Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, Oxycontin contains Oxycodone hydrochloride. I have been on oxycodone 30mg for about 6 months now, its time for my refill and my pharmacy is having trouble keeping them in stock. I was givin 2 oxycontin 30mg op by a friend. This tablet does contain 30mgs of Oxycodone, but it is not time released, it is a regular release formulation, which would be a generic for Roxicodone. I have been on regular Oxycodone- one 20mg pill every 4-6 hrs a day for approx 6 mos I used to be prescribed 10 MG TWO PILLS every 4-6hrs prior to the switch by my doc. Now, my pain has greatly increased and NOW he has given me 30 mg 4x a day and another script for oxycontin 60mg 2x a day. NOW, I am really drowsy ALL DAY where I was not at all before after this recent change in script. I also DO NOT get the same pain relief. Seems weird----go up in strength and dosage yet now just very tired all the time and less pain effective too..WHY, WHY?. Is there a chart or bell curve to show how fast, and how long 30mg Oxycontin pain pills provide relief ? There must be some way to determine how much pain relief I should be getting from this one pain pill lasting 12 hours, and when. Certainly no one is getting a full 30mg. of this pain medicine for the full 12 hours. They are all manufactured by Purdue Pharma. There are some that are listed as coming from Ethex, however, they are just licensed distributors for Purdue. OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once.
