Can the antibotic cefadroxil be used to treat a tooth abcess. ## Cefadroxil can in fact be used for dental infections; although amoxicillin and metronidazole are generally used as first line of treatment. Learn More: Cefadroxil Details If you're experiencing a lot of pain, I would also try dabbing the area with Vanilla Extract and/or clove essential oil. Both options tend to have a numbing effecting to where you can't feel the pain while it kills the infection. I hope this helps!

Can Clindamycin also be used for an abscessed tooth? I was given this for a staph infection and then my antibiotic had to be changed so i have some left. Now i find myself with a horrendous toothache and an abscess and no money, insurance, etc. Just wanted an opinion, not anything that could get anyone in trouble.... thanks for your time... ## I have been using clindamycin for my abcess tooth also. Just started today, I have the same question. ## I used to work in a dentists' office. The dentist always used clindamycin for abcessed teeth. Make sure to see a dentist though, because if you just use the antibiotic and don't get treatment you will eventually loose that tooth. ## I ,in desperation, began taking clindamycin that my wife had for a bad tooth abcess of mine beginning on ...

I have an abscess in my jaw that I've taken antibiotics for twice already and it just keeps coming back. I haven't had the money to go get it pulled and this time it feels a little different like it's spreading maybe? My neck underneath where it is is very sensitive going down my neck almost like burning sensation?... What should I take? What kind of antibiotics? ## Hello, Kikii! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. However, it is going to keep returning, regardless of what antibiotic you take and, if this continues, it could put your life in danger or cause an infection in your heart valves. You really need to see a dentist and have the tooth removed, as soon as possible. Antibiotics are only a temporary fix and they do nothing to recti...

Can I take Mylan 3422 for my absessed tooth? ## What has your dentist advised? This contains 100mgs of Nitrofurantoin, which is an antibiotic, but is not usually the first choice for a dental infection. And, if it does help, it would only be temporary, because whatever is causing the tooth to become infection needs to be addressed and corrected, or it will just return.

Swollen sore abcess tooth with a lump under jawbone in area of abcessband it's Christmas Eve no dentist open I have cipro about five will they help ## Hello, DJ! How are you? I'm sorry about the dental problem you're having. According to the FDA, Cipro is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Though it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, the main issue is that you won't have enough to take a full course of the antibiotics to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. Additionally, it will not help with whatever the underlying problem is that allowed the abscess to develop, thus, you will still need to see you...

Hello, I've had an abcess in my armpit for a week now. Five days ago, I went to Urgent Care and the doctor there prescribed SMZ-TMP DS to treat it. I've been doing warm compresses often to bring the abcess to a head to drain. Nothing is working. The infection is growing. Does this medicine even treat this form of abcess? ## It can be used to treat it, but there is a chance it may not work for you, it may not be effective at eradicating the bacteria that has caused your abscess. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Hi, my dog has been suffering severely from an abscessed tooth and we found tramadol to do wonders for him.. Well he's outta them and I was wondering if I could give him oxycodone, until I can get him to see the vet? He's 8 yrs old and about 15 lbs. I'm outta work and can't afford to have him seen right now... Thank you so much.... P.S. my poor lil guy.. ## There is a great risk of your accidentally overdosing your dog by giving him too much of the Oxycodone. Ref: Opiate Overdose Information Overdose symptoms in dogs can resemble those that are experienced by humans, and may include nausea, disorientation, sedation, and trouble breathing. Have you called a vet? They may be able to provide you with advice that will help, until you can take him in. Alternatively, you may w...

hi had tosilular abcess for 3 weeks, admitted to hospital and had calvepen 666 through i.v. Abcess was lanced and i was released home with calvepen tablets, not long after taking second dose(3 daily) i started to feel weak/nausious/headache and symtoms of palpatations. Also with the calvepen i was given flagyl 400. ## HI, Lazy Hazy! How are you feeling now? Calvepen contains a form of Penicillin, which is an antibiotic and it can cause side effects, such as feeling nauseous, weak and the headache, those are completely normal. With the palpitations, it's a bit hard to say, but there's a greater chance that they have been caused by the infection and your body trying to fight it. However, that is something you should report to your doctor and have checked out, especially if they invo...

