what does the rash that a person might get while on this med look like? ## It depends on why they are getting the rash. If it's a side effect rash, it usually just looks like a systemic rash that covers a large portion of the body, but it isn't itchy and doesn't include hives. However, an allergic rash will usually be itchy and cause hives. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness and anorexia. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to let you know what has caused the rash. ## I have been on Contrave for 2 weeks. I didn't have any side effects until I started taking 2 pills a day. Now I am breaking out in bumps under my arms, under my belly, my back and on the inside of my ...

I have been on this for about a month. I was only taking 3 a day. I didn't feel comfortable taking 4. So my Dr said that was fine. Then Friday night I felt done swelling in my throat, but that subsided after a couple hours. I went to bed, got up to go to bathroom and my legs felt really heavy. So I laid back down and in about 5 minutes later got up, same thing. I also started feeling very nauseous. Thought maybe I was coming down with the flu. Never got sick, just felt bad. Finally was able to sleep. Still feeling bad the next morning. Decided to take only 1 the next morning. Decided to check my bp at Dillons. I know they are not real accurate, but give me an idea. My bp was 150/89. Went to minor med. They checked it, it was 130/90. So a little high. I am on bp meds. Didn't take...

I called to get a price on Contrave and Walgreens said it is $267.00 without a coupon, but how much would it cost with the coupon online? ## The coupon brings it down to about $90 bucks. I went to Frys grocery store pharmacy. ## Esmi, how many tablets would you be getting filled in each prescription? You may want to see if this site's discount card can give you a decent savings. If you go to the page and then the lookup tool you should be able to enter information about your prescription and your zip code so that it can show you a list of pharmacies and the price of a refill. Hope this helps and best of luck! ## Retail pharmacy price was 260.00; not covered. Checked out Express Scripts covered it. For a 90 day supply, 12.50. If your insurance offers express script.. check it out

I've taken hydrocodone for years due to chronic pain, I'm needing to lose weight but have to keep taking my pain meds. Will the contrave block the pain out like the hydrocodone does or just block the hydrocodone from working ## Hello, Rayne! How are you? No, Contrave will not do anything to alleviate pain. The FDA lists it as containing Naloxone and Bupropion, so yes, it will also block most opiates from having any effect. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, headache and dry mouth. What has your doctor advised?

I been taking Contrave since September. I did the one pill the first week...at first I felt loopy, light-headed a little off, but I got used to it and inplus was tired. Started my second pill the next week and I stopped at the second dose...I could not sleep. So I stopped and just continued with the one pill for about 3 weeks with no problems with my sleep, so then I got the courage to start the second dose which is the one pill in the evening...did fine after maybe three days into the evening pill. I would go to sleep but when I wake up couldn't go back to sleep. I was feeling light headed like the feeling of low blood sugar. But I sucked it up and continued with the evening pill. Now I would like to start with the third pill but I'm not sure. The job that I do and with me work...

Started today with first pill, wow, never been real sensitive to meds but this one, Contrave ,I was dizzy and VERY nauseous! Hope it's better tomorrow! ## Hello, Suzy! How are you feeling? Has there been any improvement? Those can be typical side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience headache, nervousness and insomnia. Has anyone else that's taken Contrave experienced these side effects? ## Yes, as long as I eat a REAL meal, not a snack, then there is no nausea! I'm on 2 pills twice a day now and no side effects except some sleepiness!

So I officially started Contrave on May 24, 2017, I took my first dose a little before lunch because I had to wait for the RX to be filled. That day was pretty unremarkable, as far as potential side effects and appetite. The second day was my first day at work on Contrave, and I was fairly optimistic because the day prior went so well. I definitely felt “medicated”, I felt slower mentally, but my appetite was gone, the constant cravings, planning of my next meal, and all food thoughts were basically non-existent. Every morning I get a Venti Coffee from Starbucks, and on days 2 and 3 I found that I really didn’t enjoy it, also, I noticed that almost immediately after my coffee I felt hunger for the first time in days, and I also had a dull headache, but both the hunger ...

I'm on 2nd week of Contrave 1 pill Am 1 pill pm. I have had a minor procedure which requires Norco 325/7.5. Is it's ok to take. (ER prescribed) yes I told them what medicine I was taking. I also was on Vyvanse 40mg and Kolopin(as needed), when my Dr perscribed Contrave ? ## I stopped the Vyvanse due to me seeing it had a major side effect risk. The started the contrave 3 days later to be safe. ## The Naltrexone in the Contrave will most likely prevent the Hydrocodone in the Norco in working, so it isn't likely that it will help with pain, if you are still taking Contrave. The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, and headache. Have you taken any, yet? If so, what has ...

Hello, I have been taking Contrave for 6 days, so 1 pill in the morning with a small meal. We are going floating today and plan on having a few beers so I chose not to take my Contrave today. It will be 29 hours between my last Contrave and first beer. Do you think that’ll be ok? ## From Google::: Do not drink a lot of alcohol while taking CONTRAVE. If you drink a lot of alcohol, talk with your healthcare provider before suddenly stopping. If you suddenly stop drinking alcohol, you may increase your chance of having a seizure. What are the possible side effects of CONTRAVE? ## It is always best to refrain from imbibing, when taking medications, but if you are going to enjoy a couple of drinks with your doctor's approval, anyway, remember to keep it in moderation. Combining alc...

