I have disc issues from L1 to L5 and I was on Oxycodone for 1 1/2 years starting at 5/325 4x's a day and ended @ 30mg 6x's aday so I decided to get off the Oxycodone with Suboxone, started @ 8mg Suboxone 2x's a day then tapered to .25.g Suboxone 1x a day over a 5 mos period, here's the problem in the 5 mos period since I wasn't on pain meds my pain came back full force and I started taking the Oxycodone 10mg 6x's a day for the last week, so I wanted to know if I was to stop taking the Oxycodone would I still go into withdrawal as though I had never stopped, the proiblem is in the last 5 months I lost my job and Medical insurance and I can't afford the Suboxones (oxycodone is a lot cheaper when prescribed than Suboxone ) I need an operation so in the mean whil...

I am on 30mg Roxycotin (oxycodone) 180 tablets per month. I have insurance, however, cannot find a pharmacy that has supplies of prescription (I hear many people are having this issue recently). My doctor might prescribe an alternative. I am very afraid of the alternative due to not understanding how medications translate. I fear it not being adequate for me to function and go to work. What is a viable alternative? Does anybody know. I am told dilaudid (I cannot spell the med.) But the doctor is saying 8mg. in the amount of 110 pills (as opposed to 30mg of oxycodone in the amount of 180 pills) that I am currently prescribed. It looks like a serious drop in the ammount and mg. of medication. I fear the worst. Anybody have any advice. It would be greatly appreciated. ## dear freind; the r...

I had back surgery and was taking 15mg of Oxycodone and I took 8mg of suboxone for 3 days thinking I would be ok but my back is in so much pain. How long before I can take my medication again? ## Wait 24 - 48 hours. 36-48 hrs is recommended. ## My Suboxone is not covered by UnitedHealthcare community plan wanted to know what would I be put on next for chronic pain besides any other opiates ## I have the same health care and got approved. Your doctor has to have a one on one with the health insurance doctor and if it's in ur benefit then this health care will approve for a short time. My first approval was only 3 months then my second 6 months and at tell end of this 6, going to ask for another approval. As long as you are following protocol and guide lines, (u have to go to out pati...

I Have had HepC for years. Been on dilaudid 8mg. for a couple years. Still in pretty bad pain. Would oxycodone 30mgs. be stronger than my Dilaudids? ## Hello, Sassie! How are you? Yes, you'd only beed 21.33mgs of Oxycodone to be equal to each 8mg Dialudid, so the 30mgs is actually a stronger dosage. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## So, oxycodone 30 mg is stronger than Dilaudid 8 mg? My pain Dr. Tiles me the opposite and stopped my OXY in the day for Dilaudid 8 mg and a Oxycontin 30 mg er for nighttime. Did he just screwed me? ## I used to have Hep C and don't anymore,...

Mite sound like a silly question but I have a desent tolerance to my meds I took 30mg oxycodone its not doin i have and 8mg dilaudid i have never took the to together im just wondering if i should split the dilaudid in half or take as a whole ## Hello, Bhat! How are you? How has your doctor advised you to take them? Both of them risk causing depression of the central nervous systems and taking both will compound the problem, so you may run into dangerously low heart rate and blood pressure. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## how long will it take for my body to process 12 mg of dilaudid a day for 2 1/2 weeks? thanks!! ## Does anyone know if there are c...

Hi everyone I'm a 25 year old male and have been taking 2-3 30 mg Oxycodone pills a day for the last 3 years. I get w/d after 1 full day with no pills but I 100% percent want to be done for good. I was fortunate enough to obtain 3 8mg Suboxone film strips. I know everyone varies but can anyone give any helpful advice to get me off the Oxys with just these 3 Subs? I don't think ill be able to get more from the person and I don't want to pay all the money for doc visits and a script. Please help, I know I'm ready to be done and get back to my old self. BTW I'm 5'11 and 185 lbs if that helps with the advice of how much to take. Thank you for your time ## Suboxone is not meant to be used with such a mild habit, where you're really just dependent on the medication...

my pain dr. who I have been seeing for over a year have end stage brain lung cancer has been writing for 180 8mg diliuidid and 175 mg fentenol patch all is well and working today I saw his asscioaite and she changed my diliudid to 10mg Percocet every 8 hrs is this ethically right my organs are already compromised and now she wants to put acetaminophen into my liver ## Hello, Joey! How are you? She's actually not obligated to prescribe you anything and due to the new regulations, unless you have a terminal condition, such as late stage cancer, there are limits as to how much you can be prescribed, so she couldn't keep writing for 180 of the Dilaudid. And it would be rare to have any damage occur from just taking 3 of the Percocet a day, with just 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose....

My dr switched my oxycodone 30mg to dilaudid 8 mg. I am wondering how they compare to one another? ## Based on my research, Dilaudid is much stronger then Oxycodone, but it doesn't last very long in it's immediate release formula. Oxycodone has an extended release formula (Oxycontin); which may be better suited for some people when used chronically for long term pain relief. 8mg of Dilaudid is "roughly equivalent" to 20mg of Oxycodone. This information is based on my own findings and is not relative to each individual's body chemistry or cross tolerance, as every drug can effect each person differently. I hope this info helps! ## what mg of dilaudid is equal to 15 mg of oxycodone? ## 16MG of dilaudid(2 8mg tabs) is equal to 30mg oxycodone. Swallowing dilaudid is way ...

