Six days ago I had hip replacement surgery. I was given three bags of antibiotics by IV. How long does it remain in my body before being excreted? ## Hello, Joan! How are you? I hope you're doing well after your surgery and recovering. It depends on which antibiotic you received. Do you happen to know? Please note that large bags of liquid would not be an antibiotic, that would be a separate small bag. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

My doctor diagnosed me with diverticulitis after a ct scan. Why do I take amox-clav 875 and metronidazole simultaneously? Thank you! ## Sometimes multiple antibiotics are given, if the doctor isn't sure of the precise bacteria that is the culprit, by taking more than one, it covers more possibilities. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, stomach pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My side effects also included a super metallic taste and a somewhat distorted sense of smell. Both have resolved after finishing course of antibiotic treatment.

allergy to sulfur and need a list of sulfur based antibiotics. Doctors keep giving them to me. ## small beige pill with the nuber 75 on one side - it has a funny shape to it. ## There is really no comprehensive list, especially since some many contain an inactive ingredient that is sulfur based. Your best bet is to just make your pharmacist aware of your allergy, so they can screen the prescriptions for you, when you get them filled. ## Tammy, that tablet contains 75mgs of Ranitidine, a generic for Zantac. This is used primarily to treat heartburn. ## Try Pure sulfur to verify if you actually have an allergy to Sulfur..... Not the Pharma version. Allergies generally are from the processing of material to be able to SELL... Do your research... Chances are you do not have an allergy to Su...

I have bronchiactisis a lung condition. I have been using purbac for almost 6 months and really feel good after years of other antibiotics. Are there side effects on the long term for using perbac. This is the only antibiotic I use. ## The dose and length of time you have to take Purbac will depend on the type of infection you have. The problem with using any antibiotic a lot or for long-term is that resistant strains of bacteria eventually develop and then the antibiotic is no longer as effective. As far as any side effects go, Purbac (Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim) unfortunately has a generous list of them: Allergic - Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, anaphylaxis, allergic myocarditis, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, angiodema, drug fever, chills, He...

PLEASE help soon as I am going to the dentist today!!! if they give me pain pills SHOULD I stop the suboxone and go on pain meds? the pain is UNBEARABLE and I am at the end of my suboxone treatment...1 mg a day. ## What you can and can't safely use is something you will need to discuss with the clinic that is providing your Suboxone treatment. I realize that I am already answering this after your appointment, but that is the hazards of trying to get such information online, you cannot possibly be certain of getting the info in the time you need it. Plus, the Suboxone will help with pain, since it is a narcotic just without the side effects of traditional ones. In addition if you are un...

I was taking cephalexin500 wasn't the right antibiotic for me so Dr. Gave me sulfatrimeth ds. 800 is it okay to switch from one antibiotic that isn't working to another antibiotic in the same day ## As long as you have your doctor's clearance to do so, there are no other real problems with it. It often has to be done when someone has proven to be allergic to or have a bad reaction to one antibiotic, but still requires one to treat an infection. Learn more Bactrim details here. what antibiotics are mainly used for wisdom teeth infections ## I'm not too fond of prescription drugs, but I think Cephalexin is one of common interest. It is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. To view information about this drug please click on the link below... Although I personally suggest looking into Clove Essential Oil. It's a natural remedy for dental issues as far as alleviating tooth aches (anaesthetic properties) and fighting infections (antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal properties). Just make sure you don't use a lot of it at once (no more than a 2-4 drops in the desired area, as it is very concentrated and may be toxic in large doses. This generally is not something to worry about as you won't need more than the minimum amount to...

Hello, my son was prescribed Antipyrine-benzocaine war drops in 2/2015. I had it put away sealed tight I poured some in my hand to check for any discoloration and looks clear as the first day we use. He is complaining of ear pain and I was just wondering if I can still use these drops since the expiration date is for 10/2016 which is this month? ## Hello, Tita! How are you? This is not actually an antibiotic, both of the medications it contains are used to alleviate pain and inflammation. If he has an ear infection, he will need an antibiotic, in addition to these drops. The FDA warns that the side effects of such drops may include dizziness, headache, ear stuffiness, and drainage. Is there anything else I can help with?

## We have some drops used for an ear infection for our oldest daughter: Neo/Poly/HC/1% OTIC sups 10 ML green. The last time we used them was December of 2010 and they have been kept in a cool dark place, within a capped, plastic airtight medicine container since. Now we wonder if we can use them for an ear infection or our youngest daughter? Do you think they are safe to use as directed? She is 17 years old. ## In most cases, it is best not to use antibiotics after the expiration date. The reduced efficacy can increase your risk of developing antibiotic resistance. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Thus, it would be best to see a doctor for a new supply, if one is needed. Liquid medications al...

I have been put on 200mg of Cefpodoxime for life. I had an infected TKR (knee replacement) and infection was not stopped. I have had now my third TKR and the doctor has put me on this antibiotic. It has kept the infection away for about a year and a half now but wondering what side effects or concerns I should have. I try to periodically look up anyone that takes antibiotics daily and I can never find anyone. Can I stop at some point? is this bad? The antibiotic does keep the infection away and I don't want another infection again but this still seems extreme. Any thoughts? ## Hello, Anderson! How are you? There are many people who take an antibiotic daily prophylactically. Generally, the only long-term concern is that bacteria may build up resistance to that particular antibiotic, ...

I currently have an IUD, Mirena, I was just prescribed, Dicloxacillin. I am wondering what are the side effects for these two mixed medications. Does the Dicloxacillin interfere with the IUD? ## In most cases, the reason that antibiotics alter the efficacy of contraceptives is due to their effect on how fast your body absorbs and processes the oral forms. Basically, they can make them run through your digestive system much faster, so less is absorbed and active in the body, which increases your risk of becoming pregnant. Thus, most aren't known to do that with an IUD, since you aren't swallowing and digesting the hormone, instead its being absorbed right into your uterus. However, for added peace of mind, I'd still suggest using a backup method of contraception, just to be o...