The pamphlet at the dr said the cost would be about $70 per month. I had to pay $134 the first month, and it will be about $240 on maintainence? What is everyone else paying? ## Hello, Pam! How are you? That pamphlet was referring to their saving's card, it's available on the Contrave website. You have to print it out and take it to the pharmacy with you. It lowers the cost of the first two fills to $70 and then $60 after that. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Okay so i have been taking contrave for about a week, but my question is, how many hours after taking contrave can i take advil or tylenol? ## There is a risk of liver problems, such as liver damage and liver failure, according to FDA reports, so you should not take contrave with either one of these medications. Have you informed your doctor? They should be able to advise you on something that will not put you in danger.

I started Contrave on August 1st and was up to full dosage by September 1st. I've been battling side effects, headaches, nausea, motion sickness, insominia and now I've noticed a lot of hair loss. So much that I can see my scalp and have a dime sized bald spot forming. I started weaning last week because of the terrible headaches but now with this hair loss I'm determined to wean off all of the way. I'm searching for ways to restore my hair. I'm feeling very depressed. Will my hsir come back does anyone konw? Has this happened to anyone else? ## That can be a side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports, though it isn't a common on. However, yes it should improve, when you stop taking this medication, but it may take a few months for your hair and its...

I have been taking contrave for 2 months. My side effects are tiredness in the afternoon and neasua in the morning. They are not enough for me to quit. This morning I vomited from the neasua and with the force of the dry heave I got a sudden severe headache lasting about one minute. Then a dull headache ever since. Should I be concerned? ## Those can be normal side effects, according to NIH reports, but it is always best to have such a symptom checked out, because it could be a sign of other dangerous health issues. You may also experience headache, nervousness, and anorexia. Are you on any other medications? How often do you usually experience headaches?

I have been taking one 5-325 mg Percocet at night for some oral surgery I had last week. I am OK to stop using the Percocet as most the pain is gone and I was taking it at night as I grind my teeth which can cause additional pain but I can deal with the iburofen taking care of it now. I want to start my Contrave but took one Percocet last night. Can I take the Contrave? This will be my first try with Contrave. ## Taking the Contrave too close to the Percocet could cause an increased risk of seizures, according to FDA reports, it could also throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Thus, it is usually best not to take Contrave, until you are in withdrawal from the Percocet, or have been off of it about 3 days, or so, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. How are you doing, now? Did you ...

Has anyone else had problems with severe water retention after taking Contrave? Mine started day two. I already take a mild water pill but it hasn't touched the swelling. I do not have ankles any longer, they are now "cankles". ## Hello, Janie! How are you? Yes, though it is rare, the Bupropion in Contrave has been known to cause edema in some people that take it. Have you informed your doctor? You may need a stronger diuretic or a switch to a different medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and nervousness. ## I am on my 2nd week of Contrave and noticed that my ankles and feet are swollen. I was on free 2 weeks of Belviq followed by 1 mo out of pocket Belviq. Lost and felt good with NO side effects at all. Then my doctor said she thought Contrave would be a better choice because it is just as effective, if not more, and cheaper...just 70 dollars a month. But, I have heart racing and feel agitated. I did not experience either with Belviq. I feel like calling my Dr. Back and asking to switch back and suck up the 200 mo. For Belviq. ## Hello, Jewels! How are you? Are you certain that Contrave is the correct name of the medication? Because it is listed by the FDA as containing Naltrexone and Buprenorphine, which is used to treat drug addiction, it is not used for weight loss. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects,...

I have tried both medications at different times over the past two year. I was placed on them having gained 80 pounds in 9 months and having difficulty with obesity for most of my life. Also I was diagnosed as diabetic type 2 at about the same time and needed to curb my appetite. Initially I took Qsymia - yes it is more than twice as expensive than Contrave. Qsymia cost about $220 for a month's supply with a discount card you can get from the company who makes the medication or your Pharmacy may have a card they can use. Insurance does not cover either drug as far as I know. Contrave costs less than half at $80 for a month's suppy. It can be up to a week before your script is filled. If you bring your script into a Pharmacy not associated with a hospital they may need to order t...

I've been taking contrave for 4 weeks now (2 pills in morning and 2 in evening) for the first 3 weeks I felt nauseous, anxiety, and heart rate was amped up but all that disappeared at week 4. I did notice a decrease in appetite week 3-4 and I'm also not munching or eating late at night but I still haven't lost any weight! Should I wait it out and see how it works? Is it too soon to tell? I was really counting on this and I feel like my hopes are shut down ## Has there been any change? After discussing Contrave with my doctor and doing so research on my own, I believe it may be the final thing I need. I have been working with a trainer for two months and have been diligent about healthy eating and I am losing weight. Fiben my appetite/craving issues, my doctor suggested adding the Contrave to what I am already doing. My only concern is its effect on blood pressure. I have high BP but it is controlled with meds. I am sure the high BP is due in part to the extra weight I am carrying, but I do not want to risk a heart attack or stroke by adding Contrave in my effort to lose that weight. So, I am curious how much of a risk of increased BP is their on Contrave and, given that mine is controlled with meds, will Contrave counteract my BP meds and send my BP into heart attack...
