Two months ago I went to my pain clinic to pick up my prescriptions for 120 60mg morphine pills and 90 30mg morphine pills .My prescriptions were changed without warning to 60 100mg morphine pills and 45 30mg morphine pills. I've been on this medication for 5yrs. and the dosage for over a year.My pain was manageable but not now. I was told everyone was cut back due to dea regulations. That they could legally only prescribe this amt now n Alabama. Is this true? ## Yes, it is true and actually the regulations for this have been in place for quite awhile, but no one was strictly enforcing them. However, due to increasing concerns over improper prescribing and over prescribing, the DEA has had to crackdown and enforce the dosing limits. Pharmacies also got served warnings, because they w...

A 22year old is prescripted adderal. It makes her on highs and lows. At times she is very violent and hurts people . This weekend she attacked her father and boy friend. She was also drinking . She invited about 60 people that she didn't know many to a party on a waterway n y The woods. She is my granddaughter and I love her dearly. ## Hello, Norma! How are you? I'm so very sorry about the problems your granddaughter is having. Adderall is a stimulant, so it has been known to cause that type of behavior in some people that take it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight loss, insomnia and anorexia. She may be taking too much, or it might not be the right medication for her. As to combining it with alcohol,...

Where is a reliable doctor who still prescribes and treats my anxiety with xanax, ## Hello, Lizzie! How are you? If you require such a medication for long-term ongoing use, you'll need to see a specialist, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. Do you currently have PCP that could refer you to someone? That would likely be the easiest way to find the help you need. ## You know Verwon, that is the type of advice that could make a sick person make a rash decision. Not all areas have Specialists available, and many have long waits. Most Psychiatrists do not participate in Insurance either? Do you know for a fact that Alabama has these regulations in place. I'd say most States don't? Where is a list of the States that are under these newer rules? You must h...

Hi I am 40 years old and have trouble sleeping since I was a child due to horrible pain inv my legs and hips. I have gone 3 full days before with no sleep because the pain is so bad. I had some kidney stones removed just before Christmas and was prescribed norco 10-325. I broke those tablets in half and after the second day I realized that the pain I have suffered with for over 20 years was relieved with this medication. Unfortunately I ran out 2 days ago and I am now again unable to ignore the pain in my legs and find sleep. Help!!! Is there a doctor here in montgomery that would possibly prescribe this medication without assuming I am an addict? I also do not have insurance and limited income. ## Hello, Tina! How are you? If you have no insurance, it's going to be tough, because i...

I am the paternal nana to my 19 yr old g'daughter who attends a Tuscaloosa, AL Community College. She hasn't been feeling well and thinks it all started when she was given a prescription for birth control pills (not associated with intercourse or acne). Off-hand I can't recall why she is taking them. Shortly after taking them she started in vomiting about two hours after arising in the morning. She came to me at my home in Buford, GA to discuss her problems. I told her I would try to find the best intern doctor there is in her area and let her know so she can go ahead and make her appointment. I am hoping and praying you can give me the name of the best in that area. Thanks in advance for your response. ## Hello, Esther! Does she have a regular PCP? If so, the best thing for...

Need an pain clinic too treat my pain i have had 2 knee surgerys and taken 2-3 Norco 10 is not treating my pain i also have back pain ## Try TVPC/Spine and Neuro Center in Huntsville. Dr Morris Scherlis is my anesthesiologist and he is great. My only issue with them really is that for office visits I have to see one of his two staff members and the guy(Greg) is kind of an ass. Sorta condescending and suspicious of patients it seems. Also, I have a few other issues besides my back/sciatic pain and I was on several different meds for it including Ativan for anxiety/stress and ambien for sleeping problems due to my pain...I've weaned myself off both of them in the past year and done the same with my muscle relaxers. I was so sick of taking so much medication I just had to do something....

