I have PD with alot of broken bones. I have been taking Oxycontin for over 13 yrs. I am now taking Oxycontin CR 40 mg 4 X a day. I just had a refill and got the new type. With the old type I have had no problems. I started the new type this Thursday nite. I had a bad taste in my mouth shortly after I took it. On Friday I took my first dose with food still had bad taste and my vision got bured for about and hour or more. When I took my next dose I took it with water and the bad taste came and my eyes when bury again. I don't know what they changed but but something is right. Did they change all of the Oxycontin to this pill form? ## Yes, all the time released tablets have been changed to this pill form. The only difference between it and the original Oxycontin is that the new OP has ...

been on oxycontin for 4 years and is not working as well since they switched formula ## We have had a lot of people posting similar complaints. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is actually stronger than Oxycodone. If you were taking 40mgs of Oxycontin, you would only need 20mgs of the Opana. The side effect profile is similar: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. my Dr prescribed Opana 40mg as alternative to Oxy 80 mg 2 twice a day which I would insufflate - I didn't tell him this of course. he claimed them to be just as good if not stronger can any one share about opana 40mg ## Inhaling medications that are not intended for that method of usage is very dangerous. You run the risk of overdose and creating blockages in your lungs, which can lead to breathing problems, embolisms and stroke. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, this is a potent narcotic pain reliever. Side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. THis dosage is about the same as what you were taking of the Oxycontin. Do you have any other questions? ## i was taking three oc 40's a day, when the new op 40's came out they seemed to...

Im perscribed OC 40 mg. with the OP on the market the OC became the generic Oxycodone 40 mg. The question is there is Oxycontin 40 mg in capsules. Basicly is that equal to the Oxycodone 40 without the buffer in it ## There is no generic for Oxycontin, both the one with the OC and the one with the OP marking are made by Purdue, they just reformulated to help prevent abuse and discontinued manufacturing the original that had the OC marking. Oxycontin contains Oxycodone in a time released formulation. As to the other formulations, no, there is none available in a 40mg dosage. The immediate release capsule is only available in a 5mg dosage and the regular release tablets are only available in a maximum dosage of 30mgs. Is there anything else I can help with?

been on oxycontin for 4 years and is not working as well since they switched formula ## There have been many complaints about this. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is actually stronger than Oxycodone, requiring just half the dose. So, if you were taking 80mgs of Oxycontin, you would need just 40mgs of Opana. Since it is a narcotic, the side effect profile is basically the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. I seriously just took a 30mg op cut in half and it felt like 5 or six of my 10 mg (pink) oxycodone. I believe my tolerance is pretty high and my doctor has me on 8 pink 10's a day. So to answer your question you'd be fine taking half a 40. Don't listen to all the conservatives. Li...

I think my my drug store gave me generic instead of my regular brand name of OxyContin and charged me the same price ## Hello, Poopoo! How are you? At this time, there is no generic available for it. There is Oxycontin, which should have an OP on one side and 40 on the other side of the tablet, which is manufactured by Purdue Pharma and there is Xartemis, which is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, I believe there are couple others the FDA has approved, but they are not commonly available, yet. However, all are name brand medications, in time released formulations, with abuse deterrent features. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. What are the m...

I was prescribed both Oxycontin & Oxynorm in 2006 for chronic back pain in 2006, as you would know our system builds up a tolerance to opiods. I ended up on 80 mg of Oxycontin, twice per day & 20 mg of Oxynorm 3 times per day and other meds also. I was still in pain, I believe the weather also effects pain. I slept most of the day & night and had no quality of life and terrible memory loss. It is now 2013 & In the last 2 years I have invested in a infa red sauna, a spa set at hydro temp 40 degrees & a TENS MACHINE. As you would all know as time goes by our body becomes immune to the dosages & pain specialist just keeps increasing the dose. I have gone through un describable pain to reduce my medications myself slowly with the help of the tools mentioned. I would ...

