I believe the Ig 23 should not be labeled as 'Xanax' as it is highly misleading. There is no way it can be considered a Xanax. The introduction of these new drug brands is extremely confusing, particularly for older individuals. It's no surprise that my dad double-checks the markings on his Xanax pills! ## Hello, Missyboo! How are you? The blue, oval tablet with the marking IG 213 is manufactured by Camber Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 50mgs of Sertraline, which is an SSRI antidepressant. So, it is not a Xanax, nor is it a related medication in the same class and it does not work the same. Not sure if this was asked but whats the difference between IG 213 and xanax? ## Hi Mimi, The pill you're describing marked IG 213, contains 50mgs of Sertraline hydrochloride. The main difference I see here is that Sertraline is classified as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This type of medication is supposed to work by increasing the amount of serotonin in your brain, in order to help maintain an even mental balance. Alprazolam (Xanax) on the other hand, is classified as a benzodiazepine, which is said to work by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain. Even though both meds are in different drug classes, I have also heard of people using anxiety and depression meds interchangeably for either type of case. I guess it all comes down to what you and your doctor d...

The pill imprint IG 213 is in fact 50mgs of Sertraline. I actually had my script filled with those and thought they were "purple footballs" (Xanax), but I looked a little closer and noticed that the numbers weren't normal. So I looked them up online as well and found out to my dismay that Sertraline 50mg is a generic of Zoloft used for depression. Of course, it had me fooled. ## Correct, this tablet contains Sertraline 50 mg (NDC 31722-0213). Refill is white, Oval, Z16. ??? ## Hi terry, Both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference I noticed is that they are manufactured by different companies. Because of this, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may respond favorably with one medication and not the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves. When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or filler...
