What Happens When You Withdrawl From Xanax (Page 4)

Updated

My friend has been taking xanax for the past two months he's been taking the 2Mg bars he would eat about 10 bars a day because of his anxiety he stoped taking them for couple of weeks and now he is not remebering anything he has been passing out and saying he had a conversation with somebody and never even talked to that person. like we'll be sitting in a room and he will think the phone is ringing but it isnt. and he said he had a conversation with me one day and i never even talked to him that day. I'm trying to find out if this could be from the xanax because its making me very worried.

So your saying benzodiazepines are worse than opiates when it comes to withdrawals. Idk, I'm no Dr. Maybe it's best to stay on Xanax for the rest of ones life? Not taking away from a particular medical condition but, you have to try and take control of your situation as best you can. Trust me, there is more to ones situation than meets the eye or than one cares to discuss. Good luck to you all. If I let my Dr take complete control I'd be a Zombie.

i agree totally ! and read my post before this one, maybe we can chat sometime, but we shouldnt beat up on eachother though here as we are all victims to this drug we didnt buy it on the street we put our trust in doctors, they let us down they dont help really ive been thinking eeven though u and i just take our dose as prescribed for a condition diagnosed, and we dont abuse it and genuinly need it. that there should have been more help to us than just a bandaid fix, we have been let down by doctors we are victims even those that abuse it as they have been neglected too, its the damm drug that if its so bad like so horrible then why were we left on it for so long ?? and why didnt we get sent to counselling and treated properly in the first place instead of beeing put on some horror so called drug, no doctor warned us of any dangers like coming off etc, further more more harm is done by boozers ! yet thast still not restricted !! we here should support one another , but i like your message and i agree im angry and dont know how to feel about this whole drama with them wanting to ban it like its some street drug, we dont all abuse it !! so that not fair i agree

my oppinion is defiantly relevant as im from australia and that is the new rule here, look it up on google, it is beeing called now scheduel 8 poisen. alprazolam, the doc here have to be granted a permit now to prescribe and the rules are that the patient has to come off it. this rules is for evryone not just me. and i was told they want to ban it because of people who have abused it and they say its dangerous drug, howver for 20 years they leave you on it saying its fine to be on it and now they pull the pin even people who dont abuse it have to go off it here they are pulling the pin on evryone and phasing it out, im surprised it isnt in your country but it might be soon the same rule. theres info on the net, about it, i was stating that it isnt fair as of people who have abused it instead of people genuinely needing it who dont abuse it, no ihavnt been in withdrawels yet as i dont have to start until april this year then i will be going through it, but im angry about the rule its 4 evryone not just 4 me. this rule started this year from feb 2014 and is a rule for all not just me. it will be a dangerous rule as it will be too hard for people to come off it and they should have done it ages ago if it was such a bad drug insetad of leaving you on it for so long, some people may get desperate and get it off the streets when it becomes phased out here, which is dangerous therfor stupid rule. and u may find it becomes world wide soon

No need for all this back and forth nonsense, name calling, and judgmental, negative comments. ~ Xanex alters your brain chemistry. It takes months to fully recover from taking it, even after being properly detoxed or titrated. He is experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. He needs to go back on it and properly titrate off of it or get into a detox program. The end.

Wow I found myself to believe I was the only one who had to suffer through the xenax cold turkey nightmare until I read yours. I was up to 20 mg a day for two years I decided enough was enough quit cold turkey. I went into severe seizures had gone to hospital ten times in one month but dr never knew I was kicking and I didn't mention it either. I almost died and was scared for my life. I spent two months in isolation in my house and never felt so s***ty in my life. I've been 3 years clean and will never forget that nightmare thanks for your story and letting me know I wasn't the only one

I was taking 10 mg of xanax a day for about a year and quit cold turkey. Had 2 seizures and went through horrible withdrawal for 4months. I'm 5'4" and weigh about 120 lbs. It was by far the hardest thing I ever had to do. I felt like the devil was sitting right next to me.

Why are you running out? If you're not an addict, why are you running out? I was prescribed them for crazy anxiety issues. But i wasn't responsible. Which, if you're running out, neither are you. Don't blame anyone but yourself.