yellow round pill, writing on one side 40, OP on the other side ## round pill 40 on one side and OP on other side and its yellow. is this an oxycontin generic? ## i have the same thing and wtf is it? ## They have reformulated oxycontin to make it less likely to be abused. It is more difficult to chew or crush and can not be injected by abusers. So it is a oxycontin 40 mg that is tamper resistant ## i have the same thing only the substance will not show up in a data base from poison controll and does not give you the high ## do they still make real ocor just the ones that have the op on them? ## OP is the replacement oxycontin. Please note that according to NIH, "OxyContin tablets are a controlled-release oral formulation of oxycodone hydrochloride indicated for the management of moderate to severe pain when a continuous, around-the-clock analgesic is needed for an extended period of time. OxyContin 60 mg, 80 mg, and 160 mg Tablets, or a single dose greater than 40 mg, ARE FOR USE IN OPIOID-TOLERANT PATIENTS ONLY. A single dose greater than 40 mg, or total daily doses greater than 80 mg, may cause fatal respiratory depression when administered to patients who are not tolerant to the respiratory depressant effects of opioids. I was just reading everything on the site about oxy's. I used to abuse them and have found myself finally unfortunately I had to get arrested in the process but went to rehab and came out a new found person. I know someone who currently uses them because of the pain he has in his knee ankle and heel from a motorcycle accident he was in and currently has rumetory arthritis (spelled that wrong lol) but you got the hint. He just went to pick up his script for 60 pills and Walgreens had him sitting there for over an hour because they always tell him he needs the pre-authorization which is always sent by the doctor before he even goes to pick them up. So need less to say......he sat there for over an hour and was then told that THEY ARE DISCONTINUING 40 AND 80 MGS OPS AND OCS ALTOGETHER....

I am currently taking oxycontin 40 mg and I going from a private insurance plan to a Humana PPO Medicare advantage plan and they don't cover it. Some of the other option they recommend from humana was Methadone, Hydromorphone, Codeine Sulfate, Fentanyal Patch, Morphine, and oxycodone IR. I know Oxycodone is the same active ingredient oxycontin but I also take Oxycodone 15mg for breakthrough pain. It helps somewhat but it does help enough. My good day after taking the medicine and having my spinal cord stimulation implant device on is a 5 but an avg. day is 7.5. To give you a idea what a five to me is I broke both of my arms with one bone poking through was a 5.5 and that is a good day for me. My doctor is very hard to get him to increase my dose. I have been taking Opana er 40mg for over a year. My last refill was April 12, i was given a round pill with 40 on one side and E on the back. I am in constant pain! Any suggestions, I take 3 per day with 10/325 percocets 4x day. The pharmacy told the Dr. i must have been crushing my pills - i wasn't. I'm not crazy, these pills don't work. ## The Opana time released tablets were recently reformulated, with the intent to make them harder to abuse. Unfortunately, just as with the OxyContin reformulation, this has caused problems for some people, such as unusual side effects, or the medication not working as well as it used to. Are the opana 40 mg ER's made to be abuse proof like the oxycontin 80mg er's? what other long acting pain meds are on the market that would compare to the oxycontin 80 mg er's? ## No, Opana is not made with the same formulation that the Oxycontin is, that was something specifically developed by Purdue Pharma, because the abuse of the Oxycontin and diversion has become such a huge and widespread problem. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, which is also a very potent narcotic and may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Learn more: As to other time released options, there is also a time released formulation of Morphine, the name brand for it is MS Contin, though it is also available as a generic: There is also a patch that co...

I recently got 80mg OC OxyContin that are green but they do not help me at all, it's almost as if they were fake. Does anyone know about them? Are the OC coming back? I need to know right away! Thanks so much! ## No, at this time Purdue has no intention of bringing the original formulation back to market. If that's what you have, they are either fake or extremely old and have lost efficacy, as medications tend to do over time. The FDA classifies Oxycontin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Switch to 40mg of opana they are just like the original 80mg oxycontin

need to know what legit pharmacies are still carrying Oxycontin 40 mg Genrics in central coast california ## There is no generic Oxycontin, anywhere in the U.S. There are some provided by Ethex, however, they are just licensed distributors for Purdue and the stuff you get that has their name on it is the same stuff manufactured by Purdue. For awhile, they have still had a supply of the original Oxycontin OC, however, since Purdue has discontinued it, once their supply is exhausted, Ethex will also only be able to provide the new Oxycontin OP. I realize many people are unhappy about this change, there have been many reports that the new Oxycontin OP does not work as well as the original and that is caused odd side effects, however, the fact of the matter is that soon, no one will be able...
