My foster child is on Ability 5 mg, Bupropion 75 mg, Chlorpromazine 25mg 3 times per day for bipolar and ADHD. Does he need these meds that seem to do the same thing? I have the sense since he has been with me that he does not have anger problems any more than any other 11 year old child. He did tell me that he used anger to get away from the home he was in because he was being beaten by an older child. I will admit he may be adhd but bipolar you can't make me believe. ## I'd suggest discussing it with his doctor and/or getting a second opinion. It is an unfortunate fact that many children end up over medicated and many doctors don't review what the child is taking and just leave them on them, rather than do a review and see if it is needed any longer. Have you talked to any...

I have bipolar disorder, and I was wondering whether Abilify and Aricept could be used together for problems with cognition: Memory, executive mental functions, etc. ## Only your doctor can decide what is appropriate for you to use. No one here can possibly guess as this site is not medical professionals and have no knowledge of your medical history. ## I have Parkinsons and am taking sinemet. I also have major anxiety/depression as a side of the Parkinsons. Prozac & klonipan helped for a long time but then stopped effective. Abilify brought great relief from the anx/dep but aggrivated the Parkinson's symptoms to the exteent that I might have to stop taking it. I am horrified as Abilify made such a difference in my life. Isthere soething else similar that Imight take? ## Not if ...

Can anyone recommend a new psych medication? I am bipolar and have tried lithium for 3 years, tegretol, abilify, respedal 4 mg& seroquel which worked the best. But due to vision problems I needed to stop after 3 years. Now I am on Zyprexa 20mg 2x a day for anxiety. Not feeling it. I need to find a drug that will work with my topomax.(Topomax 100mg for migraines. )does anyone have any suggestions? ## Hello, Modelo! How are you? I'ms sorry about the problem that you're having. What type of doctor have you been seeing? Sometimes, people do better with a combination of medications, when others aren't working by themselves and a psychiatrist would be the best person to help you find the right combination for you. From your list, it seems you've not tried Depakote, yet. It ...

Thus far its worked great hes no longer withdrawn, he can focus more and attentive and most of all he's happy it seems as though we may not need the add medicine. My pdoc prescribed 5 mg of ability twice a day, but when I mentioned an antidepressant he said that would not be a good idea....now he feels I have bipolar disorder but aren't individuals with bipolar normally on an antidepressant along with mood stabilizers or antipsychotics? I'm just confused......any input would be greatly appreciated Thanks ## In my honest opinion, a good doctor won't prescribe anyone more medications than they have to. Reason being (from my perspective) is that prescription drugs in general are only made to cover up (treat) the symptoms and emotions associated with the condition. But they do not help the patient fix the underlying cause of the condition. I'm stating this based on personal experience with severe depression for over 2 years, and cover...

]I have been taking abilify 5mg once a day for about 3 years for bipolar ll disorder. About 4 months ago I was prescribed adderall for ADD. I have been take about 40mg a day. Last week I went to my doctor. We decided to try and stop the abilify because I felt I no longer needed it and that the adderall would be enough to keep me functional. So I began cutting the 5mg abilify in half then I stopped takeing it completely about 2 days later I stared having shortness of breath, tightness in my chest, muscle weakness and pain(primarily in my arms, I began talking in a different voice, I was naseus, I had a horible headache, and tingeling in my fingers. when I contacted my doctor he told me to immediatly begin the abilify again. I did and 2 hours later all of my symptoms dissapeared apparentl...

I was told by a marine recruiter that it does. ## I would think yes since it is a medication made to treat people that have bipolar disorder. Didn't the recruiter tell you that you can't be on any medications or anything like that? I know this because I was going to join and I'm on antidepressants and a friends of mine had to go off his Ritalin in order to join too. I personally thinks it's stupid to make someone have to go off medications they were prescribed by a doctor just because they want you to be perfect and crazy enough to shoot to kill if they send you into war. ## As a former recruiter, you will be automatically disqualified if you tell them that you are bipolar. Also, you have to be off all meds (except birth control) for 2 years. ## Not true. I haven't b...

So I have been on Viibryd since the summer of 2012. The first few weeks were awful as my body adjusted- little sleep, nauseous constantly, diarrhea- but I knew that could be the case. I worked my way through the pack to 40mg and have been there ever since. I have been on so many meds I've lost track of them all. I have bipolar type 2, which means I am depressed almost all the time with occasional manic episodes. Before adding Viibryd, I had been on Abilify only. Now I take both as well as Klonopin when needed. I felt I had found my life saver with Viibryd!! I was myself for the first time in years: no depression, no crying spells, just me. This wonderful drug had saved me. Or so I thought.... after about a year, I hit a rough patch. It was the anniversary of my father's suicide ...

I have been treated for bipolar 2 for 3 yrs and have been on several different meds (lamictal, lithium, abilify, seraquel and a few others). Recently went into my pdoc (I'm on 300mg lamictal, 150mg seraquel and mentally doing the best ever). But, I've gained almost 30 lbs since being on seraquel which has now become a deal breaker. My pdoc put me on topomax for weight loss 3 days ago. Any experience with topomax causing weightloss even while remaining on seraquel? (Side note: avid exerciser, high intensity, and follow a south beach diet, strict). Thanks for any responses, much thanks! ## I have to be honest and say that I am against treating the side effects from one medication with another medication, because in my opinion and experience, it just creates a vicious circle.
