What Exactly Does Suboxone Do? Is It Addicitive? (Page 10)

i have a friend who desperately wants to get off of methadone and pain pills. will suboxone work? is it addicitive too? if someone can please help me that would be great! also is it very expensive, that's what i've heard.

Thanks so much for replying. Im finding this forum very useful. I can get a free prescription for subs at my practice wich is great.. Im dwn to 15ml , iv got a friend on 70ml and hes going on sub so I figured if he can switch over on such a high dosage so can i.. Meth is ruining my life. Like I said previous drugs are not part of my future so Im only looking for something thats not meth and something I can ger off asap, is sub the thing for me???? I googled how I get off meth and I seriously didnt c one success story. My pharmasist says most ppl stay on meth for life.. I felt like she stabbed me in the stomach, its not an option for me staying on it. Im the first to admit that I got myself into this situation but iv turned it round and Im doin myself proud. I work now and am back to teaching dance classes to kids, if anyone knew I was in meth I dont know what id do..I NEED OFF THE S***... Thanks for ur advice and anymore would b appreciated.. I want to thank you guys on this forum.. I now feel like Im not alone in this :-) I have told yous how I havent told my family about the programme Im on. They know I am drug free but dont know Im on a meth programme. I couldnt deal with the dissapountment in their eyes. Iv read posts with ppl sayin how they couldnt have dine in without their family. Part of me wishes I did just tell them at the start then instead of sneaking to pharmacy and they unexplained times when my dad doesnt realise why we cant sleepiver at his(so I can get to pharmasy the nxt day).. My advice would also b to tell ur family, Im living a secret and always find myself thinking ' I winder what my work.ates/dancefriends/family etc would think if they knew. Would they think of me in a shady way or would they aknowledge how far aling iv got myself.. Sometimes I feel like my mum can knock me down for things iv done(to my body) rather than recognise iv got myself thru it.. I am clean for myself and my daughter.. We have a nice settled life, Im a good person, not the ugliest duck in the pond and work for our money, also have nice friends.. Why cant I seem to get my confidence back??? one things for sure, when I go bk to my doc in a cpl weeks I am going on subs, I want to take the step so Im gonna do it. Cant thank u all enough, will let you know how I get on.. Ill start a diaru on how it makes me feel.xxxx

Nat, are you in the US? I'm not sure how suboxone programs work in other countrys but I think they primarily use subutex?? Not sure.

Ash Im in Scotland GB.. I can do the sub programme through my doctor iv spoke to hin about it before but he thinks I should stay in meth as Im doin well comin dwn.. Sometimes I wake and even gettin in the shower can b a drag, I dont feel bk to my normal self so mayb its that s*** hding me backback.. Im going to come on here everydayy.. You guys are my new advisors.. And I agree u gotta change the people and places your used to and b ready and willing for the journey ahead. One things for sure though I refuse to go backwards in life. The only way is fwrd and we get out of life what we put it.. Everyone on here is an insparation xxx

ASH... Im Scotland GB.. Is subutex a completely diffrent thing altogether? Or is it more or less the same thing.. Im pretty sure I would b able to get on suboxone thru my doctor who I c again in a cpl of weeks.. Just in from work and my whole shift I was over sweating profusely as I am every other day. . I NEED OFF METH!!_!:!

Im a current methadone patient....Suboxone has an antagonist in it which means if you take any other opiate type pain killer,it instantly throws you into full blown withdrawals....So its good to take if your tryin to stop the pain pill route....It comes in pill form or in a strip that dissolves under your tongue....The pills are expensive but the strips are inexpensive....Wait a minimum of 24-48 hours b4 taking suboxone if your currently taking another opiate....Everybodys different,but I prefer the pain relief from methadone vs the subs

MISSY.. Not really tired I just oversweat. Im undermotivated and I was always the get up early get showered and go type. I am a weed smoker so I dont tire easilly anyway, I need a few jnts before I sleep so I dont sleep natuarally anyway.. Todays a bit of a down day. I desperatly want off meth Missy but am petrified of the few days with nothing. Im single Mammy to a 5yr old so Im anxious about it but from what I tead I should b on and want on subs.. How did u cope? Have u made the right move?? X

Hey natto....I so understand your worry hun. I have a six yr old. The best thing is if you have someone to watch your child for that few days like I had my mom watch my daughter....that way it is just u and urself lol if u get what I'm saying. So you have those two days to focus on you. The nurse suggested malentonion? Not sure on spelling but it is a sleeping aid and plenty of rest. I'm not going to lie it was hell. Has subs worked for me? Yes...but I am scared even tho u wean of of them of going without when that day comes. And just change your old crowd and focus on you. Do you go to counceling hun?

I have be relatively lucky when it comes to a detox using subs. I wait 48 hours after and i am well into my W/D. It's best to taper your opiate use down as far as possible. What ever amount you are using cut it in half every 72 hours. If using a needle you want to reach for the foil instead. If you can switch it Oxys after that. Remember to use only enough to stay well. While you are cutting back on your use stay active. I sugest riding a bicycle or running. This will lower the amount of opiates in your body faster than just sitting around waiting to get better. Reducing your dependency prior to the usage of suboxone will greatly reduce the time and amount you have to take. You need to be determined to make a positive change before you attempt the detox. If you are not 100% ready and have support YOU WILL RELAPSE!!!! Stop hanging out with the people who use. Get back to your old hobbies. Exercising regularly will greatly improve your chances of successfully making the transition. It will speed up the correction and regulation of your brain chemistry. The road to recover is not a short one. For most people there will be many slips and falls. But as long as you keep pushing and learning from every mistake you will make it. There is no shame in asking for help, support, and advice. Chances are the people you have been neglecting while you use would be more than happy to help you through these trying times.
Repeating the same actions and expecting different results is insanity. Identify your triggers and negative influences and do what you can to stay away.

Iam just so really interested in understanding the two
Methadone stops the cravings but in the same since so does suboxone my husband was on mdone then went to suboxone these drugs are both of the same , ur merely just doing a trade off for one to another and is these drugs used for addicts or are these drugs used to supposedly treat people that are not drug addicts but to treat people with real problems like having been thrown from a car from an accident that caused broke back in several places and broken neck and from that having pain is bare able just taking ibrophen and there's no high there so are people hoping to stil get a fix and feel their "high" and conviently go to these clinics that have huge lines waiting to do just that. Cause believe me u can get off all drugs and simply live a wonderful life and not need a fix from mdone or suboxone . Greater is he that lives inside of me than he that is of this world. Gods word is my strength and his word is my light in any darkness in my pathway
