Hi, I am prescribed oxycodone HCL 10mg. This medicine helps a lot with my chronic pain but this time when I received my medicine it had this kind in my bottle; the ones with the np and 12 on it. When I take it, it has no affect on my pain. Can you tell me why? What do you recommend? ## I agree th np 12 oxycodone is not like the flat round ones. They do little for your pain and they are NOT immediate release. ## If I had to speculate on why it's not working as well, there could be a variety of factors influencing its efficacy either all at once and/or singularly at different points in time; be it our metabolism and how it changes throughout the day, our tolerance, weight, body chemistry, different inactive ingredients, less active ingredients used in different generics, etc, etc... Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, there are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient… and they only have to measure against the name brand, not against each other, so you could conceivable have one generic that's slightly high in the amount of the active ingredient and then another that's slightly low...
