I am having a hard time getting my presciption filled they says they are either out of medicine or they are discontinuing it.Does anyone know where they carry them.I've been out for a few days and I am in alot of pain (chronic) Just had a knee replacement and my other leg is in need for another surgery. ## Can you post back with at least your general location? This would better enable people to help you by suggesting possible pharmacies in your area. For example, I could suggest a few in my area, but I'm in the state of Washington, so that won't help much if you are in New Jersey. ## We priced out different pain medications and Sam's had the best prices...I believe Sam's club is a national chain, part of wal-mart, but better prices. how many can i take a day??? im taking 2 aday want to take 3 preday... ## What has your doctor advised? Oxycontin is a time released medication, containing the active ingredient Oxycodone, which is a very potent narcotic. It is time released over a 12 hour period and the dosage frequency should not be changed, without your doctor's approval. This is usually only done in severe circumstances, where someone's pain levels are really out of control.

is the opana and oxycotin got the same ingredients in it and if not what pill has the same ingredients as a opana 30mg. I lost my medical Insurance and i cant afford the opana 30mg but they help me very well i was wondering if there was anything out there with the same ingredients but cheaper. ## Hi Susan, Based on my research, these two medications don't contain the same ingredients. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, Oxycontin contains Oxycodone hydrochloride. From what I've read, some have had more success with Opana for pain and some have had more success with Oxycontin. They are both meant to help with pain, but I do believe that Opana is stronger. I have been on oxycodone 30mg for about 6 months now, its time for my refill and my pharmacy is having trouble keeping them in stock. I was givin 2 oxycontin 30mg op by a friend. But from all the bad reviews on the oxycontin im not sure i want to take the whole 30. Is cutting it in half safe? Will it be the same as taking 15mg? ## No, it is not safe to cut or break Oxycontin tablets. This is a time released formulation of the medication, so doing so could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once, which may result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No don'...

light purple with abg one side and 30 on the other I was told this is an oxycontin 30 is it ## Oxycontin is the name brand for the time released formulation of Oxycodone manufactured by Purdue Pharma and there is no generic of it available. This tablet does contain 30mgs of Oxycodone, but it is not time released, it is a regular release formulation, which would be a generic for Roxicodone. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Are there any questions or comments?

I have been on regular Oxycodone- one 20mg pill every 4-6 hrs a day for approx 6 mos I used to be prescribed 10 MG TWO PILLS every 4-6hrs prior to the switch by my doc. Now, my pain has greatly increased and NOW he has given me 30 mg 4x a day and another script for oxycontin 60mg 2x a day. NOW, I am really drowsy ALL DAY where I was not at all before after this recent change in script. I also DO NOT get the same pain relief. Seems weird----go up in strength and dosage yet now just very tired all the time and less pain effective too..WHY, WHY?. I have read somewhere that the brand of oxycodone I take (KVK) ESPECIALLY the former 20mg was almost worthless for pain, yet their 10 mg was very effective. When ever I would take 2 of the KVK 10mg in past, it INDEED WAS MORE EFFECTIVE than just O...

I have been taking 40mg oxycontin 3x a day. My insurance won't cover it any more. My Doc prescribed ms contin 30mg 2 x a day. will it work? ## Oxycontin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone. It is stronger than the MS Contin which contains the active ingredent Morphine. Both are narcotic pain relievers. That said, your doctor has actually prescribed you a lower dose, to be taken less frequently than what you were taking of the Oxycontin. However, the only way to see if it will help you is for you to try it. Some medications are effective for certain people, some are not. If this dosage does not handle your pain, make sure to contact your doctor right away and let them know. They may need to prescribe one that is slightly higher or to be taken more frequently. You may still exper...

There is no roxicontin its roxicodone 5, 10,15 and 30mg. Then they have oxyir, oxycodone. Those are instant release! ## You are correct, the actual name of the medication is Oxycontin and it contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone. Thus, it has the same active ingredient as the others you've mentioned, but it is taken every 12 hours. Learn more Oxycontin details here. Are there any questions or comments?

