My docs office sent in my prescription for 10 oxycodone. Walmart says they are waiting for prior authorization. From my insurance? What if that is not given? Would the pharmacy allow me to pay out of pocket? Or is that considered addict behaviour? This is not a med I'm trying to fill early. ## Yes, you should be given that option, as long as you aren't trying to get it early, which you have already stated you are not doing. My husband was recently out of a medication, and they said our insurance said it wasn't time for a fill, yet, but we were welcome to purchase as much as he needed, out of pocket, to make sure he didn't run out, until they authorized it. Unfortunately, sometimes, insurance companies can be very strict about prior authorization, and not take into accoun...

I am trying to find more of a understanding about the use of Bicitra with regard to Gastro Esophigal Reflux Disease. I was recently given about 1-2 oz. of Bicitra in a clear liquid form chilled with ice prior to being sedated for a EDG and Colonoscopy. This was administered in a controlled environment at a local hopital's In/Out Surgery Department. How is it administered as a treatment therapy, if one should be prescribed this drug by one's physician? ## It is available, by prescription only, in several forms, not just the liquid you had at the hospital, you can get it in tablets and liquid for home use via prescription. It is actually systemic Citrate drug that is primiarly used to help balance the alkalinity of your urine to help prevent kidney stones, kidney stones that occur...

I've been on Contrave for 6 months with some slight success. I've lost about 6 lbs, but I also have not gained any weight, which is at least a step in the right direction. I don't follow all the rules and don't exercise enough. I was initially scheduled to have ENT surgery for a severe sinus infection in 2 days (Wednesday). Surgery has now been moved to 8 days (following Tuesday). My GP told me today that I should off Contrave for 2 weeks prior to surgery because of the naltrexone, because it might interfere with anesthesia. I've looked online and cannot find any mention this. She also told be that because the naltrexone dose (8mg) is so I need to check with the anesthesiologist to be sure. I called the surgeon's office and his nurse called the anesthesiologist w...

In three years time, I’ve only seen the dr that the nurse works for twice. They charge me 250.00 a visit and they write my meds. I, being the wife of a dr and knowing the laws, got prior authorization. All they had to do is sign but they are refusing because I pay cash.

I am scheduled to have surgery in August. Do I need to stop taking Belviq prior to surgery? Does Belvíq affect wound healing? If I decide to stop temporarily is there a correct way to go about it? Do I need to taper off? ## According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, "if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking lorcaserin (Belviq)." - Source: medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a613014.html So for good measure I think your best bet would probably be to contact your doctor/surgeon for pre, intra and post op instructions, cautions and guidelines as to what's safe and what isn't. Depending on the type of surgery you're having, there may be a list of contraindications you should be aware of. If Belviq was tho...

Hello, I have just one question so here goes! I have been on a pain management program with suboxone for almost three years now due to chronic pain. I do not have a prior drug addiction problem. I say this due to many people think you have to have a prior opioid problem. That's just my question tho. My recent ex broke up with me because he said the only way you can be prescribed suboxone for pain management is if you had a prior drug abuse problem. I told him that was not true by no means but he argues an says he's right. Can anyone please back me up and explain to him in the comments that he is wrong to a certain extent. I would really appreciate it. Thank you and god bless! ## Hello, Lyn! How are you? You are correct and your ex is not. Suboxone contains the opiate Buprenorphi...

Since a total knee replacement in January 2008, my surgeon has prescribed Amoxicillin prior to my 6 month dental exams and cleaning. Within 8 hours from taking the Amoxicillin, I become ill every time. The illness is never exactly the same. A year ago, I was stick for a week with flu-like symptoms. My last appointment on June 1, 2011 has caused a lot of discomfort. Within 8 hours of the dental appointment, I began having a severe headache, bloodshot eyes that ached when I moved them. All that night I could not sleep more than a few minutes at a time. My temperature was slightly elevated but I felt as though it would register at least 104. All that day I slept whenever I could and ate nothing--just drank water. I was not hungry and I was not vomiting. The 3rd day I tried to live my norma...

I have Osteoarthritis, possibly Fibromyalgia, and two knees that are bone-on-bone and need replacement. Even though I take Tramadol 300 ER daily and Arthrotec, 2 Tylenol, and 2 Aleve three times a day, I am still in pain. Forgetting to take meds or being out of meds for a day causes unbelievable aches everywhere except my fingers, elbows and toes. I cannot work and cannot sleep. I also get very emotional and angry and my BP goes up. I will soon be having my first knee replaced. The doctor said I will need to be off all the pain meds except for Tylenol. I do not believe I can do this. A couple times the doctor has given me steroids when I was having a flare up and it completely eliminated the swelling and pain. What medications could I safely take in the 2 weeks prior to knee replacement...

Is there a time frame that Dentist or dentures office have to send in a prior approval to Medicaid claim. I went to have new dentures sense mine broke, I went to denture place and they waited 15 days before they sent Medicaid information for a prior approval ( PA). I am a diabetic and cant eat right and I told them I was a diabetic when I went in to be seen. thaks for any help you may give me. ## Hello, Mark! How are you? I am not familiar with Medicaid regulations, but going by the current government regulations regarding dentures, I doubt that they did anything wrong. The way things are right now, regardless of your medical condition, dentures are not considered essential to your health. Our government considers them to just be cosmetic, because you can still eat without them, it may ...

I was a pioneer to suboxone when no one knew really what is was. I had several surgeries and a TBI and suffer from epilepsy. Every year I must get a new prior authorization in Jan. I am on a 28 day supply. Well i told my doctor prior authorization is coming up I even called twice and spoke to him. ## @Williiam, I'm not sure exactly what your insurance company's policies are regarding this "prior authorization", but it sounds to me like you may be better off under a different plan/company if they're not wanting to work with you in getting your prescription. It's cruel that we have to rely on such people to get our meds who have no interest what-so-ever toward our well-being. In the end it's all about the money to them. Being that it's May now, were you jus...
