I just started takin amox for ear infection and they gave me hydroco 5-325mg but it wont take the pain away I waz wondering can I take ibuprofen. Is that a big nono???? ## Yes, you can take 800mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours. I wouldnt take any more than that, it can be rough on the stomach. Take with a full stomach of food. I've had severe tooth pain from an abcess, and Ibuprofen worked better than the Tylenol3 with Codeine the dentist gave me. ## I totally agree with Leo. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 with Codeine post surgery, but the Codeine gave me such a bad headache that I ended up taking Advil for pain relief and it worked well for me.

I have taken Indomethacine for chronic inflammation (possible spondylitis) for 3 weeks and it seemed to make the pain worse than while taking Advil. I switched to Meloxicam and have been taking it for a week. Again, no relief and perhaps it's even worse! Is it possible for these drugs to worsen the pain? How long does it generally take to get relief while taking these meds? ## Unfortunately, some people do experience the opposite of the intended effects from any given medication. It could be that you may need to explore other treatment options. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding. Have you only tried NSAIDs, so far?

large yellow oblong pill one side marked with C other side 01 70 ## This is a non-narcotic, non-steroidal (or NSAID) anti-immflammatory medication. The most common side effects are stomach upset and other gastrointenstinal problems (especially if not taken with food or milk.)

I need a USA equivalent after dental implants ## It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, this one, Dexketoprofen, isn't available here, but there are several others that are, both over the counter and via prescription. A couple over the counter ones are Aleve and Advil. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Which one has your dentist recommended?

Is there anything that has proven successful for anyone else to relieve stomach pain? I have tried beano, pepto, tylenol/advil. Ive taken the meds with food, without food. There has to be something that has worked for someone else other than what is in the instructions from the manufacturer. Thanks. ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. If nothing is working to help and the pain is that bad, this just might not be the right medication to help you. Have you discussed the problem with your prescriber? Not all medications can be taken by everyone that tries them. Have you tried any other methods to quit smoking?

Pain pill that does not leave you drowsy. Used for tail bone pain. White tablet 1P190 / 500 ## This contains 500mgs of Naproxen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. The inscription is actually IP instead of 1P (NDC 53746-190). Inactive Ingredients: - Croscarmellose Sodium - Povidone - Magnesium Stearate Common side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. ## Does 1p190 500 have narcotics in it? ## No - Naproxen is not a narcotic (opioid) medication. It's an NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory), in the same family as Ibuprofen (Advil)

I take one Advil PM almost every night to sleep. I also take an Aleve gel ievery morning for aches and pains, because I find that the Aleve Gel works better for my aches ## They really shouldn't be combined, since they both contain NSAIDs, the Ibuprofen in the Advil PM and the Naproxen in the Aleve. However, it really depends o how close together you are taking them. If they are being taken 8 to 10 hours apart, then there really shouldn't be any severe problems. Both of them can irritate your stomach, though, so you may experience some problems with that, but that would also result if you were just taking one of them and not 2 different ones. Are there any other comments or questions? ## So I took an alieve at like 7:30 and I want to take a Advil PM and its 8:30 is that a problem?

What is the strongest OTC medication that will alleviate excruciating pain in my back and shoulders in a timely manner? Your quickest response to my message will be greatly appreciated! Happy and safe Holidays to ALL! ## The strongest medications available over the counter would be nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, such as Advil and Aleve. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. However, before taking anything, you should have this checked in order to figure what's causing the pain and what your doctor advises you to take for it. Are you on any prescription medications? Do you have any other medical conditions?

I have a friend who has run out of medication and is experiencing withdrawal. He will not have his prescribed medication for 4 or 5 days. I am looking for he remedies, etc. to help him get through his physical symptoms and discomfort he is experiencing. ## Hello Care Taker! How are you? There really isn't much that's going to help. When I went cold turkey off of narcotic pain management, I found that relaxing in a warm bath helped the symptoms more than anything else. If it's okay with his doctor for him to take it, Tylenol or Advil may help a little with the rebound pain and Benadryl or Bonine for the nausea. Side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and stomach irritation. How did he end up running out?

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. My endodontist prescribed this for pain after doing a root canal. Will this be of help under these circumstances? ## Hello, Ronnie! How are you? This medication is most commonly used to treat migraines and tension headaches. The Acetaminophen in it may help with some pain relief from the root canal, but I doubt it will do much. Have you tried it, yet? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, sedation and stomach irritation. ## Hi! I ended up not using the medication. I had very little discomfort after the root canal and just took a couple of Advil. All the possible side affects kinda worried me also. Thanks for answering. I have some IBuprofin. 800 and can u take 2 at a time for severe back pain ## Dear Redfire, I would not recommend taking more then one at a time. Taking one is like taking 4 Advil, so taking 2 is like taking 8 Advil. It could cause problems with you're stomach, not 2 mention dangerous effects. ## The maximum recommended dosage of Ibuprofen for adults is listed at 800mgs, to be taken four times daily. Given the increased risk of side effects, it probably would end up doing more harm than good if you were to take two of these. One thing I would suggest trying as a form of adjunctive therapy is essential oils. Many of them are really great at relieving sore muscles and aches. I find combinations like Lavender and Peppermint oil to have excellent anti-inflammatory effects as well. You c...

started taken meloxicam 15mg a week tomorrow, for psoratic arthritis it has not reduced the pain, do I need to take it longer before it kicks in. also i have cramp in my hands and pins & needels ## Hello, Mary! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. That said, it should have started to help right away, similar to Tylenol or Advil. If not, it's most likely not the right medication to help you and you'll need to see your doctor to try something else. Is there anything else I can help with?

How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. You should definitely speak to your doctor, it might not be the right medication for you to handle your pain. There is also a risk of stomach damage and/or liver damage from taking the Advil frequently in such amounts. You are at the current maximum for the Gabapentin. I've been on Mobic for three days now,how long will it take for me to see if it's working. I have severe back problems. ## Hello, Patty! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The FDA classifies this as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so similar to Advil or Motrin, it should start to have some effect within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, though it may take about 4 weeks, before it reaches its full level of efficacy in your body. Have you gotten any pain relief, at all, from it? Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