I was prescribed ciprofloxan 500 mg.×2 a day iv taken 3 tablets and my abcess has doublrd in size since yesterday. It is going into my nose & eye area& now the right side of my neck. Im concerened as i have had a heart attack 2 yrs. ago. And am concerned of affects on my heart. ## Once you are a full 24 hours in to taking an antibiotic, you should not see any worsening. Since you have experienced more swelling, it may mean that this one isn't work for you and you should return to your dentist/doctor as you may need to try something else. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. And yes, there is a concern about the havoc such an infection could potentially cause to your heart, so plea...

I began taking this medication on Sunday by Monday my jaw line and neck were swollen soo bad.. Went back to ER because I became worried he said that the medicine was fine.. It is now day 4 and I am still so swollen on my jaw tooth still tender and my throat is so sore from the swelling and itching.. Am scared at this point but not sure what else to do.. ## Has there been any change, yet? The general rule for antibiotics, according to NIH studies, is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking them for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. If there is no change, by that point, it might not be the right antibiotic to help you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness,...

I have an abcess in my gums my next door neighbor gave me metronidazole pliva 334 said it will stop the infection and help rid the abcess is this true ## Hello, Aaron! How are you? You need to see your dentist. While the FDA does classify Metronidazole as an antibiotic, so it may help, it will not fix whatever underlying problem has caused the abscess, such as a deep dental cary. Until you have that taken care of, the infection will keep returning and worsening. You also may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. Typical side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Based on the description you provided, I've identified your pill as Tramadol Hydrochloride (50 mg). Tramadol is a centrally acting synthetic analgesic used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. I have a abcess tooth which one is best cipro septra or keflex? ## Hi Brenda, From what I could gather, Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections. So it's probably not the best choice as a first line treatment option.. Septra and Keflex on the other hand, are more commonly prescribed by dentists for tooth and other mouth related infections, due to their broader spectrum. You may want to talk with your doctor about either one of those last two options to see what works best. Sometimes the right decision has to come from trial and error, depending on how your body reacts to each medication. Have you taken either of these medications in the past?

I currently have a tooth abcess that my endodontist is trying to treat. The problem he is having is that I am allergic to the antibiotics that are best at treating this. I am allergic to penicillin, erythromycin, cephalosporins. We tried cipro but that did not do much after 2 weeks. Is there another antibiotic I can try? ## Are you able to take the sulfa based ones, such as Bactrim? It can cause some nasty side effects and there is the risk of being allergic for about 3% of people, which is why I don't usually recommend it to anyone, but it may be your best option. Learn more Bactrim details here. It's worth asking him about it to see if it may work, anyway.

I have a abcess tooth wanted to know if keflex 500 mg will take the infection out. ## Hi Jackie, From what I could gather, Keflex (cephalexin) can in fact be used to treat a tooth infection. Apparently the usual adult dose for bacterial infections is listed as being anywhere from 250 to 500mgs every 6 hours; to be taken for up to 1-3 weeks, depending on the severity of the infection. However, these exact figures are generally something your doctor/dentist would determine upon a closer examination. I hope this helps answer your question! ## Does cephalexin help with sinus infection ## I have had a bad tooth infection with pain for some time now..and have been treating it with OTC pain meds.. In the past I used Amoxicillin..it helped..but I heard that Cephalexin can be used for this also....

I'm an alcoholic and i have a tooth abcess..woul i be able to take clyndomicin as i cannot just stop drinking as it would be too dangerous ## Hello, Elaine! How are you? You can take it, as long as your doctor approves, but you may experience worsening of the side effects, if you are also drinking while taking it. Thus, as listed by the U.S. FDA, you may experience more nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and diarrhea than normal. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a dental abcess and would like to know if Doxycycline 100mg would help with this, I have no money to afford a doctor or dentist at the moment. ## It may help, if you have enough to take the correct amount for the proper duration of time to eradicate the infection. However, it will not correct the underlying problem that has caused the abscess, so you will still need to see a dentist as soon as possible and it would be best to consult one, before taking it. I've dealt with similar problems, due to finances and not being insured in the past, so I'd suggest checking to see if they are any dental clinics or schools in your area, most have sliding fee scales, or will even treat you for free to help a dental student get the training they need. The FDA lists the typical side eff...
