I am taking 150mg to 300mg of Lyrica daily. The problem here is that I do not have a prescription. I take them from my boyfriends' bottle which he is prescribed. I am on other medication that are prescribed to me such as; Methadone, Prozac, Lorazepam, Seroquel (just to name a few). I started taking Lyrica because I was curious. Now I am addicted to the stuff and I'm too afraid to tell my doctor or my boyfriend. I am more depressed, anxious, think about death all the time and cry constantly. I have difficulties communicating to my therapist because when I open my mouth to speak, I begin crying uncontrollably. I am a mess, and I am afraid that I will eventually exit stage left. ## Hi, Ashley! Sorry about the issues you're having. Lyrica is actually not an opiate pain reliever,...

I'm here to try and help someone because I'm in the same boat as everyone here. I started using percs 10 years ago and got off them about 6 years. Well, I started back up 3 years ago. I am taking up to 15/day for 3 years consecutively without missing one day. I'm not going to go into the drawn out story about why I started, like everyone else here, the point is "we're all addicted". So I'm writing now because I'm in day 2 of slow detoxing. 15 a day for 3 years solid is not easy, however, I can say to those of you who are looking to lessen with the withdrawal symptoms should try this. It's not for everyone because a lot of people will stop cold turkey, which can be dangerous, depending on the individual. I'm a nurse who has a career teaching at a u...

Ive been on this med for months now for migraines, after taking it for awhile ive noticed my anxiety went to an all time low, but,I was prescribed 300 2x a day..well ive taken alot more, its been 3 almost 4 days and im spazing without them..ive made a dr appointment to let my dr know ive taken alot more prescribed and idk what to expect...im nervous of what he will say..any others that have delt with this? ## Hello, Tammy! How are you doing? Telling your doctor is the best thing to do. Gabapentin is actually classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant that is also used to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, that's likely why it alleviated your anxiety. Although it is not an opiate, it has been known to be abused, in some cases. Its typical side effects may pos...

I've been on 10mg of oxy for about 6 months and also went thru a major depression to which I take an anti depressant for. My depression is under control, but I get anxiety so I use the oxy for that. Doc wants me off the oxy, and suggested tapering slowly and possible using clonodine to help with the anxiety during this taper. Can I really be addicted after 6 months? I do know that if I miss my dose I get more anxiety. ## Hello, Mmei! How are you? I believe you're misunderstanding the FDA and DEA definition of addiction. Addiction occurs, when someone abuses a medication, by taking more and more of it to keep experiencing the energizing effect of the high that it makes them feel. Since those are just side effects, they eventually wear off, so they have to take more to get those f...

Hi, my niece has been taking Stil-Pane now for a number of years. Since i am now living with my sister i am shocked to experience the quantities she takes at any given time. Between 40-60 tablets and sometimes more. One day not too long ago she consumed 80. I have read that the drug can eventually cause liver and kidney damage, now i know why she drinks large amounts of water!!. My questions is why do doctors keep handing out repeated scripts for Stil-Pane??? This leads me to my next question, she is not on a Medical Aid and is able to receive the tablets over the counter at various pharmacies even when the script is not in her name?? ( her parents) Surely there should be some sort of control being as it is a schedule 5 drug!! The most worrying factor for me is that one day something drasti

I am suffering sleepless with psychological disorder..... that time I was consulting a psychiatric doctor... then I was told to the doctor about my sleeping problem.... he suuggested ALPRAX 0.5mg... from that time to present day varaku minimum 5 pills taking to sleep... maximum 10 or more pills I was taken sometime... now I have a very big doubt... this is Right or Wrong.... ## Have no doubt, this is very wrong. You can take a bunch more per day and probably be fine. When you run out however all those pills can place you in Withdrawal and you might become very sick. In other words you are playing with fire using Xanax ## This drug is not nice and I am dependent on it. ## If I said that Alprazolam was fantastic for male enhancement, I'd probably get loads of people actually agreeing ...

Can you ge addicted to saboxin/ ## if i have been off saboxin for more then a month do i still need it or can i stay off of it ## I have a nephew who has been on saboxin for more than a year, when he runs out of the medication he get the ddts. Icosts him over 300 dollars a month for these pills, is it possible for him the rid this habit? ## Yes, Suboxone does carry the risk of being habit forming, that's why people are usually very slowly tapered off of it, and it has successfully helped many people become completely drug free. It contains the active ingredients Buprenorphine, and Naloxone, and ...

i took 1- 5mg methadone for 3 days can you be addicted, i am afraid to take anymore because someone told me i can get addicted, i've only taken 1 a day, for my pain ## LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER REGARDING TAKING 1- 5 MG METHADONE CAN YOU GET ADDICTED IF YOU TAKE THEM 3 DAYS IN A ROW 1 PILL A DAY ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? Yes, it is possible, Methadone is actually notorious for being addicting very fast, even at low doses. It doesn't always happen, but the risk is there. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. There are other pain medications you can try that aren't as risky. You might want to ask your doctor about them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi. Where did you get the met...

I've taken 15mg of meloxicam for years for joint pain. I can tell a big difference when I have to stop taking it for medical procedures. Is there a risk in use for years and is it addictive? My doctors office called today to reduce to 7.5mg daily. ## Hello, PB! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so no, it's not addictive in the same sense that an opiate can be, but your body does get used to anything you take on a regular basis for a long period of time and suddenly stopping it will be noticeable and may result in some minor withdrawal effects, such as aches, pain, headaches and diarrhea. As to risks with long-term use, yes, there are some, such as stomach ulceration and liver damage, or failure. Is there anything else I can help...

