I am taking 150mg to 300mg of Lyrica daily. The problem here is that I do not have a prescription. I take them from my boyfriends' bottle which he is prescribed. I am on other medication that are prescribed to me such as; Methadone, Prozac, Lorazepam, Seroquel (just to name a few). I started taking Lyrica because I was curious. Now I am addicted to the stuff and I'm too afraid to tell my doctor or my boyfriend. I am more depressed, anxious, think about death all the time and cry constantly. I have difficulties communicating to my therapist because when I open my mouth to speak, I begin crying uncontrollably. I am a mess, and I am afraid that I will eventually exit stage left. ## Hi, Ashley! Sorry about the issues you're having. Lyrica is actually not an opiate pain reliever,...

I'm here to try and help someone because I'm in the same boat as everyone here. I started using percs 10 years ago and got off them about 6 years. Well, I started back up 3 years ago. I am taking up to 15/day for 3 years consecutively without missing one day. I'm not going to go into the drawn out story about why I started, like everyone else here, the point is "we're all addicted". So I'm writing now because I'm in day 2 of slow detoxing. 15 a day for 3 years solid is not easy, however, I can say to those of you who are looking to lessen with the withdrawal symptoms should try this. It's not for everyone because a lot of people will stop cold turkey, which can be dangerous, depending on the individual. I'm a nurse who has a career teaching at a u...

Am taking zolpidem 10mg drastically and now suffering from both physical and mental problems...i have decided to stop and seeking help from deaddiction specialist...how long it will take and how much pain will be a deaddiction treatment ## Hello, Denny! How are you? What do you mean by taking it drastically? How much have you been taking each day? This is just a sleeping pill that is only meant to be taken at night, just before you go to bed. It can be habit forming, in a way, as people may become dependent on it for sleep, but it's usually not addictive like other drugs, such as narcotics. Have you consulted your doctor for assistance?

if ur not an addict, what will happen taking 4mg of suboxone ## I took 4mg before all it did was make me feel not very good kind of a sick feeling. God Bless ## Suboxone contains Buprenoprhine and Naloxone, the latter is used to help prevent the abuse of other narcotics while someone is being treated with it, but the Buprenoprhine is a very potent narcotic opiate, so that may be a high dose for someone that isn't opiate tolerant. Thus, they'd need to know to watch for any danger signs, such as shallow breathing, severe sedation and drowsiness, extreme dizziness and vomiting and if they experience them, they should seek medical attention immediately. Drug addiction is widely considered a pathological state. The disorder of addiction involves the progression of acute drug use to the development of drug-seeking behavior, the vulnerability to relapse, and the decreased, slowed ability to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) has categorized three stages of addiction: preoccupation/anticipation, binge/intoxication, and withdrawal/negative affect. These stages are characterized, respectively, everywhere by constant cravings and preoccupation with obtaining the substance; using more of the substance than necessary to experience the intoxicating effects; and experiencing tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, and decreased motivation for normal life activities. Ive been on this med for months now for migraines, after taking it for awhile ive noticed my anxiety went to an all time low, but,I was prescribed 300 2x a day..well ive taken alot more, its been 3 almost 4 days and im spazing without them..ive made a dr appointment to let my dr know ive taken alot more prescribed and idk what to expect...im nervous of what he will say..any others that have delt with this? ## Hello, Tammy! How are you doing? Telling your doctor is the best thing to do. Gabapentin is actually classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant that is also used to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, that's likely why it alleviated your anxiety. Although it is not an opiate, it has been known to be abused, in some cases. Its typical side effects may pos...

Hi I have been on oxycodone since 2009 after a back op. I'm just at the end of my tether and don't no how to deal with life anymore!!! My doctors a joke and doesn't want to know! I just wanna know if I could stop slowly and deal with my back pain or stop suddenly and go thru the pain which I've never done!!! My body lets me know if my tablets late. In fact I need it before the 12 hours are up. Any advice would be cool. ## Hello, Peter! How are you? A slow taper would be best, to help prevent the worst of the withdrawal symptoms. As listed by the U.S. FDA, they may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, rebound pain, anxiety and diarrhea. What dosage do you currently take? ## Hi, thanks for the reply. My script is 10 x 4 oxynorm but using more at min 20 ml couple o...

