The human skin is the outer covering of the body. In humans, it is the largest organ of the integumentary system. The skin has multiple layers of ectodermal tissue and guards the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments and internal organs.[1] Human skin is similar to that of most other mammals, except that it is not protected by a pelt. Though nearly all human skin is covered with hair follicles, it can appear hairless. There are two general types of skin, hairy and glabrous skin.[2] The adjecti...

hey i am a 20 year old lady am suffering from acne. i was given doxytet for my pimples am just wondering if my pimples will come back if i stop using them...and how long will it be safe for me to use this pills? ## Hello, Adeline! How are you? The acne may return, but many people do manage to clear it up permanently using an antibiotic like this for several months. Usually, they're prescribed for about 3 to 6 months. Hi, I have been taking purbac for about 3 years on and off now for my acne. As soon as my prescription ends I get horrible sore swollen pimples around my chin and mouth. I'm really battling with the purbac though as it makes me bloated. I've also started suffering with a lot of hamstring pain which I think may be related. What do I do now? Are there any over the counter meds or creamsI can use? ## What else has your doctor advised? Purbac contains Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, it is an antibiotic prescribed under the name Bactrim in many countries. Being on it for so long means that there's the possibility of a rebound effect, when you stop taking it. If that's the case, it may just be a matter of waiting for it to process out of your body and clear up on its own. H...

Ip 272. Is a generic for Bactrim DS. Treats all symptoms listed from other comments. The one thing everyone forgot to mention is that it also treats moderate to severe acne and cystic acne. Amazing how my skin cleared up since I have been using the drug. Remember to take In morning and night, preferably with food if you have a sensitive stomach, and plenty of water. I noticed after taking the drug for awhile that I did have joint pain, but other than that it works amazing.. ## @Fiat, It may help with acne as an off-label use, but the only problem I see that could stem from long term use is that, without having an actual infection to treat, this could create antibiotic resistance to the point where if you did have an infection it may end up becoming much more difficult to eradicate than ...

Dear sir, I am a 26 year old male from andhra pradesh (india), suffering from pimples & acne for the last 6 years. Please suggest me medicine to get rid of acne & pimples. ## Hello, Prasanna! How are you doing? Well, you need to learn what's causing it. Some types of acne are bacterial and require an antibiotic. But some types may be due to excess skin oils, certain foods you eat, other medications you may be taking and etc. Have you consulted a doctor to have it checked it out? Do you take any medications regularly? ## Dear sir/madam iam manoj sharma from west Bengal. I am 18 years old. My big problem is pimple & acne. Does prazosin cause acne? I've always had very clear skin and since I started taking prazosin I've been breaking out (zits) all over my face, even on my neck. And they're not just little pimples; they are the huge. They are big zits that never come to a head, they take weeks to go away, sometimes leave scars, and they hurt! ## Yes, this works on hormones in the body, so acne can be a result. I had a very similar problem, when I was taking a similar drug. It never stopped for me, until I switched medications, so I'd suggest looking into that for yourself. Because I tried every other metho I could find and nothing helped. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I have acne now after starting Prasozin. My skin is more oily too. ## The same thing is happening to me!

I happened to be reading newsletter & noticed this Drug name and realized that this is what my son has been taking for mos. now. Then I begin reading Forum's and was startled by how common side affects seem to be. My son has had what he call's heartburn , upset stomach, stomach pain, he doesn't know quite how to describe. What is even more startling He had his Appendix removed in Feb. I had some acne when I was young but this is scaring and distoring my face and neck? This is not listedas a side effect but I didn't have this before and it is the only medication I take. I sa on some blogs that others has similar issues is that true. ## The side effect information that you receive from the pharmacy or find on the monographs on our site are just abbreviated versions, only required to list the first so many prominent side effects, there are usually many more that you will only find if you specifically look for the 'full prescribing information' or 'physicians prescribing information. My doctor has increased my dose to 5 mg. at the min I have also broken out in terrible spots. Has anyone else experienced this and do they settle? Thank you ## It has been known to cause acne, as a side effect, according to the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. Most side effects are transient and tend to go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, but you could also speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Are you on any other medications?

Can I use this on my acne I have bad acne onmy checks and four head and ive tried everything . Does it work? Is it safe ? Please help im desperate for a cure ## Hello, Mike! How are you? I'm sorry about the acne problem you're having. No, Quadriderm actually would not be good to use for acne. One of its active ingredients is Betamethasone, which is a steroid class medication and they can actually cause acne as a side effect, as well as dry skin and skin irritation. Have you ever tried just a regular antibiotic? Your doctor should be able to prescribe one that may help, if you've exhausted all other remedies. Some acne is bacterial in nature and Doxycycline is often prescribed to help treat it. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic sk...

The nausea, can be a normal side effect, it should ease up in a few weeks, as your body gets used to the medication. You may also experience dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. If it doesn't ease up soon, then you may need to return to the doctor and try a different medication. ACNE STARTED COMING ON AND I AM 54 NOW WILL IT HELP TO CLEAR IT UP? ## Hello, Rissa! How are you? No, an antibiotic will not help with Shingles, since that is caused by a virus. What have you tried for the acne? If it's due to hormonal fluctuations, which are very common at your age, an antibiotic likely won't help it, either. What has your doctor advised you to use?

My doctor prescribed me Curam 625mg for a toe infection and i was wondering if it would help with the pimples i have on my face and back? ## It is possible, but it depends on what specifically is causing the acne. This is an antibiotic, so it will only help with infections of bacterial origin. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications? ## nope i am not. i'm not very sure about the cause of my acne/pimples either, i've had it for a couple of years now it upsets me.

What are the side effects of Purbac? ## Research I have gathered states that there have been some concerns about the use of Purbac, since it has been associated with both frequent mild allergic reactions and serious adverse effects including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, myelosuppression, mydriasis, agranulocytosis, as well as severe liver damage. My dermatologist prescribed me Sulfameth Tmp for acne. Is this typical? Also, since I've been taking this I've had trouble with sleep (waking up every hour, thinking I have to go to work, or stress related waking up) But I also had quit smoking & work two jobs so I'm not sure if it's that or the pills? Anyone know side effects and if this antibiotic is typical prescription for acne? ## As of the time I am reading this post in 2013, this medication is no longer commonly prescribed for acne for two reasons. The first is that it is one of the few that is still effective at treating MRSA, thus caution has to be taken so that it's not overprescribed, to try to avoid someone developing antibiotic resistance. And the second reason is due to the fact that it is a sulfa b...

I have moderate acne vulgaris. My dermatologist recommended me to use cindamicin phosphate at 7.00 am, metronidazole gel USP at 3:00pm and the mixture of tretin A and benzoyl peroxide at night. How long will it take to see an improvement? Are those combinations safe to use? It's been almost 2 months and I don't see any big difference. Pimples are somewhat gone, but there are many scars left on my face and it's very depressing. What kind of gel/cream should I use to get rid of those scars? ## These medications may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. However, they will not do anything to help the scars that you already have. Have you tried asking your dermatologist what you can use that may help minimize the...
