I was in the hospital and they gave me an injection for pain. It started with the letter g. Any ideas? ## Could it be gabapentin? Gabapentin is frequently prescribed for nerve pain, although I'm not exactly certain whether it's currently available in an intravenous dosage form. I did happen to find a clinical study on FDA.gov discussing gabapentin being taken via IV administration at the bottom of page 2 in the following link: accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2009/020235s041.pdf Hopefully this will at least help narrow potential suspects as to what medication you're searching for. I'll be sure to post back if I can think of any other prospects that start with a 'g'. Gabapentin just happens to be one of the more common brand names on the market. ## Thanks,...

What does this pill make you feel like I'm curious to the side effects ## Hello, Rhonda! How are you? This capsule contains 300mgs of Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and as a mood stabilizer. Thus, if you're expecting any of the effects of a narcotic analgesic, they will not occur, since it is not related to them and doesn't work like they do. The normal side effects for this medication may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you...I don't usually take other people's medicine, b/c for the past 25 years I stop taken them...started realizing on body reflexology...but for some reason the pain I was having won't go away....I only took fo...

I am getting slight blood in my nose due to rupture maybe but I noticed this only after I started the course of trinerve lc. Does it have any side effects? ## The only actual medication contained in Trinerve is Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that's also been proven to help with certain types of nerve pain. Learn more Pregabalin details here. The rest of the active ingredients are just nutritional supplements, a vitamin V complex. However, some B vitamins may cause some blood thinning, which could be causing your nasal problem. a really good drug for nerve pain is neourotin or gapabentin (same thing) i may be spelling wrong. but it does wonders. your welcome. ## I am starting to wonder what is wrong with me even more because Gabapintin 600mgs does nothing at all for my pain from a frostbitten foot compounded by electrical shock while standing in some water while plugging up a buffer from a 220 volt socket Plus for some reason doctors here in Indianapolis don't have a clue as how to treat my problem. I wonder why none of them offered me any of the first medication you talked about ## It did nothing for my nerve pain too. It also made me crazy with brain zaps. ## As with any medication, Neurontin (Gabapentin) does not work for everyone that tries it. We are all different, so what works well for one person mi...

I am going through therapy for my back and need spine surgery. I have been taking percocet for the past year now and my Dr wants to change my medication. He suggested something that starts with the letter N but didnt spell it right for me. Does anyone know of pain medication that starts with that letter. Not Naproxen, it's not an anti inflammitory ## It's supposed to be for nerves. ## Probaly Neurontin which is used to ease nerve pain. ## Or maybe Norco ## Those would be my best guesses, as well, since they are both used to treat pain, just in different ways. Neurontin is an anticonvulsant that's also been shown to help with nerve pain, it contains the active ingredient Gabapentin. And Norco contains the active ingredients Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, so it's a narcoti...

i have been on Accutane for three months now, first two on 20mg and started the 3rd month on 40mg. After upping the dose, I got severe nerve pain in my mouth, initially I thought it was my teeth so I went to the dentist and discovered it wasn't my teeth nor gums (which was a bonus) however the pain lasted on and off for over a week which I can only describe as an intermittent electric shock feeling which painkillers have not helped with. I have tried contacting my Dermatologist but have had no response. Has anyone else had this as a side effect? ## Hello, Catherine! How are you? Yes, that can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, skin rash, abdominal pain, diarrhea and depression. I started taking Amoxicillin earlier this week for a throat infection. About 2 or 3 days after I started taking it, I started to develop jaw pain that comes and goes. Somebody told me it was just nerve pain. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this while taking Amoxicillin? ## Hey Amanda, sorry to hear about the jaw pain you're having. I don't know if it could be related to nerve damage or not, but I just wanted to inform you that I have come across studies from ehealthme indicating that jaw pain was associated with the use of Amoxicillin in 411 out of 22,270 patients. So although relatively less common, it does appear to be a possibility. Amoxicillin also lists joint pain/inflammation, swollen lymph glands (nodes underneath the jaw), and difficulty with swallowing on...

Taking 150 mg Lyrica at night for arm radioculpathy due to c5, 6, 7 herniated discs in neck. Hard to type, sorry. Hands are week. Started med on Dec. 19 so on a little over a month. I was started on Warfarin in May 2016. Dx: Pericarditis w Afib. Mid July 2016, I had a ruptured foot tendon accompanied by severe nerve pain in feet & tingling in my lips. I spoke with the doctor on call & was told it could not be the Warfarin. In June 2017, the joint & nerve pain & toe pain became so severe that I stopped the Warfarin & started Nattokinase. Yes I have been on Metoprolol & realize that can have the same side effects, but my question is specific to Warfarin. Thank you for having this great chat line. ## Yes, those can be side effects of Warfarin, according to FDA reports. It may also cause nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. As to Nattokinase, that is just a supplement, so it has not been tested and proven to help wit...

Has anyone had amitriptyline for nerve pain? I want to come off them, but I’m concerned the nerve pain will return. Has anyone had any experience with this? ## There is a chance that the pain may return, if you stop abruptly, sudden withdrawal could result in a rebound effect, where they pain might be even worse than it was to begin with. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, dry mouth, and weight changes. Why do you want to stop taking them? ## At the beginning I felt so pleased when the tablets kicked in. I started at 25 mg and eventually increased to 75 mg. All was going well. I get the usual side effects, but no real problems. I’ve been on them for about 6 years. The reason I want to come off, is because a...

Should lyrica start working straight away I have been on it for 3 days and still in a huge amount of pain. The pain is in my shoulder and down my left arm. ## Hello, Nett! How are you? No, Lyrica is not actually an analgesic, so it doesn't work that fast. It is classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant, which can also help with certain types of nerve pain. Thus, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in the body and for you to know if it's going to work for you. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Was already on Gabapentin, low dose for Restless Legs when began having Nerve Problems in feet, and increasing unsteady gait.
