Tingling In Legs After Walking

Updated

after walking at a normal to brisk pace, the insides of both legs tingle from my feet all the way to the groin area, but not on the outsides of my legs. I want to know what is causing this. I'm 77 and this started a few weeks ago.

Hello, Little Mouse! How are you?

I'm not a doctor, so I can't say with certainty, but that symptom is usually due to a change in circulation. The exercise is increasing blood flow to muscle areas that don't normally have some much freely moving through them.

Do you have any medical conditions, such as a heart issue, or high blood pressure? Are you on any medications?

There are many things that could cause it, including age. But only your doctor can say for sure.

Thank you for your response. I had been curious about a "change in circulation". I am not on any medication, have low blood pressure, have been active (walking dog and some exercise walking), have high cholest. The tingling has been slowly increasing to the point I feel it at other times than immediately after walking. Am aware of it this morning after being up an hour.

There is a chance that it's related to your low blood pressure. That can prevent your limbs from getting proper blood and oxygen flow, but the exercise would cause more to push into them, which may result in these sensations.

It's kind of like when your foot goes to sleep, then gets all tingly, when it wakes up, that's due to blood flow, as well.

Only your doctor can say for sure, so it would good to have it checked out to be safe.

Please check with your Dr. In regards to back and spinal issues. I'm a 15 year back fused gal. My legs and left foot tingle and get numb with more actively. The nerve in my back was cut during one of the many surgeries. The simple trip to a great chiropractor could really help your tingle in your wiggle. Good luck and be proud of your self. Walking at 77 is so beautiful. Hope I can say the same in 20 years. Amazing.

I checked with a nurse friend and her first thought was circulation as you all mentioned. She says in her opinion it's a good thing and not a "bad thing" due to the increased blood flow to my legs and feet. I'll forget about it unless something else shows up. Thanks to all!
