However Soma can also cause anxiety too! ## @Laura, I just did some research and read that Soma (Carisoprodol) can be used for anxiety like Eddy mentioned, however, it's not often prescribed for that because since it's a muscle relaxer it can actually have strong sedation effects. Also, Soma is only meant to be used in the short-term, often less than three weeks. There are some available, such as Ashwagandha, but since they are only classified by the FDA as supplements, there is no proof that they actually work, though some people swear by them. They are also not known to be habit forming, like the benzodiazepines and they seem to cause far less side effects. You can certainly try something, if your doctor approves. Are you on any other medications? ## Can you purchase this over the counter vitamin (Ashwanganda) in the health food store?
