I've been on methadone 15yrs. I need to get off. I'm in pain management for a back injury and the methadone is blocking my percocet. How can I get off methadone? ## I am on both Methadone and oxycodone for pain. As long as you take your oxycodone about 45 minutes before your dose of Methadone and eat about a half an hour after after you take your Methadone, your medication will work as it is supposed to. Follow the same pattern if you take several doses of both medications a day, like I do. Just always make sure you take the oxycodone first, because it sets the tone for the day. I alternate between both and it works amazing. Good luck.

I go to a methadone program and have for about 4 years. I've recently had the flu which caused me to vomit up my methadone (I get 5 take home bottles per week). Tried taking another bottle and threw up again. I'm feeling sick from not taking it so I took a 60 mg morphine sulfate pill. Will this help at all? ## It may help stave off the worst of the withdrawals you could experience, since it is also a narcotic. I have the 800mg/160mg pills and want to cut them up to give to a dog with a UTI but I am unsure which mg dose I use to figure out how much to give to a 10# dog. I took Methadone 120 mg 2 years ago. Now I'm down to 28 mg. You have to be strong and willing to come clean. It hurts, but you`ll get used to it. Every week I take at least 2 mg off, sometimes more. When it gets too painful I help myself with, vitamins A, D and C, magnesium, liver vitamins and some Benzodiazepines, but not long, just a week. Then my body gets used to it and I keep taking the dose. When I feel okay again, I take less again, until it is gone. The finish is harder and you need all the help you can get, vitamins, immune system protection, magnesium, lots of fluids and sometimes a salt solution in veins, for the night.
