Withdrawals From Oxycodone 30mg

Updated

I have been prescribed oxycodone 30 MG's for about 4 years 1 to 2 a day. I decided on the 11th of this month enough is enough! I hated the daily routine in order not to be sick for the day that I had to continue to take them. I became committed to do this for myself and children especially. They don't need a part of me they need all of me. I live in Az and it is harder and harder to come by. I could never see myself putting a needle in me and becoming a junkie. The problem that I am experiencing is that the symptoms continue to linger on, still really sick. When will the days get better? Seems it stays the same.

Hello, Stef! How are you feeling? Has there been any change?

When I went off of my pain management medications cold turkey, after being on them for several years, I found that it took about a month, before things returned to normal. It can vary from person to person, though.

The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, diarrhea and rebound pain.

Hello. Not so good. Still dizzy, not eating well, drinking water haven't been able to do.
I hope it doesn't take a month.

They will get better, when you stop either by CT a taper. For you sounds like a taper wont work. CT is the best way. Its more likely you will have a better chance to stay off it. cuz your going to be down at least 7-10 days, then it gets better. I don't know if u been threw this before? if you don't use it WILL STOP!! I mean in a great way. Also because of the needle I lost my brother in 96 to an opiate O.D. but pills are different..you should be threw this as your post says April 11th.

James,

Thanks for your words if encouragement. I did do this cold turkey. I have a couple of friends that are worried because they say that it is really dangerous. I barely started to be able to even clean still not feeling 100%. Another reason I wanted to quit is the overdoses have hit high due to prescribed meds. Just 2 days ago a friend of friend just overdosed. Two weeks prior she od they gave her save a shot. This time no luck. She had young children that found her. My friend said this could happen to you. You are doing it unsafe. Know I am not sure of myself. Should I taper after so long?

Were these prescribed by a doctor because that is one strange dose? or were they oxycotins? Cotins they say take longer to withdrawal from. 60mg a day is not a very big dose so you will be uncomfortable for a week or two should start to get better in a week but lingers after that another week. Hang in there and you don't need to worry about anything bad happening. Withdrawal from even high doses feels like your dying but rarely ever does something dangerous happen. Thats more people who are withdrawing from other meds too.

15 days after my last 5 mg Oxycodone/acetaminophen pill. I only took ONE a day for about 4 years. I am still suffering from exaustion and depression. When am I supposed to feel better?

Maybe your problem is not the medication but something else. Depression comes to mind but other physical problems can cause the same symptoms. If you don't feel better in a few weeks I would get a checkup with your doctor. You could also have some vitamin or mineral issues but I would have some blood work done before buying a bunch of stuff from the healthfood store.

Hey did everything work out? Takes a month but the mental really does suck, maybe you would need an sssri for a few months.

Thanks Liz. Life is so much better now. It took me about 2 1/2 months to somewhat feel better. I am completely off the meds since then. I also am not taking Suboxone as a substitute. It was very hard as I suffered from Paws but I will never look back. My body feels normal again. I don't have to wake up depending on medicine whether it is gonna be a good or sick day. What is ssri?

No that was not my problem. It was the medicine. Now that I am off. I feel normal again.

Yes prescribed. The most 90mgs of Oxycodone. It did a number on me. Everyone is different I didn't feel better till 2 months later.

Ssri is an antidepressant. It could help with Paws. 2 1/2months is a long time! But it's good now you don't have to rely on anything.

Yeah I probably could have used that back then. It was a horrible 2 months. Almost one year!

Good! I withdrawled cold turkey from 12 5/325 Percocet a day. And it was terrible. I wanted to die.. no puking though haha! But sadly I think I'm addicted again but only taking 1/2 to 1 a day. Which I could imagine it's probably just mental addiction at this point. Maybe I need therapy LOL. :( Who has the time for that these days. *sigh*

I was obviousy abusing them though. Prescribed only suppose to take when needed, max 4 a day or something. Sigh, why do doctors prescribe these things. They think they are help but there should be other alternatives to manage pain.

What does "if you don't use it will stop" mean? That doesn't make sense. Oh, and you should say has someone been "through" it, not "threw" it.

Suzi, everyone knew what James meant, I don't know why you're even on this page. If you want to teach grammar and spelling, go find another site and leave us alone.

Hey there, it sounds like you've been taking something other than percocet. Oxycodone and acetaminophen are the two ingredients that make up percocet. Don't know about the hydro and fentanyl though, pain management doesn't fool around these days, so unfortunately they will probably drop you with no questions asked. Good luck in the future, and make sure you know what you're taking so you don't end up hurting yourself.

I was on Roxicodone 30s. It was horrible getting off of those things. I thought I was going to die. I was throwing up about every 15 minutes pretty much around the clock for 2 days. Was so sick will never go back to any narcotic ever in my life again. I will deal with my severe pain. I won't go down that road ever again. Bless anyone dealing with this.
Some pain medications can be your friend and other times some medications can be your worst enemy. Be careful before you ever started an opiate.

Re: Stef (# 11) Expand Referenced Message

Have been trying to get off opana, dilaudid, and percs for about a year. The longest I have been able to go without is about 7 days. I ended up going to the ER badly dehydrated, and just cannot get out of bed when I try to stop. How long would it take to feel better if I stayed with it?

Re: Professor (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

I’m feeling A little frightened right now OK I’ve been giving Oxycodone 5 325 For my back (lumbar disease)pain which I told the doctor taking one doesn’t do anything for my pain so I take two at a time which still doesn’t do much I take two in the morning And two at night One night at a friends house I was in a lot of pain so he gave me a Percocet 30 I broke it in half and I would take half in the morning and half at night Which by the way took my pain completely away so I started taking them half in the morning half at night Fast-forward had to get blood work done and I was told that I had hydrocodone and Fentanyl In my system and And now Pain Management is dropping me I had no clue what fentanyl was Until now and I’ve been taking them since July and will I get sick if I stop now I know I sound a little naïve but I don’t know I’ve been taking Percocets for A few years.

Suzi, go read your English books and stay away from the adult forums. You don't have a clue as to what we're talking about but if you did you'd be one insensitive person

Hi everyone.
I'm so impressed and so proud of all of you getting off of this medication. I do believe doctors or at least some doctors think they are doing the right thing by people. They're patients. But other doctors really just don't care they throw pills at you and don't even think about addiction until you are hooked on them. And then game over they don't want to help you. So all I'm saying is all of you are amazing. I look up to each and every one of you. Have a blessed Saturday morning. Peace.

Hi Stef~
I'm so very proud of you. Keep up the good work. It's well worth it in the end it really is. We have so many youth dying nowadays from drugs that it's unreal. Where I live they brought in a portable morgue that holds up to 18 bodies that just broke my heart. I am just so proud of you. You're a rockstar.

Hi Why,
Thanks. It was a very hard accomplishment but the reward out weighs everything. I have my life back. I had a relapse when I was admitted to the hospital. I didn't fully trust myself thinking if I started again I would continue. I kept reminding myself what I went through to get to where I am at and I was like hell no. I took them for a few days when I absolutely needed them. On the 3rd day I stopped taking. I felt a little withdrawals after the 2nd day I was alright.

Hi Elam,
Going through this was one of the hardest things I have had to accomplish. Also one of the most rewarding after the sickness. I got a little scared because I was admitted into the hospital in June. I was issued oxycodone 5mg. for pain. I didn't fully trust myself thinking if I started again I would continue. I kept reminding myself what I went through to get to where I am at and I was like hell no. I took them for a few days when I absolutely needed them. On the 3rd day I stopped taking. A little relapse but back on the road to recovery.
