When you make an appointment to go into surgery you're supposed to inform the surgeon of any medications you are taking or planning on taking during the procedure. This is especially important if you want to avoid possible interactions with anesthetics or other strong medications.
On that note, only your surgeon can rightfully tell you if it's actually OK to take something since they all follow different protocols. Accidents can happen when they don't know what you're taking (because it may influence what or how much of something they end up giving you as well when you're knocked out), so it can only benefit you to be proactive about asking.
And depending on the type of surgery it may be just fine, but I'd also keep in mind that larger doses may take longer to find their way out of your system.
Hope this helps!
