My 69 yr old aunt was on 20mg Lisinopril for a month, but her diastolics still ran over 90. Benicar was substituted. Anyone have side effects? ## In regards to such questions, I have to state that all medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products. That's just the nature of adding a foreign substance to the human body. Learn more Benicar details here. Benicar contains the active ingredient Olmesartan, it is an ARB that's commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. Additionally, this class of medications shouldn't be taken with NSAIDs, since the NSAIDs can lessen their effectiveness. Are there any comments or questions?

I was taking Benicar HCT and had to change because it caused a chemical induced Hepatitus. Which had me in the hospital for a 3 day stay with really bad stomach pains. A Liver specialist believes the cause was the Benicar HCT. ## Are you off of the Benicar HCT, if so, what other prescription were you placed on? I seemed to be having soreness through out my stomach area along with my lower regions. But I am taking Lisprinol, the generic version of Benicar ## Lisinopril is not the generic for Benicar, the generic for Benicar is Olmesartan. The name brand for Lisinopril is Prinivil or Zestril.

Husband, 64, is being switched to Losartan. I am concerned b/c of trying to match correct dose. Benicar dose was 20/12.5, Losartan will be 100/12.5. (haven't taken yet) From what I've read, the 50/12.5 sounds more like it -or should he request to take 50mg 2ce a day? I'm going to contact Dr regarding this, but thought I'd get some input from you experts first so I'll know what to ask and how. Other concern is he is dx'd with Afib and HBP and is on a slew of other meds: prazosin, nisoldipine, flecainide, metoprolol and just added digoxin. We're trying to avoid sudden drop in BP with this Losartan adjustment. Any recommendations? Thanks ## I honestly wouldn't recommend trying to compare and match dosages between two different drugs whether they treat the sa...

Thank you?? ## Has anyone else experienced severe cramps and Charlie horses while taking benicar hct ? ## Benicar contains the active ingredient Olmesartan, it is most commonly used to treat hypertension, and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, there is no medication available under the name Loristatin. HI. I am Brazilian, I'm 70, 79 kilos, my blood tests are good, not practical exercises regularly, but I have a fairly busy life physically here on my farm. Although all of this, I suffer from high blood pressure since I was 25 years old. My blood pressure often is between 155 up to 184 x 103 x92. My doctor referred me CONCOR 5mg + 40mg Benicar HCT + amlodipine 5mg, but these medications do not control my blood pressure. During the day my BP ranges from 154 x 94 coming down till 106 x 61 after a very buzy day and greater work effort. Especially at night, my BP goes up drastically, reaching up to 185 x 103 so I have to take Captopril 25mg and repeat the dose after 40 minutes if not reduce BP. In sometimes used Isordil sub-tong (my BP falls rapidly to 120 x 7 and continues for some time),

My Dr. recently changed me from Benicar hct 40-25 to Valsartan (?mg). Comparisons seem to be the same mostly, however, I also take Potassium Chloride 20... Can I still combine the medication? I take it in the a.m. I also take Metoprolol succinate 75mg in the evening. Is this ok to combine with the other medications mentioned above? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions, multiple medications are often prescribed to help lower high blood pressure as fast, and as safely as possible. The FDA warns that you may experience more severe side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you been told to stop the Benicar? You said your doctor intended to change you from one to the other, so it would best to take only what your do...

small oval light purple tablet with E 211 ## This contains 20mgs of Benazepril and 12.5mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide, a generic for Lotensin HCT. This is a combination drug that helps lower blood pressure and contains a diuretic to remove too much water and salt. ## is Benzaepril H and Benazepr HcT the same thing? Mine is not a small oval purple pill, but an average size yellow pill with M/735 stamped on it ## My Benazepr HCT Tabs are ovals approximately 5/8th of an inch long and 7/32nd of an inch thick. I would say they are light beige rather than yellow and they are stamped with M775. Because they are generic could the color be somewhat different for different producers who also use their own id number? ## I have been on Benicar HCT and my doctor prescribed Benazepr HCT. Can this be a form or substitute of benicar hct ??? ## Hello, Robb! This tablet is manufactured by Zydus Pharmaceuticals and they list is as containing 200mgs of Hydroxychloroquine. The FDA shows this medication as being used to treat or prevent malaria. Its typical side effects may include nausea, blurred vision, headache, unusual bruising and weakness. Bencher contains the active ingredient Olmesartan, which is classified by the FDA as an ARB. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and hypotension. I was told by the pharmacist that there is no generic substitution for benicar hct. I would like to know if that is in fact the case as it is very expensive ## Yes, that is true, it is still too new to be available in generic form yet. There are, however, other drugs in the same class. I would suggest speaking to your doctor about using a different medication, telling them that you cannot afford to keep paying for this one. Most doctors just prescribe the name brand that they have most recently thought of, or heard good things about from a recently visiting pharmaceutical representative. It does not necessarily mean one is any better than the other. ## is Tylenol PM contraindcated while taking Benicar?

Is there a blood pressure medicine alternative to Benicar. I would like to find a cheaper alternative. ## lisinopril/HCTZ (Prinzide®, Zestoretic®). Just found it today on the web. ## can you buy generic benicar ## Unfortunately there will not be a generic available until 2016 when the patent for this drug expires. ## I just bought generic benicar. came from India... you can also get it from Austraila. and Canada. benicar is expencive... its worth it if it helps..I just hope it has all the active ingrediants, not a phony placebo. ## To "Bill" regarding your posting on 10/10 and finding a generic Benicar overseas...have you had time to try this version out and is so, do you feel it is a viable substitute for the American manufactured version? Cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors (24 hrs of coughing) nor calcium channel blockers (little help; leg swelling). On Benicar HCT and have persistent sinus problems and coughing that do not respond to allergy or sinus medications. Doc insists that the benicar is not the reason! Anyone else had this problem? What medication is comparable to losartan hctz 100 25 mg at a much cheaper price? ## Hello, Rusty! How are you? You might want to ask your pharmacy if the price is any better if they are prescribed separately, rather than as one medication. You could also ask them the prices on others, such as the generic for Benicar HCT. This mediation is listed by the FDA as being most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dehydration, increased urination and hypotension. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? They may know what else is cheaper in your area.
