I’m already maxed out on maximum Ibuprofen at 1600 mg a day spread out 4xs a day and a (really low dose of Gabapentin 200 mg 3xs a day) for forearm pain. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, whilst Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from codeine. Since neither of these are in the same drug class, it would be like comparing apples to bananas. On taking either Tylenol or Advil I become wheezy, and have rapid breathing, which lasts approximately 1 hour with Tylenol but up 4 hours with Advil. I have previously been diagnosed with Aspirin and Ibuprofen sensitivity and told not to use. However, I am now experiencing similar reactions when I take Tylenol. I need an alternative to use occasionally, for fever reduction, headache aches and pains currently associated with flu.. ## Have you tried Naproxen? It's the active ingredient in Aleve and the generic or store brands of it. Learn more Naproxen details here. I'd suggest asking if it's safe for you to try it. I have been taking 3 ibuprofen for jaw pain after having roots extracted for future implants. The dr had prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325, but I don't like the way it makes me feel. I was trying to cut back on pain meds after 4 days, so I took 2 of the ibuprofen instead of 3. It isn't helping, so can I add 1/2 of a hydrocodone pill or would it be better to take a 3rd ibuprofen pill? ## Scottie, If the hydrocodone was causing undesirable side effects taking an additional Ibuprophen would certainly not hurt. Can i take 600 mg of ibuprofen along with a 375/10 norco and a 500 tylenol? I am using this to treat migraines that wont go away. ## Combining all of these can be risky, according to the NIH, especially in relation to possible liver damage, liver failure, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach ulceration. Have you consulted your doctor? There are other medications you can try to treat or prevent migraines. Have you explored the possibility of dietary triggers?

My husband got his finger cut off yesterday and the doctor gave him 7.5 hydrocoden. And its been hour and half and he is in pain. I was wondering if advil woukd be ok to give him to help him out. I've had severe chronic pain for years. Pain dr. Gave me 7.5/325 hydrocodone. I have hep c and chronic anemia.