Is robaxin an addictive drug? a narcotic or anything like that? ## Is robaxin addictive? Is it a narcotic ## It is not a narcotic, it is a muscle relaxant, however, if you are taking it for a long period of time or abusing it, your body will become dependent on it. If you stop taking it abruptly, you will suffer withdrawal effects. Are you taking it as prescribed?

I do not understand why xanax is given on a long term basis. Xanax has a rapid onset and does not last long hence the need to have more and more. You now need to see a psychiatrist to get any controlled med prescribed in most states. Psychiatrist can safely monitor and perhaps switch to a longer acting benzo until you can wean off. Benzodiazepine is a dangerous withdrawal if you are not in a hospital and run out of medication. ## Hello Nurse V, Please, you do not need to go to a Psychiatrist although that wouldn't be a bad idea for those who can afford one, many don't take Insurance and charge $500 a visit instead of the $100 at a General Practitioner. I live in an area without Psychiatrists & my MD has little problem writing for some controlled medicines. Your State laws ma...

What is the timeline for withdrawal from percocet? Many say that it takes a month. Is that true? ## Hello, Rileyrose 1! How are you? It can vary from person to person and will also depend on how long they were taking it, how much they were taking and how often they were taking it. It could actually vary anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, give or take. The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi thanks for the reply I was taking them on and off for nearly 3 years. 10 mg percs 4 to 5 x a day. Just have chills everyday and depression. Went cold turkey 10 days ago. Not going back to it again! Was so much more energized taking them. Wonder when natural energy will come b...

Are there any doctors in Pinellas County Florida who take the Florida State insurance (blue card) who can help me get off of opiates? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? The Suboxone website has a search engine that lets you search by zip code for doctors in your area that treat with it. You can find it at Suboxone.com click here, and their contact information will be included, so you can call to see what insurance they accept and if they are accepting new patients. The FDA classifies Suboxone as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

My husband is an alcoholic and trying hard to to stop drinking ,however this is very dangerous n we are wanting know how to slowly taper off and for how long without causing himself death or seizures ..any answers would be very appreciated our marriage depends on this for he is very angry on alcohol ## I am sorry about what you're dealing with. All addictions are tough. The best thing for him to do, for his own safety, would be to get medical help and possibly the support of something like AA. How much does he drink and how often? Does he spend any time sober? ## For withdrawal there is physical consequences such as seizures. He should stop cold turkey under guidance from your doctor who could prescribe drugs such as valium. My first semester in college was a disaster as I began at the age of 25 and only 3 months after leaving an all together different environment in the military where I served 4 tours in the Middle East. I never missed a class and yet my GPA at the end was a 1.75. I literally couldn’t absorb anything in class, fought off falling asleep more often than not, and couldn’t seem to apply my discipline to making myself sit and read. So, in the Fall of ’05 I began taking Focalin 10mg and the difference was night and day. Not only did I retain information from class, but I was able to sit down and read without losing focus, I actually enjoyed it, and my second semester GPA was a 3.63! Now it is the beginning of Fall 2008, I graduated in May, and have started an already successful...

I know vicodin is addictive, but what I want to know is: For the people who are in chronic severe long term pain, is getting off it any easier? Vicodin isnt that strong, it is only a little stronger than acetomeniphen and codiene but theres something about vicodin that makes it much more addictive, does anybody know? ## No! But I would like to know what it is. My husband has been taking Vicodin, off and on, for 2 years. He takes it for severe pain. ## Well me being a ex drug addict to perscription drugs my comment to this would be...When we get addicted we can take up to 30 pills and not care or we start mixing a lot even drink with the meds. This causes more damage and health problems to are body....This making in the end the pain worse..It's a lot like alcohol It's ok why your...
