Aleve Advil

Both are NSAIDS but are there any advantages to taking one over the other with regard to long term use? i.e. kidney damage or other long term effects. ## Not really, both the Naproxen in the Aleve and the Ibuprofen in the Advil carry the same types of possible risks and benefits. What you really have to decide on is which one works best for you and if your doctor says it is safe for you to use such a medication. However, you do generally need to take less of the Naproxen than you do of the Ibuprofen to get the same effects. Are there any other questions?

I take one Advil PM almost every night to sleep. I also take an Aleve gel ievery morning for aches and pains, because I find that the Aleve Gel works better for my aches ## They really shouldn't be combined, since they both contain NSAIDs, the Ibuprofen in the Advil PM and the Naproxen in the Aleve. However, it really depends o how close together you are taking them. If they are being taken 8 to 10 hours apart, then there really shouldn't be any severe problems. Both of them can irritate your stomach, though, so you may experience some problems with that, but that would also result if you were just taking one of them and not 2 different ones. Are there any other comments or questions? ## So I took an alieve at like 7:30 and I want to take a Advil PM and its 8:30 is that a problem?

I am allergic to dyes and it is so difficult to find pm pain relief ## Hello, Vickie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. The PM pain relief formulas only contain the relevant medication, such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol PM), Ibuprofen (Advil PM) or Naproxen (Aleve PM) accompanied with Diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Thus, if your doctor approves, you could most likely find dye free versions of both of them and just take them separately. I know that many Acetaminophen tablets are available as just white tablets with no dyes, plus Benadryl has a dye free formulation available specifically for people with such allergies. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as possibly include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and stomach irritation. Is there ...

Where can I buy ALEVE PM?? I am unable to locate it in the Alabama ared. I talked to Bayer customer service and was informed they do not make a PM pill. ## Based on my research, Aleve PM is not on the market as of writing this; only Advil PM in that regard. The manufacturer's website also verifies this on their product page. Have you considered trying Advil PM (diphenhydramine + ibuprofen)? You can learn more about this drug on the pages for Diphenhydramine Details and Ibuprofen Details I hope this info helps!

If excedrin pm and aleve are combined, what happens ## It depends on the amount that is combined. Large amounts of it could cause severe organ damage and/or a fatal overdose. However, a normal dose will usually just result in upset stomach, headache, vomiting and stomach irritation. You may also get really drowsy and dizzy. In general, they really shouldn't be combined, because you are combining medications that all do the same things, so it isn't necessary. The Excedrin PM contains Acetaminophen and Diphenhydramine: and the Aleve contains Naproxen: Also, combining them regularly can result in organ damage, or stomach conditions such as ulcers and gastritis. Have you been combining them? ## I accidently took 2 advil pm's and then 1 hour leter took 2 aleves ## I got confused ...

I think it's just Advil gel caps but want to make sure. ## Actually, this is listed as containing 220mgs of Naproxen, so it is a generic or store brand for the Aleve gel caps. Learn more Naproxen details here. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, dizziness and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

peach color ## It's a non-steroid anti-inflammatory. It's in the same drug class as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Orudis. It is usually prescribed to take every 8 to 12 hours, unless it's the extended-release version which gets taken once a day. Good idea is to take with food or milk, it can be rough on the tummy. I used it for all-over aches with fibromyalgia and it worked well. My fibro has lessened so now I just take Advil as needed. I took the same dose, 50mg, but a doctor MAY prescribe a higher dosage if you don't get releif from the dose he/she starts you at. You want to take as low a dose as possible (in my unprofessional opinion) because like other drugs in this class, long term use can lead to stomach bleeding. It doesn't have any properties that it would make you h...

My meloxicam is white, round, no split in middle on either side and has 100 on one side. Can I take aspirin , aleve or advil withit. I took meloxicam about 8 or more hours ago. ## Hello, Jeanette! How are you? There is a round, pale yellow/off-white tablet with the marking 100 on one side that contains 15mgs of Meloxicam. Is that what you have? And no, you shouldn't mix the other medications with it, because Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, which is exactly what Aspirin, Aleve and Advil also contain, just different ones. Is there anything else I can help with?

Should I take tylnol, Advil, Alive or Asprin for body akes? ## Hello, LT! How are you? If you are taking it to lower your blood pressure, then it's very likely that you need to refrain from taking the NSAIDs, such as Advil, Aleve or Aspirin, because they can actually cause blood pressure elevation. You need to check with your doctor to make sure of which is safest for you, but it's likely that you need to stick with just Tylenol. ## Have been taking one Losartan /hct 100-12.5 every morning for about 4 months. I take blood pressure readings in the morning, noon & evening. My readings are almost always above 150/85. About one month ago my doctor also put me on atenolol 50MG to be taken one in the morning & one in the evening. I haven't noticed any improvement! The last ...

Hi been on Meloxicam for a solid month 15mg. for knee problem. Want to come off because of weight gain. How long do you have to be off before taking aleve or advil? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? Since they are all nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, you should be able to just make a smooth transition by replacing the Meloxicam with one of the others, when it's time to take your next dose, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

pain killer for dog ## Do you mean Deramaxx (Deracoxib) ? Deracoxib is a member of the class of drugs known as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), the same class as such common over-the-counter remedies as Advil (Ibuprofen), Aleve (Naproxen), Orudis (ketoprofen), and Aspirin. The chief use for such drugs in the dog has been pain relief, usually joint pain or post-surgical pain relief.

I am allergic to many drugs and need to know since I am on blood pressure meds and epileptic meds also. please let me know as soon as possible as i need to get something for this pain and inflamation. Thank You. ## Anaprox contains the active ingredient Naproxen Sodium, a prescription strength of the same stuff that's in Aleve. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. I cannot give you any information on possible interactions since you didn't say what your medications were, but the allergy and interactions info is something your pharmacy should check when filling your prescripton. Have you talked to the pharmacist, yet?

What can I take for pain such as headache and/or menstrual cramps? Been on Xarelto for just under a week. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? You should check with your doctor, before taking anything, but you should be okay to take Tylenol. Just not any of the NSAIDs, such as Advil or Aleve, since they can increase the risk of bleeding. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, joint/muscle aches and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the response Verwon. I do have a couple of other questions. I'm chronically anemic and have heavy menstrual cycles. On taking either Tylenol or Advil I become wheezy, and have rapid breathing, which lasts approximately 1 hour with Tylenol but up 4 hours with Advil. I have previously been diagnosed with Aspirin and Ibuprofen sensitivity and told not to use. However, I am now experiencing similar reactions when I take Tylenol. I need an alternative to use occasionally, for fever reduction, headache aches and pains currently associated with flu.. ## Have you tried Naproxen? It's the active ingredient in Aleve and the generic or store brands of it. Learn more Naproxen details here. I'd suggest asking if it's safe for you to try it. Alternatively, you could also look into the prescription anti-inflammatories. Have you tried any of them?

WHITE, OVAL ## I am sorry, I cannot find a listing for this in any of our resources. What I can tell you, however, is that pills marked with an L followed by three additional numbers are over the counter products. This company makes many store brands and generics of common items such as Tylenol, Aleve and Advil. There is just no comprehensive database of OTC items and their markings. Does anyone else recognize this? ## I just submitted an inquiry with Leiner Health Products, whom I believe to be the manufacturer. Hope that they will get back to me ASAP, and I will post any other details as I find them as well!
