What is the difference between Janumet XR 50mg/100 mg and Glipizide 5mg? Can they be used together? ## Janumet XR contains the active ingredients Metformin and Sitagliptin in a time released formulation to help better lower and control blood sugar in diabetic people. The Glipizide is a different oral antidiabetic medication. Has your doctor instructed you to use both medications? They can be taken together, but only if someone is experiencing high sugar levels that are hard to control, because it increase the risk of hypoglycemia. ## The active ingredients of Janumet XR are Sitagliptin + Metaformin. Both of these medications are used in the management of type 2 diabetes. Glipizide is generally used along with diet and exercise, and (sometimes) with other medications, to treat type 2 dia...

I can/T swallow the pill Janumet 50/1000 can this be crushed safely. ## As long as you don't have the time released formulation, which is called Janumet XR, then yes, you can crush or cut the pill to make it easier to swallow. Learn more Janumet details here. It is not safe to do so with the time released Janumet XR, because it may cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. Are there any other questions or comments? ## thank you for your answer, this will help a great deal

I have been using Janumet XR for 2 years. And my panel doctor has passed away recently and I have changed to another panel doctor. The question is this panel doctor prescribed me Galvus Met 50mg/850mg, what is the difference? Which one is better? I am a diabetic for 20 years. ## Janumet XR is listed as containing Sitagliptin and Metformin, while Galvusmet is listed as containing Vidagliptin and Metformin, according to NIH reports. Both have been proven effective at treating diabetes, it's really just a matter of which one works better for you. Have you tried the new medication, yet? I have been taking janumet 50/1000 twice a day for about 2 weeks. My question is when will the side effects stop? I have had painful gas, diarrhea and headaches. I have notices the gas pains have slowed a lot, but there seems to be no end in sight for the other 2. Help! I hated taking metformin but it is helping my sugars are down so I am reluctant to stop. Would the xr be better? ## update : headaches still but the diarrhea has calmed down. ## Those can be normal side effects of Janumet, according to FDA reports, other side effects may include runny nose, and joint pain. Ref: Janumet Information Typically, side effects hit their peak around 4 to 6 weeks of taking on steady dose of a new medication, then they should start to taper off, before eventually disappearing entirely. I have undergone by-pass surgery (cabg) on 23 september 2016. I am taking Janumet 50?500 and sugar levels are within allowed limits. For last two months, I am taking metolar xr 25, lassix 40 in the morning, clopitab a 150 after lunch and storvas 20 after dinner. Apart from heaviness on the chest I am feelin pain at the back and shoulder. Pain increases, it appears, after being subjected to shaking? jerking of the body while moving along an uneven road by car. Please advice whether this pain has any relation with cabg or it is a sepatate issue. ## It is most likely due to the Storvas that you are taking, as reported by the NIH, it is well known to cause joint and muscle aches in most people that take it, along with headache, nausea, and dizziness. I've been taking Janumet XR (50/1000) for a long time but it has not been very effective in bringing down my blood sugar levels. I saw another doctor who advised I split the medication up by taking Januvia 100mg in the morning and Glucophage 1000mg XR in the evening or vice versa and this regimen has shown some improvement but not as much as I had hoped or desired. Please help with any feedback or recommendations. I am 70 years old.

Doctor ordered me Janumet XR but there was no way I could take these horse-pills. The pills were huge and they couldn't be crushed or cut. I had to go back on Metformin and Januvia separately. Maybe the company should issue the medication in half a dosage taken twice a day rather than these Monster Pills.

I was prescribed JANUMET XR 1000/50 MG 2 TABLETS in the morning before breakfast and 2mg GLIMEPIRIDE after breakfast. I was suggested bya doctor to take GLYCOMET GP1 twice daily instead of JANUMET XR. should I continue to take GLIMEPIRIDE because i read that GP1 contains 1 mg of GLIMEPIRIDE ## Hello Rao! How are you? Yes, you should double check with the doctor, but it seems that he meant to replace your other medications with the Glycomet GP1, since it contains Metformin and Glimepiride. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, flatulence and low blood sugar. What are your normal sugar levels? Were they not in control with the Janumet XR?