This is a nightmare!! I suffer from multiple auto-immune diseases such as Connective Tissue Disease, R.A, Livedo, Raynauds, & traces of Lupus. All of which cause EXCRUTIATING PAIN!! On top of all of those, my body attacks itself 24/7!! Over the years the doctors have tried a ridiculous amount of different pain medications. I called it the 'medication game', & it was anything but fun!! Either there was minimal to no relief with them, or they made me feel awful! They tried everything from Percocet 10mgs, Endocet, Methadone 45mgs per day, oxycontin, Hydromorphine 4mgs tablets & 8 mg tablets, & all medicatons are/were accompanied by Ibproufen 800 mgs capsules. During one hospital visit they even had me on a conjunction of Dilauded 8mgs PLUS oxycontin 20 mgs, every 3 ...

Made a mistake and swallowed an 8mg suboxone pill (thought it was my woman's vitamin) with my 30mg oxycodone at the same time! OMG, what is going to happen to me!? ## Hello, Becky! How are you? Wow! I am sorry about what happened and I understand your concern. The main issue here, according to the FDA, is the fact that the Suboxone could cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals, which could include fever, chills, sweating, rebound pain, and seizures. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects? The Suboxone could also prevent your Oxycodone from working for about 3 days. ## Will not effect you in any way,,IV done it a thousand times,,,but it will prevent the OXY, from working well,,hope this helped

is opana a mixture of morphine and oxycodone? i know that it is oxymorphone, but i don't know what that is and i am allergic to morphine. ## No, Oxymorphone is a complete, separate compound, it does not contain Morphine or Oxycodone. However, it is distantly related to Morphine and there is a warning about it being used in patients who are sensitive to or allergic to Morphine. While it is rare, some can be allergic to this, as well. Has your doctor prescribed it or suggested using it? Are they aware of your allergy? Learn more: ## I'm allergic to Morphine and I take 4 40MG Opana ER a day.I've been taking them for 4 months now and no reactions. ## I need a new strong pain killer, not the gradual release kind. I understand oxycodone is 1.5x stronger than morphine, but does that take the oral bioavailability into account? I've seen someone say 20mg of oxycodone is equivalent to 30mg of morphine, but is that taking into account that only 30% of the morphine is absorbed by the body whereas with oxycodone it's about 80% So when taking 30mg of morphine you're body is really only getting about 9mg but when taking 20mg of oxycodone you're getting 16mg of it absorbed into your body. I think I am going to be switched from 30mg of Morphine to 10mg of Oxycodone, in terms of bioavailability that means instead of my body getting 9mg of morphine, I'll be getting 8mg of oxycodone instead. Will this be as effective? ## Yes, all of this is taken into account, when the medications are studi...

Im taking 30mg of oxycodone 6xa day would 8mg of hydromorphone 4 x a day be better was on 30 mg of oxycodone every 4 hours with 15 mg of oxycodone in between now they have cut me down to 30mg 6 times a day should i stay on the oxycodone or switch to hydrmorhone? ## In order to be equivalent to your current dosage of Oxycodone, you would need 67.5mgs of the Hydromorphone. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Did your doctor suggest this change? ## Hydrmorhone is duladid correct or incorrect, and what is oxymorphone? ## Matthew, Yes, hydromorphone is Dilaudid while oxymorphone is better known under the brand name Opana. Both are very potent opiods that carry a...

Help!! I go to pain management once a month. Been on Hydromorphone (8mgs.3x's a day) for about a year. Not helping much at all for quite a while! I'm On Hydromorphone cause I have Hep C. My question is: does Oxycodone come without acetaminophen and Tylenol? ## Hello, Sassie Massie! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Tylenol is just a name brand for Acetaminophen, so they are the same thing. And yes, Oxycodone is available by itself in instant release, regular release and time released formulations. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you, Verw...

Help me in Raleigh/Durham, NC....I am 31 years old, otherwise healthy male, with two slipped/herniated discs, low (L4, L5) Facet Degeneration, Chronic Back Pain, and multiple other issues with my low back. I also suffer from severe migraine headaches, anxiety, and mild ADHD I have been dealing with this for over 8 years. Sometimes the pain is so bad that I can't get out of bed and I have had to call out sick to work several times risking my job. I see a neurologist (who will also no longer see me) who was prescribing Dilaudid 8MG up to 3 times a day, Lorazepam 1MG Tabs up to 6 per Day and Methylphenidate 20MG up to 3X daily. I have always been 100% honest, open, and passed every UA I was given. All this trouble started when my vehicle was broken into and some of the medicines were s...

Random question...I have a place where I keep all my meds and I was bedridden today so my dad had to get my dose for today for me. I had a sub in there and he was supposed to give me my Oxycodone today. I am sure he gave me the sub by accident. I took it at 11am does anyone know how long the half life of that would be so I know when my Oxycodone will work again? I am hurting pretty badly! I've never taken subs before so I don't know a thing about them. ## It usually takes about 3 days, before other opiates will work for you, again. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

I am having withdrawals from my regular medication which is oxycodone. I'm recently prescribed dilaudid 8mg for pain - how long will this medication work for, and will it take away the wd symptoms? ## It should help, each 8mg Dilaudid is equivalent to 21.33mgs of Oxycodone. They are usually taken every 4 to 6 hours. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I found dilaudid 8mg pills that may be 4 years old. Are these pills still good to stop pain?

I am currently taking Roxicodone 30's each day. I have suboxone 8mg/2mg to help get off of these. I know the suboxones are the best pill made to help with the withdrawals but I'm wondering if for the firsrt 3 to 5 days when I'm having trouble sleeping and feeling clammy, if i should take like half of a Roxicodone 30 (which i have done in the past), as it helps me to sleep and takes away the clammy feeling? Any other suggestions that you may have? Thanks to anyone answering this for me. ## Taking the Oxycodone pills with the Suboxone will do you no good, it contains a substance that neutralizes opiates to prevent their abuse during treatment, that is why it throws you into withdrawals. Suboxone should really not be used without a doctor's supervision, as the dosage and us...
