What is difference between yellow pill that says watson on one side and 853 on other compared to yellow pill that has a v on one side and 3601 on other?

There is no difference in the active ingredients, they are just manufactured by different companies They both contain 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, generics for Vicodin, this is a narcotic pain reliever.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

There are many kinds of vicodin, I believe the best would be norco. The best I think is an off yellow color that reads Watson 853. Other very good ones are Watson 385 which are 7.5 hydrocodone 500 acetonenophen, m360 7.5/700, m358 7.5/500, v3601 10/325, m367 10/325 just to name a few. The worst kind of vicodin are Watson 349 and m357. The are 5/500, maybe ideal for ederly people or people who only need a very low dose, but the ones that read Watson 349 are by far the weakest, almost like just taking Tylenol alone. I take 5-6 vicodin a day at one time so I prefer to take 7.5mg or 10 mg.

Norco has longer half-life in system tho.

Hello..... This is not a generic for vicoden, but a generic for Norco. Norco always has just 325mg of acetonenophen in it as opposed to 500mg in vicoden! Norco's or their generics come in 5mg strength and 10mg strength, with only 325mg of acetonenophen.

People are mistaken...norco has same half life as Vicodin..lortab..lorcet..xylodol..etc...hydro/apap combos under different names..different mfgr's...all of them are exactly the same..just different amounts of apap and binders/fillers that make each brand their own.

As usual Verwon you are factually faultless. However one thing that is one of the great mysteries of life is the different effects of different brands of the same meds containing exactly the same active ingredients. As you are well aware, I am from (the not-so-bonnie-bit-of) Scotland (the Central Belt, where the major recreational activity of youth is washing down handsful of benzos, preferably the more intoxicating and sedating ones like diazepam, temazepam and high-dosage alprazolam with BUCKFAST Tonic wine, a high alcohol, very high caffeine beverage meant to be taken in 150mL measure as a tonic, containing most of the RDA of essential minerals and vitamins, but oh no, not by Scots Street youth - made by the Benedictine Monks of Buckfast Abbey, this area has by far their highest sales figures since the high alcohol/caffeine combo is just perfect as an adjunct to abusive quantities of the most heavily sedative benzos.)
IT JUST SO HAPPENS that the only hydrocodone sold in the US-only manner, ie not pure 10mg antitussives as in Europe but the synergistic apap combo, albeit at a far higher level than the pharmacologically correct proportion to form a mild opoid analgesic - 75mg per 15mg - and of course the highest priced weak opioid on the market, yes, the only brands I've tried are the three mentioned here.
V36 01 by Qualitest were rock-hard, and in the required dosage of 4 tablets took over 40 minutes for onset of action, which was an exceedingly weak action indeed; equivalent to perhaps two (80mg) DF118 Forte tablets. Which cost just over £14 per 100 & are free of liver-f***.
M367 were far more effective, four dealing with the pain of a dental abcess within 20 mins, better than its parent, dihydrocodeine tartrate, active ingredient of DF118, lasting a good 4 hours.
The effect of Watson 853, which was yellow like the awful Qualitest, not white like Mallie's 367, was identical to the Mallinckrodt except for one thing - it caused drowsiness, something that does not occur with my far stronger Rx analgesic, oxycodone HCl IR caps, unless I need to take over 120mg to cope with the pain. Anything over 100mg oxy seems to be sleep inducing, but this 40mg Watson 853, equivalent in strength to less than 5mg oxycodone, was, like Actavis or Zepose diazepam, more inclined to induce a sedative-like sleepiness than much stronger drugs at much lower dosage.
In cases like this, the excipient ingredients are usually the answer. Perhaps Qualitest contain something that blocks the true effect of the active drug - like temazepam in tablet form; a drug I find shows its true hypnotic potency only in the 10mg/5mL oral solution and Normison brand green 'eggs' with concentrated liquid temazepam filling. Restoril, a powder capsule, and the most-dispensed brand, requires 60 - 75mg to equal a 20mg egg or 20mL of solution. The tablets? One may as well eat an entire blisterpack of 14 x 20mg if sleep is required!
Yes, these hydrocodone/apap mild opioids contain the same amounts of active stuff but you must ensure you are dispensed the one that has the correct analgesic level for your condition, and gewest side effects, in my case Mallinckrodt's M367 white tablet - or the yellow Watson 853 (which incidentally has that imprint on the obverse and only a score on the reverse, unlike the description given by... I forget, a previous poster.).
Strange but true. The most-dispensed 2mg alprazolam in the USA is, I believe, Sandoz US' GG249, a tablet of such dreadful quality that even Pakistani alprazolam is more effective. The only very good US-made alp is Greenstone. Those Sandoz would never sell in Europe as nobody would dream of touching them, there being a wealth of top class brands like Ksalol, Frontin, Helex and of course the unbeatable Upjohn 94 Xanax brand. Argentinian alprazolam is all good too. But the hydro/apap combo, licenced for pain only in the US, is as curiously different by brand as I say. I would also recommend dihydrocodeine as a far better choice, being more reliable and much less toxic; use the ketone bitartrate combination drug, overstuffed with minimum 4 times the medically required amount of acetaminophen, only when a mild opioid with antipyretic properties is called for. We could do with such a drug here, but it would be rarely used though very useful in the circumstances I mention. I wish thete were a way of getting a stock of, say, 240 for when such a combo was needed. M367 is good for dental problems.
Other than the additional ingredients I see no reason why these three brands should act as oddly different as they do!

Re: Post # 1 from Verwon: I say this is incorrect information due to incomplete information. There is a slight variable in the amount of active ingredients as with ANY man made substance. However, the Inactive ingredients, may vary from company to company. This is proven to create, one patient does well with a watson generic, another uses the light yellow pill. I am finding, the light yellow make me sick, as if in withdrawal. Where as the watson combination is correct for my sensitive body.
