Can you take 5mg of ambien with Lyrica ## Hello, Jane! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but you should only take them if they have both been prescribed for you. The FDA lists the side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, funny taste in mouth, sleep actions, next day hangover-like effects and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am not a doctor so I don't know for sure . I am a 75 year old woman and I take 10 mg of ambien and 75 mg of Lyrica two times a day not to mention other medications and I am ok. My doctor gave me the medications but everyone is different.

Lyricda worked well to decrease my debiliting level of neuropathic pain and burn in feet and lower legs. This allowed me to function better in my daily activities. Medicaid has seen fit to deny me the dosage (500 mg/day) which worked, and only allow me 300 mg/day, which is ineffective. I need documentation on the efficasy of doses over 300 mg/day in order to fight my appeal of this decision. Thanx, kate

I have been taking 50 mg of Lyrica 3 xs a day for about 8 years. I understand there is finally a generic Pregabalin available. Has anyone taken the generic? I was getting my Lyrica for free through Pfizer but now that there is a generic Pfizer will no longer give me Lyrica and I will have to pay for it. ## That is normal, once the generic is available, a manufacturer will usually end their assistance program for any given medication. I was on Atacand for several years, and then had to switch, once a generic became available, and the program ended, because at that time, I was uninsured, and still couldn't afford the generic price, which was over $100 a month. The generic for Lyrica, which as you mentioned is Pregabalin, is as effective as the name brand, and has helped many people. T...

I have been taking lyrica for 7 weeks now for severe nerve pain. I began to gain a lot of weight immediately but because the drug is so effective at relieving my pain, I was very reluctant to come off it. Three weeks ago I began the 5:2 diet - eating 500 calories on 2 non-consecutive days each week and normally for the rest of the week - ('The 5:2 Vegetarian Diet Made eZy' by Polly Fielding and `The 5:2 Diet: Single Serving Vegetarian Recipes' by Belinda Price are books I bought to help me). I was amazed at how easily the pounds dropped off after only a couple weeks. I am on 150 mg twice daily. I do hope this helps someone with the same worries I had about the side effect of weight gain whilst taking lyrica . ## Yes I agree, I too was able to control my weight while on Lyric...

I have been taking Lyrica 50mg 3x a day for idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet for the past 5 years. It works very well for me and I have -0- side effects. When I miss a dose my legs start burning and I become aware that I missed my dose. I also am able to get my Lyrica for free from Pfizer. ## Awesome! So very glad that it is working so well for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. You haven't experienced any of them? That's amazing! Has anyone else had such a good experience with this? ## No, but then again my dose is rather low— 50 mg. 3 x a day ## I think most of you who are experiencing all the side effects mentioned in this forum would benefit if they lowered...

I cut off three of my middle fingers at the first joint 4 months ago. I was first prescribed Oxycodon by one doctor. I got worried about addiction and switched to a hand soecialist. He prescribed Tramodo and Lyrica. After 3 months of 150 mg twice a day I can;t walk without a cane, I've gained 20 pounds, I have short term memory loss plus a host of other related problems. I'm also taking Levetiracetam 500 mg AM and PM, another anti seizure med. I've got to come off Lyrica, but if the hand specialist balks at the idea, what kind of doctor can help wean me off Lyrica. I'm willing to tough it out with the pain. ## Hello, Jim! How are you? The issue here is that your problems may not be solely due to the Lyrica. The Levetiracetam can also cause such problems, these are fairly...

I started taking Lyrica for 3 weeks now for my Chronic Facial Pain. I had taken all the chronic pain meds and nothing work. I was diagnos with this illness since I had a root canal done, I even got 2 teeth extracted though the pain would go away. Anyway, I am now having some reaction, my feet and legs feels fat. However, my pain is about 4 in a scale of 10 being very painful. I take Lyrica 3x a day with 50 mg each along with oxycodon (if pain does not go away) and motrin 800 mg for head aches. I been on norcotic medicines for 2 years and now with Lyrica and etc. I am just wondering if the chronic pain actually go away? I tried gabapentin 300mg. (instead of Lyrica 50mg.) the first time I used it, it made my heart pound so bad I could not use it, could I use a smaller mgs. of gabapentin. I have spinal stenosis, I have diabetes, my legs jumps all over, can't sleep because of it. ## Hello, Betty! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you experienced. No, they are not the same. Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, it is in the same class of medications, but different. Thus, it may work better for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Your dose isn't high enough for neuropathy. I have taken it for 11yrs and I'm on 800mg 3 times a day. Racing heart ha...

