve pain unfortunately it has a host of side effect that many find bothersome. But If your prescriber believes ...

anyone else having this problem? I looked on the internet and can't see that it's been banned. ## Hello, Cricket! How are you? What reason are they giving you for not filling it? Ketoprofen is classified by the FDA as being a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. ## Hi. Yeah, I've had the same problem. My pharmacy says that their suppliers can't get ketoprofen. The Pharmacist can't get any answers as to why ketoprofen isn't available either. I am allergic to opiates, and other NSAIDs I've tried don't work anywhere as effectively as ketoprofen. So, this is a real problem for me. I would re...

I am also looking for a pain management doctor in NJ that will write for narcotics. I just moved back here after my husband left the military. I have my medical records and I had an amazing pain doc where I was living before. Unfortunately since moving back to NJ, I'm having a hard time finding a pain managment doctor that will prescribe narcotics as well as do steroid injections. The combo works great for me. I have insurance too but no one takes it wear I live so I am willing to drive around NJ if needed. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. I cannot take NSAIDs due to them damaging my kidneys a few years ago and have reduced kidney function. When I take them, they cause an allergic reaction inside my kidneys which will damage them even further. I won't take biologics due to them be...

Found in overpacked purse. I have numerous autoimmune diseases,IBD, allergies, MCS, viruses, psoriasis. I have recently been to cataract surgery, GI doc, PCP, dermatologist. Which one may have given me the gastrocrom and how do I use it? ## I noticed barely legible print on the vial. It expired in 2001. I also researched gastrochrome and found it used for IBS as an anti inflammatory before NSAIDS were found more useful for IBS. I am allergic to all NSAIDS. I have very high inflammation markers. My thanks to all who read my post. ## It was probably your GI doctor that gave you the Gastrochrom. I was given it for collagenous collitis and mastocytosis of the colon. It does help with diarrhea. ## Pat is correct, Mastocytosis is what it is usually prescribed to treat. It can reduce such symp...

I am 81 and have severe muscular pain possibly from my spinal stenosis I'm allergic to alever and nabumetone and lipitor my doctor say I would be allergic to any of the anti inflammatory drugs so he prescribed cyclobenzarine. I'm wondering how safe this drug is It says it might cause irrregular heart beat and I have a pace maker. Would appreciate your feedback thank you ## Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. As to safety, it is as safe or unsafe as any other prescription drug, meaning there is no real answer to this. It works well for some people, with minimal or no side effects and others have problems with it. The only way to find out is by trying it. I took one of these Zomax in 1981 at the age of 19. I immediately became hot and passed out. By the time,my parents got me to the ER, I only had a pulse under my tongue. They had to shock me. I was obviously ok, however, they told me to never ever take another NSAID (anti-inflammatory) again. Now later in life, I need some NSAIDS for arthritis. Has anyone else who had a reaction taken any other types of these drugs since then? I am scared to put a Tylenol in my mouth due to this experience. ## With your history, you need to see a rheumatologist. There are many options for arthritic patients these days.