My dr in Mont., AL has been prescribing me 3 80mg oxycontin for several years. My visit last week he refilled my script and said it could be the last because he was told there was diversion possibly coming from his practice. Btw that was 3 a day. If he doesn't refill my script on my next visit, I need to find a Dr. quick. Is it legal not to wean a patient off? The pain clinics in this town are full. ## If he cannot continue to prescribe, he should be able to refer to another doctor or clinic that will accept his current patients. Has he suggested anyone? And yes, it is perfectly legal for a doctor to stop prescribing your medications, even if they are habit forming, at any time. They are not obligated to treat you or prescribe anything, unless you are in life threatening danger. As ...

This is so sad. If medications were legal for responsible adults, we would not have this problem. This problem lies with the fact that many people sell their medication or abuse it. Be honest with your physician and you will be amazed at the help you will get. BTW, methadone will kill you. If you aren't ready to detox, go to someone that prescribes Suboxone. It will not cost you anymore than methadone will. You will get a monthly supply. Just reading these posts breaks my heart. It is obvious that many of you are drug addicts. I am not throwing stones but why would someone go for a week without their medication if it is needed? The reason is that they sell it. Dr.'s are not stupid. We can smell a lie a mile away and we don't want to get our license revoked because of your li...

I wanted to know what pharmacies carry the 2mg green xanax bars so I can fill my script. I live in a town called Bessemer, Alabama. If you know of any pharmacies around my location I would really appreciate the help. ## There is nothing in the green pill that you won't find in any other color. It won't do anything different, and green tablets don't taste better or cost less. Bessemer is a smaller town, try Target. ## Hi I’m live in the Birmingham/Bessemer area I have severe anxiety and panic attacks and my doctor moved to Wisconsin. So now I’m looking for a new doctor who will prescribe me clonazapm and Xanax. I’m having awful luck with current doctors and I’ve tried just about all the SSRI’s and mood enhancers they’re awful. I get a prescription of oxycodone 30 mg from my doctor. But now he says that DEA said that he only can prescribe only half of what I was getting. It's not only me but all of his people that he sees. My question is can I go to another doctor and get percocet 10s since its not the same thing and mg and not get in trouble for doctor shopping? I live in Alabama. ## Yes, that would still be considered doctor shopping. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anyone know??? I need help? ## Hello, Bev! How are you? They do have a search engine that you can use to check for doctors in your area. You can find it at Suboxone.com click here. It allows you to search by zip code and will provide the doctor's contact information, so you can call them to see if they have patient openings. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My pain doctor just informed me that he can longer offer refills on my norco because of it being classed as a schedule 2 drug norcotic now. That means i must go every month now and pay for an office visit. I know that is true in New York but i am not aware of any changes in Alabama law. As I do not have insurance now that would be a huge added expense to me. It would be a big added expensive even if I did with a $60 copay. Does anyone know of this change in legislation that I cant find? ## Hello, Craig! How are you? Yes, this change actually goes into effect at the beginning of October for the entire U.S. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. does dr. Harrison write methadone still for sure cause I can't afford to go & him not write it!!! ## did you ever find out about this doc writing methadone? ## I don't know how many Dr. Harrison's there are in the state of Alabama, but you might need to get a little more specific with the location/city if you're referring to a certain type of physician. I had found about four different Dr. Harrison's there on google just now. In many cases, I also think it would be important to let your medical records speak for themselves when it comes to finding someone who is willing to give you what you truly need. It's a tough game to play, since a lot of doctors tend to see it as drug seeking behavior when you openly ask them for a specific medication right off the bat....

Is anyone living in Alabama getting pill cuts of methadone? My doctor told me it was because of Governor Bentley signing in new opiate restriction for all pain doctors. (Not Clinics). Is anyone else going through this pill cut? I have never failed a drug panel nor have any of my pill counts been off. I know I have done nothing wrong so I just wanted to see if anyone else is being cut also... (I was wondering if maybe my doctor may have got in trouble and this is why but I don't know)? ## Hello, Sami! How are you?
