I found some 20 year old Levorphanol I use to take for chronic pain. Would it still work? Or has it lost all potency? Thanks. ## After 20 years, it is likely that it no longer has much efficacy, if any. The U.S. FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It would be best to dispose of them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## In my experience as a one time user of this drug storage under ideal circumstances was limited.Unlike most Opiate/Opioid meds that retain its potency for a substantial period of time Levodromoran does not.I would suggest that you dispose of it properly. ## Turned toxic or flat! Don't ever take a drug thats 20 years old! ## Back in the...

Does anyone make levorphanol now? Our pharmacy said it is not available. It is a major ingredient in my pain cocktail. ## Hello, Bernadette! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. I'm not sure if it is permanently or temporarily off the market, but this does happen commonly when a medication isn't frequently used anymore, it's just not economically feasible for most companies to keep manufacturing it. However, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying Tapentadol in it's place, it is a very similar medication that is more readily available. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constip...

Where can i find levorphanol? I have a prescription to br filled for 180 2 mg pills and was told by my pharmacy it was on backorder from the manufacturer and they do not know when it will be available. Is there shortage as of 2/2016? Is there more than one manufacturer? ## No problem filling in San Francisco. From what I'm understanding, Roxanne sold levorphanol to another pharmaceutical company and there was a price increase. Also, another pharma is currently working on a extended release form of the drug... ## The FDA doesn't list there being a shortage, but companies aren't required to report them, either. It's just an optional thing. This medication is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzin...

I have a terminal condition, so what do I have to lose by identifying myself? Nonetheless, please respect my privacy. It appears that Roxane manufactures/did manufacture Levorphanol under the trade name Levo-Dromoran and may be available outside the USA. The biochemical characteristics of this drug indicate that it might be a favorable replacement for the Oxymorphone that I take now. Apparently it can be compounded by a specialty pharmacy, but could a prescription be filled under the present circumstances for a manufactured form? ## I did, in fact, receive an e-mail from a representative at Boehringer Ingelheim USA indicating that Levorphanol tartrate is currently manufactured in a generic version by Roxane Laboratories. I assume it is available in 2 and 4mg tablets. Now I simply need t...

the cost has increased from 400/month to 8000/month... what can we do. ## For what its' worth, Sentynl, the new levorphanol "owner" has a patient assistant cost program, a $5.00 co-pay card for non-CMS folks and the site says please call them to problem-solve patient cost issues. Their url is: sentynlpatientservices.com for anyone interested. Hopefully its' all on the up and up for those of us needing assistance paying for our levorphanol Rx's... I also saw that Relmada is slowly moving fwd. with their extended-release version of levorphanol but no idea on how long it'll actually take them to bring it to market... Hopefully this information is useful for someone... ## Hi cajane, In addition to what Heideana suggested, this site actually offers a drug discount car...

I have been on levorphanol for approx. 12 years and is only medicine I've found that helps my rsd pain along with central and peripheral pain issues. I've tried a lot of med and this drug works the best without vomiting and other side effects. Now less than a week b4 I am going to be out of medicine I get a call from Caremark telling me they can't get it. What is ur suggestion? ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're run into this problem. Have you checked with other pharmacies near you? I searched the FDA shortage and discontinuation databases and there is nothing about either one being a problem with this medication. However, there is only one manufacturer, so there's a chance that demand may have exceeded current supply, since the reporting of...

Levo-Dromoran is a potent schedule II narcotic analgesic. Is it true that the 2mg tablet has been discontinued? ## Hi endorphin, I'm not finding any specific details on the discontinuation of Levo-Dromoran (levorphanol tartrate). Do you know whether or not this only pertains to a certain dosage or brand of the medication? It's quite possible that one of the manufacturers stopped making a particular tablet. Whereas another company could've resumed production. From what I could gather, Levo-Dromoran 2mg tablets are still currently manufactured for: Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, out of Costa Mesa, CA. Ref: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfmsetid=a6120c36 Any thoughts on this? ## Hello, I just thought I'd provide some additional information for Levo-Dromoran.....

My vet can't get Torbutrol anymore. Are there any pharmacies that still carry it? I have looked everywhere and can't find it. ## Torbutrol is a brand name for Butorphanol tartrate; however it very likely may have been discontinued, just as the other brand of this drug has: Butorphanol (Stadol) is a morphinan-type synthetic opioid analgesic developed by Bristol-Myers. The brand name Stadol was recently discontinued by the manufacturer. IT IS NOW ONLY AVAILABLE IN ITS GENERIC FORMULATIONS, manufactured by Novex, Mylan, Apotex and Ben Venue Laboratories and is available only as Butorphanol tartrate in IV, tablet, and intranasal spray formulations. SIDE NOTE: Butorphanol is most closely structurally related to Levorphanol - just to suggest another alternative. Based on this informat...