Is there a chart or bell curve to show how fast, and how long 30mg Oxycontin pain pills provide relief ? There must be some way to determine how much pain relief I should be getting from this one pain pill lasting 12 hours, and when. Certainly no one is getting a full 30mg. of this pain medicine for the full 12 hours. Can you help me understand why I need to take (1) or (2) 5mg Oxycodone pain pills 2 or 3 times a day until the second Oxycontin is due? I have very severe pain from Post Polio Syndrome, and my Doctors know very little of the etiology of this condition, nor just how bad this pain is 24/7 It's been 60 years since my original bout with childhood polio, and 24 years now since PPS came knocking on my door. I know how much Oxycodone I need to get me to a level I can live wit...

oxycontin 40mg versus opana 30mg, which one helps most? ## It really depends on the person and which one works better for them. The 30mgs of Opana, in this case, is the more potent of the two, if that's what you're asking. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I know this is a very old post but i just had to say the Opana is no more but the generic(oxymorphone 30mg ER) is still available and BLOWS EVERYTHING out of the water by far including the oxycontin 80's n especially a 40mg oxycontin thats all

How to detox from home, I'm trying to get off these 30mg OPs I been prescribed for more than ten years, and I'm tired of the addiction,, please help me find a way to detox...... ## The only thing I can ever say helped me were a couple valium and LOTS of fluids, stay hydrated!!! Good luck!! ## A slow taper is usually best. However, the problem is that these are time released, so you can't cut or break them. How many do take each day? Have you consulted a medical professional for assistance? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression and diarrhea.

need to know of a pharm that i can get my script of 30mg generic filled at in oklahoma ## I am sorry to inform you, but there is no generics of Oxycontin available, anymore. They are all manufactured by Purdue Pharma. There are some that are listed as coming from Ethex, however, they are just licensed distributors for Purdue. Due to the increased rate of theft, abuse and diversion, all generics were pulled from the market. Have you been having a problem with the new Oxycontin OP formulation? This medication may cause side effects, including: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Read more:

I've been taking oxycontin 30mg with oc on them - this time i got oxycontin 30 with op on them and they seem to make me sick. What is the difference? ## Oxycontin OP is brand new to the market and is replacing the regular Oxycontin. The only difference is that the Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Even if someone tries to crush or chew it, it will retain its time released properties. Otherwise, it works the same and has the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am not certain why it would be making you sick, as compared to the other ones, have you tried contacting your doctor or pharmacist about it? ## the new pill u are now getting is a new formula of the old oc and is supposed to be tamper proof so people cant abuse th...

OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. Day 3 throwing up, stopped taking the pills. Two days have past I now take the Opana, as soon as I started taking the Opana my symptoms were subsiding. I never in my 54 yrs of life felt the sickness I felt those 3 days. I am not an abuser of them. I do take them everyday 3x a day. I normally take the 30mg OC 3x daily and dropped down to 20mg. I call them Oxy Poision OP I will never take another one in my life, even i...

Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. I seriously just took a 30mg op cut in half and it felt like 5 or six of my 10 mg (pink) oxycodone. I believe my tolerance is pretty high and my doctor has me on 8 pink 10's a day. So to answer your question you'd be fine taking half a 40. Don't listen to all the conservatives. Li...

Which is stronger? My new insurance won't pay for oxycontin and substituted generic percoset but it doesn't seem to work as well. Is it my imagination? ## Hello, John! How are you? Oxycodone and Oxycontin are the same medication, Oxycontin is just a name brand for the time released version of it, so the 30mgs is stronger, it's just released slowly over an 8 hour period, as compared to the regular release that is released all at once. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. You may want to ask our doctor about possibly trying MS Contin, it is a time released formulation of Morphine that is also available as a generic, so most insura...

I had a Cervical Fusion in 2002 in another state from where I presently live. Ever since the surgery, I have been in the most horrific pain. (Please bear with me while I explain...) Unfortunately, my surgeon screwed up the C5/C6 Cervical Fusion so bad that, as a result, I am in so much more pain now than prior to the surgery. Excruciating, unbearable, horrific pain. Years later post surgery, I found out that he was the 'kingpin' (what the newspapers and court documents stated) of a ring of doctors that kept patients in their little circle. Patients were unwittingly kept inside this circle of doctors, tossed back and forth like a toy, and then surgeries were performed. Purposefully accumulating all that expense, and then OVER-BILLING the insurance companies was their game... then...
