Fentanyl, also spelled fentanil, is a powerful opioid used as a pain medication and, together with other medications, for anesthesia.[3] It is also used as a recreational drug, sometimes mixed with heroin, cocaine, or methamphetamine. Its potentially deadly overdose effects can be neutralized by naloxone.[5] Fentanyl is commonly used to create counterfeit drugs marketed as OxyContin, Xanax, Adderall, and other pills. It has a rapid onset and its effects general...

hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. I am going to ask for 48 hours, and 50mcgs on the patch, and switching to oxycontin for B.T. pain.Hows that sound to ...

Hi I'm on 100 I do know when they run but they don't desalt seem to do much what is better then this for osteo pain? Thanks ## Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic opiate available on the market, it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. How often do you change the patches? What other medications have you tried? ## I hope by now you've found a medication or mixture of meds that are helpful. As there are too many people handing out bad information & using these sorts of places to find drugs, it's not proper to ask for names of "better" medications. There are medications stronger than fentanyl & for osteo pain; a mix of NSAIDs & narcotics, as well as physical therapy & exercise, have been proven to be most beneficia...

How many percocets equal the 100mcg patches changed every 48 hours ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, so you'd actually need several hundred milligrams of Oxycodone to equal a 100mcg patch and you can't take enough Percocet to be equal to it. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, you'd overdose, especially on the Acetaminophen, before you ever reached the same level of efficacy. Even if you tried to space it over 2 days, as you would the patch. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor switched you form one to the other? ## okay? I have a question on pain ...

How many mgs.of roxycodone is equal to 100mg of fentanyl spray for under your tough? ## Two different pain medications can and usually do effect everyone differently whether it's the same dosage or not. The results would be different every time, based on tolerance, body chemistry, underlying health conditions, and several other personal factors. Fentanyl is also regarded as a significantly more potent pain medication. If you tried to take the amount of Roxicodone that would equal Fentanyl, you may as well have overdosed on Roxicodone. All in all, there is really no safe way to compare two very diiferent opiates. Narcotic conversions are innaccurate and are really just an educated guess. Be very careful when using Fentanyl. Many people are not aware that the 100mcg is only an hourly ...

However, this website does not manufacture, prescribe nor sell any medications or products. It is an information only resource. Are you currently on Fentanyl? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What has your doctor advised?

Hi, I have been on Fentanyl (Durogesic) about 8yrs. I started at 25mcg ended up to 100mcg every 48hrs. I have numerous chronic pain conditions. I had Glandular Fever then a few months later Ross River Fever (from a mosquito) I ended up with fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue. I then had a work accident and had surgery to repair torn tendons in my shoulder. During surgery I had a stroke. Apparently there was no oxygen in the lines and this caused stroke. Things went downhill quickly from there. 56 ischemic strokes, a large cerebral aneurysm that required life saving surgery, a couple of smaller aneurysms that burst, I already had degenerative spine which got to the point I now have ruptured and bulging discs (ranging from neck to lumbar) and neuralgia in neck and jaw from the brain surgery. My pain specialist switched me from 100mcg of fentanyl to 40mg 2 times a day of opana ER. Was this the right conversion? I went through withdrawal for 3 weeks and I'm still in a lot of pain. ## Fentanyl is currently the stronger opiate available, so no, it is not equivalent and it is normal to experience withdrawals and rebound pain for awhile, according to FDA reports. Has there been any change, yet? You might need a dosage adjustment. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. ## I was just switched over from opana 40 mg twice a day to a 50 mcg fentanyl patch. Can you still get withdrawals from the opana?

How is it all of the sudden I am told 4 days before my due date for 15 Fentanyl patches (100 mcg 1 patch every 2 days) will not be filled because Medicaid doesn't wan't to pay for it? I heard this started in 2012 yet they have been paying for it! It's February 2013 so why the all the sudden very very short notice? This is in Indiana.I also get Flexiril.Thank you in advance. ## I am sorry that you are having such a problem, but I don't have an answer for you. This website specializes in information on medications, their uses and side effects, but nothing to do with coverage of insurance and etc. Do you have a case worker or someone that you can call to ask about it? Thanks ## If you find a way to get the patch at a price someone on disability can afford let me know please buy insurance get up my cost from $2.50 to $40.00 and for that increase I would have to go without food or heat which do I choose. ## I'm also in the "donut hole"and I have to say no meds should cost $400 on disablity it's almost impossible, but my pain is so bad I just can't do without. I am on the 100 mcg fentanyl patch and 4 mgs hydromorphone for breakthrough pain, does anyone know about the fentanyl lozenges for breakthrough pain? I’d like to request my doctor take me off hydromorphine and change to the lozenges for my breakthrough pain, I’m wondering if someone is doing this already? Thank you ## In many cases, Fentanyl isn't doubled up due to the very real risk of overdosing the patient. It is a very potent narcotic, so a doctor has to be very cautious regarding how much they prescribe, and how frequently it is to be taken. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. An overdose, however, may be fatal. Why do you want to swi...

Is this medication prescribed for certain patients only? I have seen some kind of program. You have to be in rims access program prescribers patients, and the pharmacies have to take an internet class. ## Yes, I took fentanyl for fifteen yrs orally and now just patches. The form is easy - just fill it out and have your Dr. fill one. If he prescribes fentanyl he is already registered, then most major pharmacies will be registered. If not call rims and they can tell you what pharmacies near you are.
