The side that doesn't have 40 on it has a line down the middle but i can't read what it has going around the pill ## The closest match I could find shows that the pill is identified as Furosemide (40 mg). However the markings you are unable to read can significantly change what this pill could be. On this specific pill I located, the number 40 is on one side; and on the other side there is a score line across the middle, with the words 'Mylan' on the top half of the line and the numbers '216' on the bottom half. I cannot locate a match for '231', but '271' fits your vague description of the pill. It is a white round tablet with "IP" sitting above "271" on the same side of the pill, separated by a score line. I have a 40 mg pill of Viibryd and there is no score on it can it be cut in half for 20 mgs? ## Hi Judy, My general rule of thumb is that a pill can be cut in half (even with no score line) as long as it's not an extended-release tablet; more over because I'm not sure as to how cutting it will have an effect on it's extended release properties. If I were in your shoes, I'd still feel comfortable cutting it in half taking into consideration the details mentioned above. I hope this helps! Does anyone else agree?

It had a line on one side and an s on the other side very small and orange ## Hi lulu, I haven't found a definitive match, but from what little bit I could gather there are reports suggesting that this particular pill may contain 40mgs of Famotidine (Durater), made by a company called Senosiain Labs in Mexico. If this is the case, it would help explain why references are so hard to come by on US search engines. Apparently they list it as being "peach" colored and not orange. It's also reported to be about a quarter of an inch in diameter; but maybe you could try contacting the manufacturer directly to see if they can verify this for you. More details (although in spanish) on this medication from Senosiain Labs can also be viewed here: senosiain.com.mx/assets/files/pdf/ex...
