My doctor prescribed co aleva for 1 week. And he advised me not to eat chicken, seafoods, peanuts and cheese but i cant stop myself from eating those foods. And everytime i eat that food my allergy was active and i take co aleva every time i have allergic reactions. Is there any side effect I need to worry about if i always take that co aleva? ## If you are allergic to those foods, you do have to stop eating them. If you continue to indulge your allergies could continue to get worse, and may become life threatening. A medication will not always be enough to correct this problem, since allergen exposures can get worse with time. NOTE: Co-Aleva (Ebastine + Betamethasone) combines an antihistamine and a steroid to treat a wide variety of ailments, including but not limited to allergies, in...

Will co-aleva treat an itchy throat and cough? ## In short, it can, depending on the underlying cause of the itchy throat and cough. Co-Aleva contains Ebastine + Betamethasone. -Ebastine is an antihistamine used for allergies. -Betamethasone is a steroid. If your cough/itchy throat is bacterial or viral, then Co-Aleva may not be a viable option. However, if it's due to allergies or other related immune conditions then I can see why this might be prescribed. Were you able to get any feedback from your doctor?

My four year old son's doctor prescribed him co-aleva, she said that I would divide the tablet into two so that would give my son half of the tablet at bedtime. Now my question is, is it ok for my four year old son to take this tablet? Because I had read about some Infos regarding this medicine that it is only for adults? Please enlighten me, thanks so much ## Hi, Viktoria! Actually almost all medications available are used in both children and adults, it's just the dosage and dosing frequency that changes. However, I have to admit that if it were my child, I wouldn't want to give this to them at even half the dosage. The reason I am saying that is due to the fact that it contains Betamethasone, which is a steroid class medication. This doesn't contain a huge amount of i...

Actually, I am not the one who gonna take this med, it is my mother who is a stroke victim and I am worried that if she will take this med, we don't know yet the reaction in her condition. ## Has she been told to take it by a medical professional? What other medications is she taking? This medication is listed as containing Ebastine, and Betamethasone, both of which can sometimes cause elevated blood pressure and heart rate, so it might not be safe for her to take it, according NIH reports. I suffered congestive heart failure and high blood pressure, and there are some medications that I cannot safely take, either. She shouldn't take anything her doctor has not approved. Doing so could be very risky, she might even experience another stroke, if she takes something she shouldn...

Is co-aleva for tonsilitis? My doctor has prescribed me a few months ago. And im having a terrible tonsilitis now, can i drink Co-Aleva to treat? ## Tonsillitis is most commonly due to an infection, so this medication will not help eradicate such an issue. You will most likely require an antibiotic. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Have you consulted your doctor, again?

I have a contact allergy and this is the medicine that works for me. Every time I stopped using taking this medicine, the rushes in my hands appeared. Just want to know what will happen if I take this medicine longer than my doctor's prescribed time frame? ## Co-Aleve contains the active ingredients Ebastine and Betamethasone, it is used to treat seasonal allergies, but since the Betamethasone is a steroid class medication, it can cause some serious complications if used for a very long period of time. You should speak to your doctor about finding something else that is safe for you to use long-term. I am still not sure if i am pregnant and have yet to check with a home kit. Now my allergic rhinitis is triggered by the weather my doctor gave me co-aleva however i fort to ask if it is pregnancy-friendly. Please advise. ## My wife is pregnant, she can't take a Co. Aleva.for her maintance of asthma. ## No, the U.S. FDA places the Betamethasone in Co-Aleva as being in pregnancy category C, which means it is a drug that has been suspected of causing fetal harm. However, there are some cases where it can be beneficial for an underdeveloped fetus, so it should be taken if your doctor deems it necessary. Otherwise, if a woman is pregnant, it would be best to consult their doctor about taking an alternative medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

my mother's doctor prescribe her ebastine betamethasone co-aleva to treat her allergy relating to asthma the first drug that we bought ebastine betamethasone co-aleva was given to me but in the second time i bought the drug the pharmacist gave me ebastine aleva. i wonder if these two medicines are the same? ## No, as you mentioned, the Co-Aleva contains both Ebastine and Betamethasone, however, the Aleva just contains Ebastine, so it will not do the same as the first medication did. The Betamethasone is a steroid class medication, that is used to treat allergic reactions and swelling. Have you tried asking the pharmacist why they made the switch?

I have been using co aleva for about three years. I take only one tablet every 3 days for I found this dosage sufficient in controlling my recurring rhinitis. Are there foreseeable side effects in this practice in the long run? Thank you and God bless. ## Thank you for taking up my question. I live in the Philippines. As mentioned, the dosage (one tablet every 3 days) that I use for three years seems satisfactory to control my rhinitis. My only worry is whether it can have a side effect in the long term. Thanks and God bless. ## I know a person who took co aleva for a year and now he has the cushing's syndrome. His fault was he just bought it over the counter without consulting a doctor for its extended use. I'm also from the Philippines.

How long can I take Co-Aleva since I have psoriasis? When I stopped after taking it for 14 days I had a very bad flare up, because I still eat foods that I'm not allowed to like foods with Gluten and Dairy. I think what's happening to me is what we called "withdrawal"? Can I try to take it again just for 7 days and stop eating foods that's not allowed to see if it will clear up? ## If you stop a medication that you are taking for a certain condition, and the condition flares up, again, that would be called a rebound effect. If you continue to eat foods that you aren't supposed to, then the flare may not even be related to stopping the medication, or it could be a combination of both. Co-Aleva contains Betamethasone [1] (a corticosteroid) + Ebastine (an antihistam...

Hi.i just wanted to know if co aleva makes you fat?i was advised to take this medicine 2x a day for 1 week..my friends kept on telling me that steroids medicine will make you fat.my doctor said it's a mild steroid and it doesn't make you fat.i just wanted to make sure.please let me know.thanks ## Steroids can cause weight gain and fluid retention as side effects, but that is usually with long-term use. If you are only taking it for a week, you shouldn't have a problem and will most likely experience the short-term side effects that the NIH lists which typically include nausea, nervousness, headache, and insomnia.
