I was told today, taking 2 Tylenol and 2 ibuprofen is equivelant to taking morphine for pain! Is there any truth to that? ## Hello, Keith! How are you? No, that is not accurate. Alternating the two, say by taking Tylenol in the morning, then Ibuprofen 8 hours later can sometimes result in better pain relief, because it can help reduce swelling more significantly that just taking one or the other, but it will not be anywhere close to Morphine and doubling up on them, at the same time, could be dangerous, due to the toxic effects they may have on the liver. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I need to know for a 15 yr old weighing 126lbs, is it safe for her to take two Tylenol 500mg and two Ibuprofen 200mg, which is a total of 1,400 mg at once? ## Is it safe to take Ibuprofen and ...

Can someone please explain the difference between Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and Tylenol? I’m already maxed out on maximum Ibuprofen at 1600 mg a day spread out 4xs a day and a (really low dose of Gabapentin 200 mg 3xs a day) for forearm pain. The Ibuprofen isn’t enough when the pain hits hard and fast despite having a high tolerance for pain. ## Acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol or APAP) is the same thing as Tylenol. Tylenol is just the retail "brand" name. It is not an NSAID. It can be hard on your liver but typically won't cause ulcers or bleeding. Ibuprofen (brand name Advil) IS an NSAID which can increase your risk of bleeding, raise blood pressure and increase the chance of cardiovascular ailments. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are safe to take together and c...

Hi, I have an ear infection and want to know how often do i take my tylenol and Ibuprofen 800? I'm in so much pain I'll be crying. ## You should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions. Were you also prescribed an antibiotic or antibiotic ear drops? Neither Tylenol, nor Ibuprofen will help eradicate an infection. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation.

I've had a bad toothache for the most part of the day. I took 2 ibuprofen around 6 this morning, then two Tylenol after my bike ride around 11 a.m. and then I took 2 ibuprofen around 4 p.m. and I took my first dose of sulfamethoxazole around 8:20 p.m... Could this hurt me? ## How are you feeling? Did you experience any adverse effects? The FDA does warn that combining these medications could result in more nausea, drowsiness, and dizziness than usual. Are you on any other medications?

I took an ibuprofen 800mg 3 hours ago and my pain didn't go away. Is it safe to take a percocet 10/325 (a333) with it? ## Hello, Ttrina! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between Percocet and Ibuprofen, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. And this only applies if you're sure that you took Ibuprofen. Tylenol contains Acetaminophen and so does Percocet, so you can't combine them, because it could result in overdose toxicity. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you certain you took Ibuprofen? ## Took 800 mg ibuprofen 330 min ago, can I take Percoce...

Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen,[a] is a medication used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain.[11][12] At a standard dose, paracetamol only slightly decreases body temperature;[11][13][14] it is inferior to ibuprofen in that respect,[15] and the benefits of its use for fever are unclear.[11][16][17] Paracetamol may reliev...

I have had ulcers (bleeding) but am fine now. Can I take Ibuprofen 600mg? I am concerned that it may cause bleeding again... Also, is ibuprofen 600mg a narcotic? ## No, it is not a narcotic. This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, and, yes, it does increase the risk of bleeding, stomach irritation, and ulceration, or worsening existing ulcers, according to FDA reports. It would be best to check with your doctor to discover what medication is safe for you take. You may need to stick with one that is milder, such as Tylenol/Acetaminophen. Is there anything else I can help with? ## You might have seen this on another post but am asking about Ibuprofen and Tylenol (no other variations) combined. My post was moved to a not as appropriate post as I was hoping it would be... Is it...

How many ibuprofen and acetaminophen equal 1 Vicodin ## They are not equivalent. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and Acetaminophen is an analgesic and antipyretic, however, Vicodin contains the narcotic Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, so they just aren't comparable. Additionally, both the Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen can be toxic and cause a fatal overdose, if you take too much, so trying to take more and more of them to relieve pain is not advisable. can a 72 year old woman with diabetes take 3 capsules @500 mg Tylenol at one time if total of 8 capsules a day are not exceeded ## Yes, the worst it might do is upset your stomach or make you a little drowsy. Many people have prescriptions for Ibuprofen which range in dosages from 600mgs each tablet and up. I am currently only 800mgs Prescription Ibu and usually take two tablets at once, so total of 1600mgs. ## Betty: Why would you want to do this. First, speak with your health care providers. Then, follow proper dosing directions. Diabetics must be very careful regarding all substance intake due to hiddent sugars, carbs, etc. Remember, tylenol contains acetaminphen which can cause liver damage in excess. I have a headache and want to take Advil (Ibuprofen) right now. Only thing is I am planning to take a Tylenol PM (Acetaminophen with Diphenhydramine) in about 2 hours to go to bed. Does anybody know if it is okay to take Acetaminophen a couple hours after taking Ibuprofen?? ## Yes, as long as your doctor approves, they can be combined, and it is sometimes recommended that a person do so, to treat certain types of pain, such as severe headaches, and arthritis. As a matter of fact, there is now a product available over the counter called Advil Dual Action, and it contains Ibuprofen, and Acetaminophen. However, as I said, you should first make sure it is safe for you to take them, and make sure you don't exceed the recommended safe dosing amounts. The FDA warns that Ibuprofen, and Acet...

One Norco 10-325 is equal to how many Ibuprofen? I take 6 Ibuprofen at a time to kill pain and it just barely works. What is the strength difference between one Norco and the Ibuprofen? ## Hello, Mailand! How are you? There is actually no way to accurately compare these two medications, since Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the Hydrocodone is an opiate narcotic that's coupled with Acetaminophen (aka Tylenol). The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Which has your doctor instructed you to take?

I have tooth pain. I was taking 800-1000mg of ibuprofen q9h. After a few weeks, it stopped working. I started taking Tylenol (recommended dosage). It only dulls the pain. May I start the ibuprofen again? ## Hello, Erica! How are you doing? Sorry about the toothache! Have you consulted a dentist, yet? The main issue here is that if the problem causing the toothache isn't corrected, it's not going to go away. You said you've already had it for a few weeks, so something really needs to be done. If there is an infection, it is just going to continue to get worse, you'll need an antibiotic and corrective treatment.