Anne. If you were taking. TWICE your normal dose, having a prescription makes you no different from a person without a script. YOU ran out because you took them all way too early. Be mad. But at yourself.

Look, Xanax is a very addictive medication. For many patients with Panic Disorder or extreme GAD it can be extremely effective. It can even allow patients to functions in jobs, as parents, or other normal activities that they may not be able to be successful with without the drug. It is now known that withdrawal from benzeopines can be very difficult and a long process. You can get off Xanax but NEVER go cold turkey. Slowly reduce the dosage under the care of a certified M.D. or D. O. The effects of withdrawal can be moderated and the brain can be adjust to missing drug, but it takes time and should be done under supervision. This is a quality medicine for anxiety and mild PTSD, please use it as directed and report any adverse side effects to your physician.

I feel the same way. But I do know what will happen if I don't take my xanax and it scares the hell out of me.

17 Mg a day, my God! Good advice by the way. When I showed up at the ER door I didn't want to tell them as I thought I'd be turned away as a drug seeker, instead invited to stay the Week as all the diagnostics & numbers spoke for themselves!

Your wrong,I kept running out early and am very careful with my medications, I found several reasons why I was running out, first my pharmacy was shorting me two every time I filled, after counting them out right in front of them...I was told, oh it was a mistake...sure it was.The secomd problem was people stealing them, I never would have suspected the person doing it, had known them for years and my housekeeper was the only person who had access to my medicine cabinet, a sweet, church going xanax stealing lady.So please do not tell me the only reason anyone could be short is their own abuse, that's BS. And no matter how addicting they are, I am a much better calmer person with them than without. Its a medication that does work, yes its also addictive and now Drs are afraid to write itbut let them live one day of my life amd see how fast they would get on it.My advise, Trust no one, and count right there at your pharmacy.

I used to count my Xanax (not right at the counter?) and now I can't count that high as I have thousands.

um so why is it all these people are drug addicts? i take them the same 3 x daily i have severe anxiety disorders and came to this page cause i am off my meds cold turkey because i missed my dr appointment.but it does seem like you may be in denial, you are prescribed a certain amount and yes there are days where i would have to take an extra but i still made sure i had enough to make it to my refill. so maybe you should grow up and understand addicts come from many areas and getting hooked from being on them for a good period time, it's over , you are hooked try and stop on your own its bs very very difficult , and walk in someones shoes before automatically jumping at people

Try clonadine and or baclofen. Both are used to help with the withdrawl symptoms. As everyone here seems to already know you should taper off any benzo slowly easier said than done right. I'm with the guy who takes them so he can hide what's really going on. See look at this smile. He's right it does that and it also takes away the fears and feelings we don't like. The problem comes in when you try to get off them you really start feeling life and all the s*** it has to offer. You have to reinvent new coping skills because you no longer have your friend you genus in the bottle that was always there for you. It takes a full scale life alteration to get off benzos. It took me a long time to realize that it was the benzo use that was causing all the problems that I was using the drug to hide from. Someone told me and I can still hear him saying " it's so easy just do the opposite of what you were doing when you were taking them". He was right I have tried it and it works. I would wake up and say ok today is opposite day. Everything I have urge to do just do the opposite. I'm was off them for a while but they always seem to creap back in without me even realizing it. My biggest problem is I screwed up my life so bad because I was always on Xanax. Poor decision making poor relationship skills tremendous losses and grief, guilt, hopelessness. That was what I had to face and it would always become too much. Too much stress to much stimuli to much pain to big of a mess to even know where to start or how to fix it. The worst part is once you quit everything starts coming at ya all at once. The s*** you used to ignore is all in a big pile staring at you. For me personally it's to much too big ill never survive because I have lost all my support systems. I always go back. I find an excuse and away I go. There goes another job, there goes another place to sleep, there goes my relationships. The list goes on and on. I have researched this a lot and I have tried to do it several times. The only way you'll ever get off Xanax if you abuse is AA. But you have to want it bad enough to walk away from everything you know and love and let the program teach you how to be a normal person again.