For years now I have been taking 4 tramacet and 2 lyrica every day. The side effects are weight gain, a bit of finger and arm numbness and sleep disturbance. On the good side the tramacet is all that really works on nerve pain (S1 root damage chronic) and the lyrica takes the second edge off the pain. If you are careful it should be ok. Always best to eat something with these two medicines. You have to slowly taper off either of them. No sudden stops because a sudden stop can cause seizures. ## I took Lyrica for 2 hrs for periphiel neuropathy pain and then it turned on me making me unable to see, bad uneasy feeling and kidney cancer and failure. I am scared to death to take even 1 -50 mg! And the withdrawal! Felt like I was burning alive! Ought to be against the law! the only drug that ...

My pain dr recently started me on 50 mg of Lyrica. If the 50mg doesn't help what mg should I take? I have deep sore stiff pain and it only hurts worse when im walking or standing to wash dishes. They say I have osteoarthritis in my back and knees and they are rubbing bone to bone. What should I tell my pain dr.? Please help me. ## Hello, Verna! How are you? Well, the best thing to do is to give the Lyrica a chance and see if it will help you, or not. How long have you been taking it? It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes.

I was prescibed Lyrica for my nerve pain in my left leg and the doctor told me it takes at least 2 weeks to really get into your system. He also said that it is much better than Neurontin, which I am currently taking. Dont know about any side effects yet. But will let ya know. Hope this helps. ## any info on this thing helps, I have been on it for about 6 orf 7 weeks had the mg increase so will find out; thanks ## They are in the same medication class, both are anticonvulsants that have also been shown to help with some types of nerve pain. I have been on Lyrica for about 8 months now and I am having fantastic results. My dr is trying to increase my dosage and I have been doing it in 50 mg increments. I am up 100 more now in a month, for a total dosage of 400mg. I find that I have very bad recall and loss of my vocabulary during conversation. It eventually goes away, but I was wondering if anyone else has this? If it keeps up, I just may have to drop back down 50mg until I get used to it? That seemed to work that last time I had to raise it.BTW, I have nerve pain in my ribcage. (not caused by shingles) ## It is a possible reaction to this med, it is listed as a side effect that you should see your doctor about if you experience it. You can see it in the monograph listing here: Pregabalin Details Have you consulted your doc...

I have been having severe acid reflux for several years and taking more and more acifex and other strong antacids. Last year I woke up ewith acid in the mouth day and night my gastroenterologist sent me to a surgon. I did not like the surgon so I found a different gastroenterolgist. After talking to two other Dr's, the gastroenterologist suggested I take Lyrica after uping the doseage from 10 mg twice a day to 50 mg twice a day I have some relief. for some reason he is resisting upping the doseage above 50 mg twice a day. I am getting some relief but after about 5 hours the acid comes back, although not quite as bad but it burns my tomgue and makes my tongue swollen, so I bite it. What is magic above this doseage? ## My doctor upped the dosage to 75MG twice a day. It does help but f...

I was prescribed Lyrica for fibromyalgia in 2009, 50 mg. twice a day, I took it for three years. It has messed up my life also. Stuttering, lack of memory, my gums hurt for a year, now my front teeth are crooked, and I've been referred to an orthodontist for braces. Really? I'm 63 years old! I'm afraid I'll lose my teeth as some of you have. I STOPPED taking it a year and a half ago on my own. Since I've read all of your problems, now I know why, it's the Lyrica. I had depression, was on anti-depressants. It also caused me to have cateracts, and each eye hemorrhaged one month after the surgery of each eye. I've had blurry vision since, it moves around in my eye like a cloud! We need an attorney that will represent all of us NOW! I even called the FDA. No one ...
