Are they ok to take? ## Hi, Wendy! It can be normal for this to happen if your pharmacy ran out of their supply of one and had to add some from a different manufacturer. However, I can't confirm this for you, without knowing the markings that are on the tablets. Learn more Dilaudid details here. Can you post back with this information? I was prescribed Dilaudid 2mg for the repair of an incisional hernia. Pain maiintenance has been a problem in as much as I cannont in the least tollerate even 2mgs of dilaudid. In the hospital was one matter. At home I was scared, felt on and off as if I were dying and very week to the point that I could barely make it to the kitchen to eat even oatmeal It would take me 10 to clean up a small kitchen spill because I was so weak. I switched to 600 mg IB and was chastised by the Advice Nurse for even considering IB and to switch immediately to Tylenol. My Question is this: Has anyone every been successful with pain maintenance with Tylenol Extra Strength or with 1/2 a 2 mg Dilaudid pill. Though sill soo afraid of Dilaudid. Thank YOU ## Dilaudid is an opiate narcotic, so it can cause dizzi...

I need this pain to stop. Please. ## Hello, Ruby! How are you? Yes, if it is was prescribed that way, then the intent is for you take another, if one doesn't alleviate your pain. I have an RX for dilaudid and for the last few months by the end of the month, some of my tablets look like they have been dropped in water and taken out to dry. They are smaller and the marks are not readable. How and why does this happen! Thank you for your help ## Hello, Julia! How are you? Do they still work for you? Some pharmacies use automated counters and sorters, which unfortunately may result in some peoples being slightly damaged, or broken. I've had it happen, before, so I know prefer to use pharmacies that still do hand counts to fill prescriptions. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

I want to take something that would numb my body so i could move around better ## Hello, Anna! How are you? There are no medications available that are actually going to numb your body. Regardless of what you take to alleviate your pain, there will always be a chance of experiencing break through pain, especially with activity. If your body felt numb, you'd also not be able to move around and keep your balance. Have you tried Oxycontin? It is a very powerful opiat...

Are 2 mg of diaudid marked m 2 stronger than pink pill marked k 56 known as oxycodone? ## Hello, Dreamy! How are you? No, for each 2mgs of Dilaudid, you'd only need to take 5.33mgs of Oxycodone, so the 10mg Oxycodone tablet is stronger. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I cut/ break this pill in half, or is it time release? I do not generally take painkillers but my sister gave me one since I am unable to move my neck. ## Cut it in half with a sharp knife. Youll get 2mg of Dilaudid. You would be much better off taking the whole pill. ## Would 4 mg be too strong? I used to take Vicodin and have a high tolerance to it. I have taken a small dose of roxy in the past and it was too potent for me. I didn't want to repeat it with this dilaudid. ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is a very potent narcotic, so if you aren't used to taking it, there can be a danger of overdose if you start off with 4mgs. You really shouldn't take it, at all, without a doctors approval. However no, this tablet is not time released, it is ...

I took 2mg of dilaudid following a painful medical procedure. Before my appointment I had taken .25 mg of clonopin in hopes that it would relax me and make my appointment less painful. I was not planning on taking anything afterwards, but the pain was so severe which led me to take the 2 mg of dilaudid. Will I be alright? ## They are sometimes prescribed together, but the safety of your taking them both is ultimately up to your doctor. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects? The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, irritability, dry mouth, and constipation.

how much is a lethal overdose? ## There is no pat answer to this, it varies depending on whether or not the person taking it already has a tolerance to opiates. If a person is opiate tolerant then they would need a higher amount to put themselves in any danger, however, a person who is not used to taking narcotics, would require a much smaller amount to achieve a lethal dose. ## I just took 5 2mg diluadid for the first time and I swear i thought I was gonna overdose do you think I'm gonna be okay im starting to feel better

My pain Mgmt. doc. stopped giving me dilaudid 2mg, 5 times a day and fioricet 2 times a day as my urine always came back negative. I mean, she just cut me off and I am afraid as I do not know or understand what I will experience. Can someone please explain to me what all to expect as I do not see another pain mgmt. doc. for four months. Thanks for listening to my problems, Sally ## Hi I feel that we're in a similar situation, as my prescribed Xanax more than most of the time comes back negative in my UA -a few times I actually ran out of them 2 days before my dr.visit and I told him that I had taken a half a few times during the month do to just felling I needed it. My boyfriend is taking 2mg generic for Dilaudid for a knee replacement. He had no problems in the hospital with the brand name drug, but is having horrible headaches since coming home and using the Generic. Does it make sense that the generic can cause this? ## Dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, & nausea are all listed as common side effects associated with Dilaudid (Hydromorphone), no matter whether it's generic or not. However it is likely the different inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) of the generic version we're probably what triggered the onset of those headaches. I'd also keep in mind that generic medications can contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient - compared to the amount found in brand names. For some people, these subtle dif...

I was taken off of Dilaudid 2Mg every 3 hrs to oxycontin 5 Mg every 6 hrs. I was in pain and I never experienced withdrawals, but I did this time. I called the Dr. right away. The Phar. gave my wonderful PM alot of crap, but I finally got back.on the Dilaudid in two days. ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you had. That wasn't a proper conversion, it would take 5.33mgs of Oxycodone to be equivalent to each 2mgs of the Dilaudid you were taking. Thus, you'd need 40mgs of spread throughout the day to provide the same analgesic effect and prevent withdrawals. I'm glad you were able to get back on the one that works for you. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may ca...

Can the m 2 pill be cut in half and taken? Is it a time release? Is this pill the smallest dosage usually prescribed? ## No, this is not a time released tablet, so it could be cut, if you wish, unless your doctor or pharmacist has specifically told you not to do so. And yes, this is the lowest dosage available in the tablets, it contains 2mgs of the Hydromorphone, which is the active ingredient in Dilaudid, this is actually a generic medication. It is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more Dilaudid details here. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I found a white pill with M2 on it inside of a bottle that said "hydromorphone, generic for Dila...

I took 2mg of Dilaudid 2 hrs ago and was then told to take 20mg ER Oxycontin the next hour. Is that ok? ## Who told you to take them both? The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Were they both prescribed for you? Are you on any other medications? ## Wow, who are you to talk to someone like that? People know the risk. We're not stupid. Do you ever drink? You know alcohol can kill you.

Are my dilaudid pills instant release ## Hello, Maxwell! How are you? No, there are no instant release Dilaudid tablets. These are 2mg regular release tablets, so they start working about 15 to 20 minutes after you take them. This medication is a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## There are Dilaudid extended release out there they come in 20 mg and they work very well for pain. ## Sooo yes actually they ARE considered "instant" release. You stated they are not IR, but they start working around 20 minutes after you take them? ? Just like an aspirin, percoset, ect,ect,ect.....
