I'll like to know if I have to take the alevian duo before or after meals ## Should I take alevian duo on an empty stomach? ## I was told take with meals. I like this, taking tablets on an empty stomach upsets me., stomach, that is. ## This antacid is usually best taken just before a meal, or while eating, so it has a change to prevent issues, such as heartburn, GERD, and gastritis, that could be caused by the food and beverages you are enjoying. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, diarrhea, and gas. There are some medications it should not be taken with, though. Are any of you on any other medications?

Thank you, Florencia ## Hi Florencia, Based on my research, The usual dose for patients with irritable bowel syndrome and similar conditions or symptoms ie: diarrhea and/or constipation, is 1 capsule twice daily, 10 - 15 minutes before breakfast and lunch. Some severe cases that are difficult to control or may require a dose increment of 1 capsule three times a day. I also read that it is helpful to those dealing with Irritable bowel syndrome to reduce 20% of the daily fat intake, doing so should help with intestinal gas. Side effects are rare, but may include: abdominal pain, pruritus, rash, regurgitation and dysphagia. This medication almost killed me, it gave me diarrhea so severe I ended up in the ER. My doctor gave me antibiotics and wanted me to continue taking Alevian Duo but nothing would stop the diarrhea until I decided to stop taking those awful pills, 24 hours after that I was OK. Months after that my doctor said we should try again and in less than 8 hours after the first pill of Alevian Duo I was feeling awful cramps and had the worse diarrhea. I’m seeking to purchase a product sold over the counter in Mexico which is called "Alevian Duo" or, if not sold in the USA, a product which has the same ingredients sold by a different name in the USA. ## Hmmm, if you aren't able to get it directly from Mexico, try searching for other products domestically by active ingredient: Looks like it contains Pinaverium Bromide and Dimethcone. Not sure what contains the exact same combination. "Pinaverium bromide was first registered in 1975 by Solvay Pharmaceuticals (now a division of Abbott Laboratories), and marketed globally using the brand names Dicetel and Eldicet. Generic pinaverium is available in South Korea under a trade name of Disten[1] and in Argentina as Nulite." - Wikipedia

Alevian duo (Bromuro de Pinaverio/dimeticona) was recently prescribed for me. It seems to be amazingly effective, but I would like to know more about the medicine. It is distributed by NYCOMED, made in Mexico for Gelcaps Exportadora de Mexico, S.Å. de C.V. ## I have a serious problem with my bowel movements, the Dr told me my colon are not moving properly, and I have an infection, also diverticulitis. He prescribed Mesalazina, now I am considering if Alevianduo would be a good medication for me, my bowels are not forming, just watery, and a lot of gas problem. I live in France now.Before that I lived in Venezuela and regularly took Alevian Duo can I get something equivalent in Europe? ## I live in Canada and cannot find Alevian Duo anywhere here.
