taking 2 mg of Ability with 100mg Pristiq for severe depression, with weight gain and fatigue now. On this med for 1-1/2 years, not happy with side-effects. Took prozac, cymbalta, and others a they ran their course. Depression better, but not happy with weight gain and tiredness. any other options available now?? Thank You- ## Pretty much all the medications used to treat such conditions can cause weight gain as side effects. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? I've been on 1mg of ability with 50mg of pristiq mainly for PTSD purposes and my and some of my symptoms have worsened anger,hyper arousal,nightmares etc. I have tried other medications such as Zoloft,Prozac,Welbutrin all with no success or symptoms that became worse. Abilify has helped my depression but it has given me bad headaches on my left side. Not sure if I should keep taking it. I think I’ll cut it down and try that first. It does have a lot of side effects and affects my feelings of irritability. I have chronic migraines that are very severe on my right side along with my TMJ where I’ve had joint replacement. I suffer from severe anxiety depression medical related PTSD and have tried just about every ssri and Effexor benzos don't calm my racing thoughts. Based on all the warnings associated with Abilify, some of which can result in permanent impairment or death, why would anyone take the drug, and why on earth give it to a child. There is now a name for every twitch we go through and people are so quick to take a pill to fix every thing that is called life and living. It is not always easy or fun. I am depressed almost every day and I would never consider taking this drug. My son safely tapered off Abilify. His last dose was Saturday July 4th. Curious how long the drug remains in his system. And, once it's completely gone from his blood stream, will there be any withdrawal symptoms I need to watch for? He is non verbal, profoundly disabled, otherwise I would ask him if he is feeling any withdrawals. I have just started taking Abilify for severe anxiety and some depression. I was on effexor and wellbutrin for depression for many years. It stopped working so the doctor gave me 5mg abilify to take with the wellbutrin instead of the Effexor. The abilify worked very well for depression, but caused anxiety ( which I never had before) I stayed on it for 6 to 8 weeks anyway - dealing with the anxiety because the depression was gone. I have been on Fludrocortisone, Midrodrine, and Pristiq for depression, the first two 3 months for POTS , but, now depression has gotten bad. My pdoc prescribed 5 mg of ability twice a day, but when I mentioned an antidepressant he said that would not be a good idea....now he feels I have bipolar disorder but aren't individuals with bipolar normally on an antidepressant along with mood stabilizers or antipsychotics? I was given Prozac for depression by my PTP but this sent me to the ER on the 4th day. I woke up vomiting, with dizziness, my legs were so weak, I had a cold and hot rush, and the worst head ache. After fluids, morphine, labs and a CT scan I was sent home and was told I had a stomach flu (smh). My psychiatrist said it was a violent reaction to Prozac. I gained 68 lbs while on Abilify. Now four years later my weight is still 30 lbs over my normal.
