Why Would Clacee 500mg Not Work?

I hav been coughing non-stop for 3months in a row now, to the point that I developed chest pains and sore ribs. The coughing is so bad I can't sleep at night because its non-stop and I even throw up & have to spit all the time, mostly mucus; at first the mucus was clear, now it varies between yellow&green; even had one or two blood stricks in the mucus. My doc couldn't diagnose what the actual problem is but did say its not asthma or TB or bronchitus or pneumonia or cancer & he prescribed clacee500mg with panafcort 5mg. I hav been taking the course for 3days now but the condition is the same. Is it safe to be taking clacee 500mg in the absence of a clear diagnosis?

This contains the active ingredient Clarithromycin, which is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. From the mucous you describe with those colors, it does sound like some type of infection, so yes an antibiotic would be given in such a case. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

The general rule is that you should start to see improvement after taking it for 3 full days, but a severe infection may take a bit longer. If things persist, you'll need to return to the doctor for another evaluation.

Hi Tiana.
I am not a doctor but my mom had the exact symtoms that you have. she went for a colonoscopy and Gastroscopy and they found non canserous groths in her Colon as well as a tummy virus. the doctor prescibed Trustan20mg,Moxypen 500mg and Clacee. the coughing has stopped. the Clacee however leaves a bad taste in her mouth and she struggles to sleep. i am on the exact same tablets for a tummy infection and Acid reflux. i have no side effects. i would suggest you go for that Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy to see if all is well in the colon and tummy.