Hi. I am currently addicted to 60 mgs of oxys. I find myself going into withdrawal after 12 hours. My question is if I take my last dose at six pm how long do I have to wait to take Zubsolv? I have taken them before and went into bad withdrawals. I was so dizzy and nauseous I had to leave work. I only have 4 of the 5.7 Zubsolv pills and have to do a quick detox. Can anyone out there give some advice on how I can go about doing this? I am sick and tired of living this way. Would really appreciate some help. ## Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you must be in full withdrawal, before taking the Zubsolv, otherwise you could be thrown into dangerous precipitate withdrawals, again. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it ...

My mom is addicted to oxycodone. Her doctor prescribes her 30 mg - 6/pills a day. She has done this for years due to back and hip pain. Surgery is not an option. I have taken over her meds and only give her what the doctor prescribes because she would take more than 6 a day and then run out before she could get any more. She also takes aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen, advil etc. Her doctor has told her not to take other pain meds as it will destroy her internal organs over time. She will not listen to anyone! She complains constantly of hurting from her chest to stomach area and feel sure it is from the many pain meds she takes. What can be done? ## Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about your mom's situation. It really sounds like her tolerance has peaked with the medications she's been takin...

As you know from the topic I am addicted to tramadol er 100mg twice a day. I want to come out from addiction. I tried so many times but failed due to pain I also can't sleep at all please help me. Please let me know other medicines for the replacement of tramadol. Thank you ## Tramadol is a mild opioid, so anything equivalent that you could try to replace it with would also carry the risk of being habit forming. Have you sought medical help for this issue? Usually, a slow taper is needed to help prevent the worst of the withdrawal symptoms, which may include nausea, fever, chills, diarrhea, depression, insomnia and rebound pain. ## Tramadol is not mild in any form or fashion. Dosed out on 50 mg is huge, make no mistakes. You can see this because doctors say nothing regarding its dow...

We live in a nation where drugs are created for every conceivable human feeling. Do you ever wonder if these feelings are normal and not meant to be drugged away? What if your depression and anxiety were you body's natural way of telling you something is going on with you, that you need to pay attention to something inside of you? Seriously, how else would our mind and body alert us if something is wrong, if not through our depression and anxiety? Are we then actually harming ourselves by medicating away our body's natural reaction to stress? I like to hear your thoughts on why we should or shouldn't stop taking drugs. ## You are so correct with this statement. Our bodies are telling us it isnt working right, but most doctors are too quick with the ink pen to try to find the...

I am a 29 year old female, healthy, no smoking & drinking habits. I've never had sleep problem until my child was born last Oct. Since Dec I was suffering a bad insomnia and OB perscripted Temazepam 15 mg for treatment and I am still breastfeeding. As I felt very depressed even with the sleep I got I went to a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with postpartum depression and put me on Zoloft. By the time I was already on Tema for about 4 weeks. My second visit of the psychiatrist he asked whether my sleep had improved with Zoloft (the antidepressant) and I told him I was still on Tema every night. He seemed concerned and told me I should only take Tema 3 times most per week (funny my OB did not mention only use it AS NEEDED when she first perscripted me the Tema, and I got a refill),...

I have severe lower back pain and i would like to know if i just take 1 hydrcodone as needed a day will i become addicted Is there a non narcotic pain med they works just as well so i don't have to worry about addiction ? ## Hello, Dra! How are you? I think you may be confusing dependence and addiction. Dependence can occur with anything that you ingest regularly for a long period of time, even your morning coffee. If you stop abruptly, you will usually experience some minor withdrawal effects, but they aren't commonly serious or dangerous. However, addiction occurs when someone abuses something. Usually, they like some side effect that it causes, such as a feeling of being high, but those eventually wear off, so they have to keep taking more and more to get that feeling back. T...

Can I become addicted to hydocodone/apap 5mg/325mg 1 tab 4 times daily? ## Well, first you need to understand the difference between addiction and dependence. Addiction happens when someone abused a medication, because they like the effects it has on them, so they keep taking more and more of it, since those effects gradually wear off, as their body gets used to the medication. A sudden cessation in these cases can result in very dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Dependence is what occurs when you use a medication, as prescribed, for a long period of time. It happens just because your body has gotten used to having it on a regular basis. A sudden cessation in these cases results in much more mild withdrawal symptoms that usually don't put the person in any danger. So, if you are taking...

I have advanced psoriatic arthritis and have had 4 major spine surgeries. Without the drug I the pain would be intolerable. I have taken Hydrocodone for many years yet I don’t feel like I’m addicted. I don’t have any of the symptoms I read others are having. I have had some constipation but that’s controlled. Nausea is controlled easily by just eating before taking the med. No other issues. I’m prescribed 5 a day but only take 3 most days. Most likely unless the government outlaws the drug i’ll be on this the rest of my life due to the pain associated with this and other diseases. Because of this drug I am able to lead a fairly active lifestyle for a 72 year old. From what you read on the Net if you take this you have to be addicted and I just don...

I have a oxycondin 30mg problem so I started taking perk 10mg to try and come off the OxyCondin but I'm eating them like they are skittles. Now I'm consuming thirty a day of perks 10mg. I have ate thirty perks like three or four times already. What I want to know or if someone could help me and tell me please if it is too much for my liver? P.s I don't have any pain. ## Yes, if you're taking that many Percocet a day, you are putting yourself in serious danger and may already have done permanent liver damage. The Acetaminophen in it can be toxic if you take too much in a day and if you're taking 30 of them, even at the lowest dosage of Acetaminophen, which is 325mgs that's 9,750mgs a day and it's toxic at 4,000mgs a day. Such toxicity has even been fatal in so...
